  • Annual Session is when the House of Delegates meets to vote on resolutions to take a stance on policy and update the governing rules.
Resolutions submitted in January can be found on the ASDA website. Visit asdanet.org and scroll down to 2018 Proposed Resolutions. You will see the full list grouped by Reference Committee. These reference committees review the resolutions at Annual Session to provide a recommendation for the House of Delegates.
When you select a resolution, it displays the delegate who wrote the resolution, the determined financial impact of the resolution, the Board of Trustees' Comment, the Background behind the resolution and the resolution itself.
At Annual Session, one of the best ways to learn more about the resolutions is to attend the Reference Committee Hearing. Testimony from you and other delegates will be considered by the reference committee before providing a final recommendation. This Hearing is the optimal time to ask questions to the committee for clarification.
If you think ASDA should adopt a policy that is not reflected in a resolution you can write your own! Search "Current Statements of Position or Policy" on the ASDA page and review the current policies to ensure the policy you are looking for is different than current policy. Resolutions can be submitted until February 22nd at 1:30pm.
The resolutions will be voted on after the hearing. Stay tuned for Parli Pro 101 to learn tips for being engaged during the House of Delegates!
