Some clips of you riding this board with proper turns would be better, especially for thrusters. Cheers!

I agree. Shame the waves were not good when we filmed and when the waves were good, no filmer. Working on the next one now

I know flat rocker means fast. Please explain how flat contour (from left to right) means fast, too?

      In short, Less drag.
A Flat bottom shape provides less resistance as it moves through water because it has a smoother, more streamlined surface, reducing drag and allowing for faster movement.
They tend to plane more easily on the water’s surface. It lifts slightly out of the water as it gains speed, reducing contact and therefore drag.
This contributes to higher speeds, especially in smaller, weaker waves which the chunky toe is designed for.

@@blinksurf Well, what you’re saying still sounds like how flat “rocker” works, which is about water going from nose to tail. But what you showed in the video with straight edge (saying “still flat” ) seemed like talking about rail-to-rail flat, which is not the way water moves when it comes to speed.

@stevenyao8660 With the flat edge I am measuring side to side. With flat bottom It has less surface area, creating a planing surface and reducing contact with the water. This could mean less drag. Bob Mctavish often talks about flat being fast.

@@blinksurf That’s becoming more strange to me. If you’re saying less surface area near the nose (where you measured ) means more speed, how come this board is designed with wider nose (which obviously creates a lot of surface area)?
As far as I know when shapers say “ flat is fast”, they’re usually talking about rocker. Maybe you could share the clips of Bob McTavish?

if the nose was narrow it would be harder to balance. Like all of these aspects, there is a balance between the elements you want that has to be found. For every positive, there is a negative. Concave gets you lift but can cause the rail to grab more etc. Convex gets you a nice roll from side to side but can be harder to surf @@stevenyao8660 check out this article www.surfresearch.com.au/1970_Surfer_May_McT_Streaks_Slugs_Tips45.html Bob talks about "pure flat planing area all the way to the rails"
