I'd love to hear his reaction to the OST for "Project Zomboid" - it has a similar modern take on some southern sounds like Banjos - and it transitions between an ambience or orchestic music to a high-energy almost rock or industrial type - all to hit that sort of horror aesthetic for the zombie apocalypse that L4D2 also was hitting. If I had to recommend a few of their many many tracks (and variations of tracks for low or high threat), I'd say "Theme Remix" (it's the new version of the main menu theme they first used like a decade ago), "Holding out Hope", "Keep Moving", "Maybe We Can Win This", "They Were Once Here", "Touch and Go", and "Surrounded." Since the game is based in Kentucky you'll hear more of the banjo and maybe less jazz. I'm thoroughly impressed with it, as I've been following the game since maybe 2013, and the music artist (Zach Beever) they had on board was only 16 years old when he started writing music for this game, getting into this as a hobby and trying to turn it into a job. He's incredibly talented.
Having the context around some of these songs really takes me back and lets me appreciate the terror that is Left 4 Dead 1 and 2. Like it's easy to forget that it's a horror game with 3 buddies screaming at one another; but the music really works hard to not only tell you a story; but give you audio updates and warnings about the stage and some hazards (Like every special infected having a jingle to warn you before you get caught off guard.)
Wait.. *they smashed the inside of a piano (or possibly more)* for "Pile of Bile, Puddle of You"? That's friggen metal. I love the results as much as you did, they were so jarring but in a good way. I envisioned the piano smashing sounds as the last few strong defiant beats of a dying heart.
It is a shame that they choose these songs to be reviewed.. Except "the monsters within" the choices were so poor. There are so many soundtracks that curl your nails way better.
16:10 that short music is for a downed survivor, thats the first part, the second part where the piano its smashed is when the survivor died, its like "oh nooo!!!! he's dead i cant believe it!!!"
So how I will describe both L4D1 and L4D2 is by. L4D1 it’s the start of the apocalypse and the fear and terror that it brings contributes to the sound tracks and campaigns. But on L4D2 is that it brings “revenge” fight back type OST which is why this game beings a special place in my heart. Love the OST of both games
The thing I always absolutely loved about those piano hits is how, in game, it's combined with your approaching death. You fall down, the sound and music both fade and you end up just waiting for someone to help you up while you fight off zombies with your pistol as best you can while they beat you up. It's terrifying and that piano hit is the *perfect* sound to convey that emotion.
I would LOVE to hear you react to the L4D2 band ‘The Midnight Riders’ considering they’re a band exclusive to just the game; not a real life thing at all.
7:30 I actually hear this song as someone who enters an abandoned mall, it’s old and screams of the past. But yet it’s unsettling, the lack of people the knocked over plants. Then they look downstairs to see a hoard of zombies and realize what is going down.
I didn't know that the "BOM BOM" at the end of Puddle of Bile, Pile of You was a piano being crushed! that's so cool, i always thought it was some sort of metallic or low thump. Never in a million years would i have thought, "Oh that's a piano being hammered." lol

Dead easy is the Paris campaign theme, all campaign have the same banjo thing in the end I don't know where "dead easy" come from, first time hearing the name
I love how he notices so many details that despite hearing the songs a million times, I’ve never seemed to to catch. Specifically the piano hammering sound, I had no idea that was what that sound was. But I love knowing that now because that’s the sound that play when you or an ally dies, almost as if the music itself does too. What a brilliant soundtrack, what a brilliant game.
had no idea how creatively they made all this music! that bit about hammering the piano strings is wild to me! happy to learn from your amazing insight!
Oh sweet, another L4D video! Time to provide some context for the songs again, for anyone not familiar with the game: "The Saints Will Never Come" is one of the songs that can play when interacting with a jukebox (Which plays vinyl discs in-game). It's pretty much just an ambient detail that helps make the world feel more alive and interactable. (The other songs that can play are "RE: Your brains", "One Bad Man", "Midnight Ride", "Save Me Some Sugar", "All I Want for Christmas", and Portal's "Still Alive") "Dead Easy" is the intro theme for the campaign "The Parish", which takes place in the overrun city of New Orleans, amidst military bombings. The survivors are trying to fight their way to a distant bridge, hoping to catch the retreating military and finally escape the infected for good. It's the final campaign in the game's story. "The Monsters Within" is the track that plays when the survivors have finished the campaign and escaped, synced to the stats appearing (Which are stylized to look like movie credits). You can think of it as a victory theme or celebration track. I especially like the tone shift becoming more ominous and dark halfway, really leaning into the whole "We are safe... but for how long?" theme of the game. "Pile of bile" plays for the Spitter's acid. It's a female special infected that spews corrosive stomach acid at the survivors, which damages them if they stand inside of it. "Puddle of you", on the other hand, plays when a survivor is incapacitated and close to bleeding out. Looking forward to the next video!
I feel like you should look at which places the songs appear within the game, a lot of context can be drawn from it and it certainly elevates the appreciation for the music design
15:03 After looking at the files i found that the creator of that channel mixed 2 soundtrack into 1 Pile of bile is the first part while puddle of you is the second which goes BAM BAM. First one represent a puddle of acid and second one represent you being knocked on ground bleeding Pretty good and fitting name huh.
4:46 It's almost like the music is being re-animated. Full circle with the zombie theming. 7:29 I like to think this part cuts to the more realistic scene of the infection. From cartoony to realism.
Each map has its own beginning music that represents the essence of that campaign. The jazz-type music you heard represents the last map known as The Parish. The context of that map is a city where the apocalypse began in a season like a festival/carnival, hence the characteristic instruments: trumpet, drums, etc. After that beginning comes the representative music of the game, which is the banjo part. It will always be after the representative beginning of the map.
"Pile of Bile, Puddle of You" and other similar short time tracks, are specific type of enemy tracks. When you pinned down, by the end of that track you die unless someone rescues you. That certain parts in the song that indicates, you are severely damaged or there is no point of return. So you feel desperation in your bones while screaming on the headset "SAVE MEEE SOMEONEEEE"
Dead Easy is far more intricate than I first realized. In game it's a lot more subdued and quiet. But once you hear it isolated, it sounds so brilliant.
i just watched 3 other Left 4 Dead 2 videos and i want to say im glad someone can say the music for the game is 10/10, i also want to add that i love when you add your violin to the original track!
The best part of the soundtracks for both games are the special infected themes (Witch, Pile of Bile), because they perfectly encapsulate each special infected in a short motif that you should be able to recognise in the middle of gameplay. All of the characters will call out if they see a Jockey or Hunter, but you will hear their theme music and know what you're up against.
i have no idea about making music or its instruments but i really enjoy watching you reviewing l4d1/2 soundtracks, its so chill and cool 🎶 keep it going! 🎵
11:00 the both tracks are for when you finish a level and are loading into the next one. Shows your stats and stuff. L4d 1 takes place in the city and l4d2 takes place in the Louisiana swamps
Dead Easy is a play on a name for New Orleans. The Big Easy. Song if i recall plays in the opening for the campaign The Parish. Another fun fact for those who dont know, parish what we call our counties, and here is quite clear they are going for the idea of perish alongside the name.
The last sound you hear in the song "pile of bile puddle of you" is not actually part of the song but this does play when your character is incapacitated from the infected and you lay in a pile of blood till you get rescued or die
maan, this guy just predicts or identifies and tell where sounds are beingmostly used and they're actually being used in the game. he knows his music damn well
on the BIle sound track, i didnt expected you to point out that much sounds i hadnt noticed and apreciated. You just immediately read them all on the first time listen, a true musician.
I especially love the way the trumpet plays the L4D theme throughout all of Dead Easy, it does a really good job drawing attention to itself and being cohesive with the rest of the band, despite having a set of notes that really doesn't mesh with the key signature
Something that I would recommend reacting to is Elden Rings Dlc OST and the new Risk of Rain 2 dlc OST as well They are both incredibly great and here are some songs that Id recommend from them Elden Ring: 1: Bayle the Dread 2: Messmer the Impaler 3: Rellanas the Twin Moon Knight Risk of Rain 2 1: Om Mani Padme Hum Part 1 2: Om Mani Padme Hum Part 3 3: I should build this man a statue
As a l4d2 player of thousands of hours. Dead Easy is hauntingly comforting, the start symbolizes the fact that the survivors are safe in the saferoom but only for the moment, though they still have the ability to view the world burning from inside it, very melancholic vibe. For a player you genuinely feel comfort in the saferoom, you're full HP (or close to it) and fully reloaded. The second half to me symbolizes the "time to get moving" portion of that scenario.
Omg?!?!!! The clock implication on the spitter acid song/sound?! What an incredible observation. From game context you want to get out of the pool of acid as fast as possible (obviously), but wow your comment about how the sound is reminiscent of a clock ticking and how that instills anxiety is just *chef’s kiss* wow wow wow
I love how much appreciated the sound track is cuz the game play can over look some of the sound but the music that you can hear is so great the monster within is when you win the game it’s so great
Your professional insights are very interesting for us layman. The music from "The Adventures of PB Winterbottom" would be a fantastic choice for your channel.

But I love knowing that now because that’s the sound that play when you or an ally dies, almost as if the music itself does too. What a brilliant soundtrack, what a brilliant game.
Best part of this entire ost is the dynamic chase themes and the chaos that happens during the gameplay
I always seem to always perfectly time coming to your account whenever you post something I’d love, such as these valve game music reactions
0:46 i was always dancing to that music with my friends when we played i will never forget that fun i had then :D
Love it. L4D2 was amazing not only the gameplay but music. Sometimes relaxing
15:21 this is also the sound that plays in the game when someone dies
had no idea how creatively they made all this music! that bit about hammering the piano strings is wild to me! happy to learn from your amazing insight!
Oh sweet, another L4D video! Time to provide some context for the songs again, for anyone not familiar with the game:
"The Saints Will Never Come" is one of the songs that can play when interacting with a jukebox (Which plays vinyl discs in-game). It's pretty much just an ambient detail that helps make the world feel more alive and interactable. (The other songs that can play are "RE: Your brains", "One Bad Man", "Midnight Ride", "Save Me Some Sugar", "All I Want for Christmas", and Portal's "Still Alive")
"Dead Easy" is the intro theme for the campaign "The Parish", which takes place in the overrun city of New Orleans, amidst military bombings.
15:03
After looking at the files i found that the creator of that channel mixed
2 soundtrack into 1
Pile of bile is the first part while puddle of you is the second which goes BAM BAM.
First one represent a puddle of acid and second one represent you being knocked on ground bleeding
Pretty good and fitting name huh.
4:46 It's almost like the music is being re-animated. Full circle with the zombie theming. 7:29 I like to think this part cuts to the more realistic scene of the infection. From cartoony to realism.
I'd love to see your take on "Hell March" be it 1 2 or 3 from the Red Alert series
Catching the bog setting is crazy!
I never seen someone so amazed with the incapacitated sound. So lovely bro.
Mike Morasky is a musical genius. His music along with Kelly Bailey are masterpieces.
Mike Morasky was way ahead of his time and still Left 4 Dead are just one of those games that are just perfect in every aspect.
the trumpet is playing the l4d melody in more of a swing pattern but you can for sure hear it before the transition to the banjo
i have no idea about making music or its instruments but i really enjoy watching you reviewing l4d1/2 soundtracks, its so chill and cool 🎶
keep it going! 🎵
I’m so glad you enjoyed it as much as I did I feel like this game has one of the best soundtracks when you really listen to it 🔥
11:00 the both tracks are for when you finish a level and are loading into the next one.
A reaction to HL2s ost would be awesome. Its a great mix of action tracks and ambience. I think youd enjoy it.
The last sound you hear in the song "pile of bile puddle of you" is not actually part of the song but this does play when your character is incapacitated from the infected and you lay in a pile of blood till you get rescued or die
maan, this guy just predicts or identifies and tell where sounds are beingmostly used and they're actually being used in the game.
he knows his music damn well
Yo, try listening to every intro theme of L4D2 campaigns since they have unique instrumentals that goes well with the environment of those campaigns.
on the BIle sound track, i didnt expected you to point out that much sounds i hadnt noticed and apreciated.
You may find the Silent Hill 2 soundtrack interesting. Its got a crazy amount of variety, and that remake is coming out soon.
Something that I would recommend reacting to is Elden Rings Dlc OST and the new Risk of Rain 2 dlc OST as well
They are both incredibly great and here are some songs that Id recommend from them
Elden Ring:
1: Bayle the Dread
2: Messmer the Impaler
3: Rellanas the Twin Moon Knight
Risk of Rain 2
1: Om Mani Padme Hum Part 1
2: Om Mani Padme Hum Part 3
3: I should build this man a statue
As a l4d2 player of thousands of hours. Dead Easy is hauntingly comforting, the start symbolizes the fact that the survivors are safe in the saferoom but only for the moment, though they still have the ability to view the world burning from inside it, very melancholic vibe. For a player you genuinely feel comfort in the saferoom, you're full HP (or close to it) and fully reloaded. The second half to me symbolizes the "time to get moving" portion of that scenario.
What I love about the monsters within is that it’s shows hey you escaped! Rock and roll as you hear the music
You've gotta react to the music of when the special infected are attacking and when they are lurking about.
I love how much appreciated the sound track is cuz the game play can over look some of the sound but the music that you can hear is so great the monster within is when you win the game it’s so great
15:22 that sound plays when you get downed👀
as always I love your comments in each soundtrack in l4d2 and l4d
Your professional insights are very interesting for us layman.
The music from "The Adventures of PB Winterbottom" would be a fantastic choice for your channel.
Honestly seeing you react to the Left 4 Dead 2 soundtrack makes me feel better than ever. I wish you would react to the game's menu themes.
I actually never paid attention that they hit the exposed piano strings, that is fascinating!
What a beautiful play from lion might at 10:06
I like how in every video the end of segments where he plays violin are marked with "most watched" peaks, because people are skipping all these violin segments to the end.
I'm really curious on your reaction to the mafia 2 sound track, but can I say that I like it when you add your own violin part with each song, they are great
I love watching you react to the soundtrack of this game. It’s my favorite, the sound design in this game is amazing in the way it includes its soundtrack.
All these videos on L4D made me redownload the games! Great videos, whenever I watch videos of yours i try to listen the songs I listen in a less “auto-pilot” way lol 😅
You should give the l4d2 teammate hit sounds a listen, they're like sampled versions of the tracks for when your teammates are hearing the tracks themselves... usually being torn apart while they're at it
17:50 A MUSIC THEORY!
9:59 Wow dood! That was just amazing 🤘🔥!
I speak for all of mine who were left 4 dead anytime I hear any of these tracks it brings goosebumps…… that’s aura!
Always loved L4D ost. The idea of having music for pretty much every encounter and enemy is just too good.
