I grew up near a small battery place where the man made his living recycling batteries actually unsealing the cases pulling the plates out putting them in new cases. In the early days he literally sold batteries that he would give a 10-year guarantee on because they were put in his cases. He was able to guarantee them based on the thickness of the plates and how much residual space was in the bottom of the battery case, because the most common failure of a car batteries in those days was grounding plates, the sulfated plates fall to the bottom and eventually short out the cells.
early year model 12v. batt. had a space between the bottom of the batt for the burned particles to settle and keep the crap away .saw this feature in a 1950 atlas battery full page add. the batterys that last are obselite now.
Lithium batteries will last for 10 to 15 years, with triple the run time. Just have to be careful about charging, uses specific chargers, and unplug them when unattended. Used medical lithium batteries are dirt cheap on ebay.
I worked building Diehard an Interstate batteries. They thought us to fill battery cells further away from you an back towards you. So if acid splatters, your hands an arms will be out of the way!
Even a lead-acid battery died, it should show some voltage. I think you did not contact the multimeter leads firmly onto battery poles, or you waste our times... What is the percentage of the hydrogen peroxide? What is final capacity of the battery?
It's very common for a sealed acid battery to cook the cells and evaporate the distilled water out and the acid becomes what they call sulfated it's just a powder residue. The hard thing is to clean it up after that and restore it s ability to hold the charge without having to completely disassemble the battery which no one in my studies of different methods has proven it to work I've tried anyways but it's the main concern with the SLA batteries they're not sealed they will boil over and dry up and the cells go dead just makes more money for the battery companies. This video just makes more money for the clicks I'm assuming. Another proof of throw away culture worldwide it's quote unquote easier just to buy a new one and in the end it's usually cheaper and easier because you will end up with a superior product, unless you got nothing but time on your hands and a box of battery acid to fill up said battery once it's cleaned. In the end you'll save time money just go buy a new battery!!
sum places still sell the batt dry.with the acid seperate. and will not sell acid alone.just got one for my mc....but the y installed the acid themself. the batt got hot on my way home had 2 charge it . before the install.
Just one thing, you need take the *acidity rate, before adding* (otherwise it's anything). This allows you to dose the strict necessary. I am a road and this is what we did in the workshop of the transport box where we did it ourselves, on large 24V batteries.
If you put it too much or not enough, you may have a battery that does not hold the charge in time, or it can be reached too quickly. The secret for this acid change to be effective is to add the necessary rate, neither too much nor too little, and this is not a question of level.
@@GausDIY Or you fully replace the acid contained in the battery, but the best is to just go, by regularly checking the acidity rate, and adding if necessary and according to the degree of acidity that you have in the battery. This makes it possible to extend the lifespan of the batteries, which is why I recommend buying a pear and an acidity tester.
It makes sense. There are videos of batteries being recycled by removing the scale on the led plates and re-acidifying. Wear eye protection, etc. when dealing with strong acids.
What if you live in Haiti, Africa, or a thousand other countries? He is actually dissolving crystals that short out the cell. Maybe some people have enough smarts to actually solve an issue
Hydrogen gas is a battery byproduct. Sticking your fingers in an electrical circuit to ascertain if there is voltage also works. I used to PLC systems and was always around high voltage. I wore electricians safety boots but most workers wore sneakers amoung bad habits. Even high voltage DC can kill you when well grounded. I notice in the comments there is no shortage of stupid people. I've been whacked by dead three phase lines while installing low voltage control and monitoring lines but was spared by wearing proper gear because some idiot flipped to circuit on while I was working. Woke up looking at blue sky.
Ehhhh..... One minute starting from what point in your 9 minutes and 22 seconds long video? PS Bikers have been doing this kind of thing for years, rinsing out the battery with distilled water and then pouring the old fluid back in. I did it several times to an Allstate I was running in my old Harley. Never let me down either.
This project is not only creative but also very practical. Thanks for sharing this amazing idea!
I'm glad you found it helpful! Have a good day Bro!

That would be why I've seen vidios where they clean them out and put in new electrolyte and they work like new

Why was there no acid in the battery at the start?

I think I have those batteries clamps around the house, gonna have to try this
Works but only for a very short time. Just get a new battery!
What is the percentage strength of the hydrogen peroxide?
Store grade or a commercial grade strength?

So what was the Foxsur unit for in the video? It wasn't even connected to anything.
me 2..still wondering
1st = H2O2
2nd = H2O
3rd = H2SO4
✅
Check resistance on battery before doing this if resistance is 10 or more it's junk
Aren't you going to float it up to 14.8 volts for a full charge

A glass matt battery is not supposed to have contaminated Plates, usually the water in the acid is dried out..
Nice job god bless
Thank!
Which god?
If you split in two parts a sealed battery the inner lead is completely corroded...
i like that cleaning by syringe trick...
Very temporary. Great yourself a new battery so you won't be stuck 50 miles from home
Interesting, but the video took over seven minutes, not one minute as claimed in the clickbait.
Wait what if the cell plates are broken and I do all this work and my battery still wont transfer the amperage I need at start up.
Wait a minute there! What did you do with the pulse charger?
Its good. God bless you 🙏🙏🙏

Think I'll buy a new one
This sounds like a game changer! My phone battery is terrible, I need to know this trick!
It won't work on Lithium Ion batteries - this is a lead-acid battery.
It will never have the power of a new one. Second that cant fis a shorted cell. When it is 10 below zero out I am not taking a chance on old battery.

What strength is the hydrogen peroxide? 3% or ?
You can get like %30 a beauty supply store
انا سالت اكثر من مصلح للبطاريات قالو ان البطاريه الجافه لها مده محده بعدها لا تصلح للعمل
This is not a dry battery. This is a wet, lead acid battery.
For god sake buy a new battery

Read about peroxymonosulfuric acid before doing this.
Merci ....شكر...
Merci :)
Dangerous stuff . Doesn't work and if you accidentally cause a spark the battery could explode causing serious injuries and damage.
inserting steel needle to battery lead plates inside.. 😵💫

Just buy a new battery. Less caustic to you and your environment.

$100, I disagree w/you Ed.
Yes buy a new batt. That battery sells for about $40.00. However this video is better than the ones using coke or Dr. Pepper.
Dang, I threw away my last battery.
After you fixed it, does the battery now become a wet battery, instead of dry?
It's wet battery. Thank!
What % of Hydrogen Peroxide did you use? Just standard drug store strength?
That is a 24v battery you are fixing ! Not 12v. ????
No, It's a 12V battery
It had six cells, so it’s 12 volts.

A fully charged 12v battery should read 14.5v on the test meter. 12.5 and below is a duff battery.
12.7 is fully charged. You'll only see more when it's actually being charged or just taken off the charger.
12.7 is correct for a lead acid battery.
LOL. So basically fill it with hydrogen peroxide let sit then flush it out with clean distilled water before refilling it with proper electolyte.
