Paddy, I'm sharpening knives profesionally for 2 decades. If my experience nad opinion counts to you, I wanted to say, that the CC4 is the BEST portable sharpening system I've ever used. Both in terms pof performance, and in terms of quality. Of course it can be use indoors too, if you don't care for super polished edges, that have no scratches, then the CC4 can be literally, the one and only sharpening stone, to keep your blades sharp!!

I love this stone. I have bought a couple of nice pocket blades that I use at work for my sparse moments of cutting cardboard, plastic bands, twine, and shrink wrap. This CC4 is great for MAINTAINING a great edge. Maintaining it BEFORE it gets crazy dull, is best. A couple of laps on the ceramic side at the end of the day, or during the day, is all that's needed.

Thanks Paddy, we grew up with carbon steel and then the supersteel were 420 and 440 and it worked . It just shows if you can learn to sharpen your knife you do have to have the latest and greatest. Thanks

I've tried and tried, and I've NEVER been able to successfully freehand sharpen a knife. I just ordered this cc4 in order to try again. May the gods help me...

Hi Paddy, Well, Ive found it. Only spent a third of my gift,I bought a Spyderco "Urban". Had it on me for over a week now and I find for me its perfection. Dont think I had a particular "grail knife" but this is a "Goldilocks". Wanted to get a UK legal knife to get rid of the anxiety of being jammed up carrying a lock knife. My god I found a beauty slippy. The click stops are sublime.. Just right finger choil. One handed opening and closing. Yes its expensive when you consider the likes of a Ganzo F759M but the Spyderco is legal and just better, fit, finish, great blade steel. A well engineered scalpel sharp feather!. So with the left over money I think I will be going back to HH for the other 2 in the "Slipit" family. The "UKPK and the "SQUEAK". But the "URBAN" is going to be my EDC for a very long time I think. ATB mate. P.S.
It would be a interesting and a good show if you could get hold of the "Slipit range to review. UK legal/Is a lock a must have?.

Good video, sharpening is definitely something that intimidates people I feel, and it really doesn't have to be complicated if all you want is a working edge. And from there it's all practice.
Definitely messed up the finish of the cheap paring knife I first practiced on, but I got it sharper that it ever was on that first evening.
I have one of the small Fallkniven stones with the diamond plate, a cheap whetstone from the hardware store, and a couple of strops that I made from an old belt. Also recently got a little portable diamond rod for serrations and recurves but I haven't really used it yet. I'd like to try a guided system at some point but for the time being I'm good to go.

Very practical and informative.I bought the cc4 on your recommendation and my only issue is I wish it was a tad longer but I will be using it on my Spyderco hopefully shortly if I can get the grand kid out of the way. I know you know how that is lol. thx mate, Furbs.

Thanks for that Paddy. I’ve just found a couple of knives, both of which are blunt. So, as you’ve just inspired me, I might do the Army clasp knife this afternoon. The 8” Bowie, won’t get the Lansky treatment today.

I've reduced both band-aid use and blood loss by holding the blade still and moving the stone on the edge. All the best.

Hello paddy, good morning to ya. Free hand isn't my thing. And when I need to put an edge back on I'll go to 1500 grit for a burr then strop it. It's much easier to maintain an edge with a strop then to let it go dull then have to resharpen imo. I learned how to sharpen free hand but I can't get as near as sharp as in my kme

Love these charpening videos! But I don't know if I can afford to watch any more of your videos. First it was Ganzo (I got 6 of them, and 2 more on the way) + a bunch of others from GearBest, DHgate and Aliexpres. Then came the GECs (got 4 and one on the way shortly) and now it's Rough Riders? Is there no end to this madness? 🤣😂😂🤣

This is far better than my bottom of a cup method haha great example of sharpening not being too scary. Would you consider one of the rough rider knife kits as a series, I am just doing one and they are harder than they look.
    Hope you’re well.

    All the best.

Just done an update video on it last week. It's amazing. You just use a cleaning powder like vim and scrub it. It comes up like new. I've added a diamond stone on the front and strop on the back. Complete system. Atb paddy 👍☘️😀

Paddy, after watching thos vid I picked up the cc4 and am practicing with it. The thing is, I'm getting pretty good results when alternating hands. Should I continue this way or keep trying to learn with the same hand? I'm new to freehand sharpening.
