More than 1,000 cases of acid attacks were reported in India nationwide between 2017 and 2021. But the actual number may be much higher. Ritu Saini was a victim of a horrific acid attack 11 years ago. Working at a cafe in the Indian city of Noida in Delhi-NCR, Saini has since been serving as an advocate for fellow acid attack victims by campaigning for the rights of survivors and volunteering to help victims get treatment.

We need stricter laws like dissolving the perpetrator in acid. Then watch how acid attacks stops overnight. Nothing will happen because our lawmakers themselves are molesters
They may have been disfigured but they have grown much stronger. I admire those ladies. May they live a long and happy lives and continue their fight to stop this bad behaviour from men.

What an AMAZING woman. Her strength and positivity in the face of such devastating injuries is absolutely inspirational. Many acid attack victims do not fare well emotionally but clearly not her. And you can how she lifts the spirits of her fellow victims around her. Just an incredible lady with an incredible attitude and we could all learn from her example.

Media promotes dating, on tv , mobiles, everywhere but it's still unacceptable in indian society, so, it makes more difficult for males to approach females, even for females cause they aren't allowed by families. Which is why Indian boys are mostly refused and they take it as rejection, and then, some wanna take revenge like this.

Why would anyone do this to another human being??? The attackers need to be prosecuted and given life w/o parol. This is truly terrifying… I feel sorry for anyone who has to endure this nightmare.
Look up their laws they are as mess up as those in china. Women don't have a lot of laws that protect them. I feel bad for children in India so much dark stuff happens in that country and nobody says anything same as in china

I am an Indian, I’m shocked to see such crimes in my country. These are so common and it hurts my brain to see this happen.
It is crazy how most of them get attacked because they rejected someone … those attackers have such low self esteem
You can really see how they rose up stronger than before they were attacked....Their solidarity is inspiring and I know that their work brings society closer to absorbing their message
The men who did this are now free? I still remember hearing when some of these attacks occurred how can it be possible that their sentences are so short for something so heinous?

In Iran a woman who was attacked with acid refused reparation money and the judge allowed her to pour the same acid on her attacker's face. Now that is justice! ⚖️ 🙌 👏

They only got two to three years jail for ruining a woman's whole life
If you want to stop a form of crime, you need to make its corresponding punishment as equally as gruesome and undesirable. Those who do this kind of stuff need to spend the rest of their life in prison and be denied any form of contact with their loved ones.

Only cowards do something like this… it takes great courage and strength to persevere every day like this. Nobody could possibly fathom what type of horror this is, but with nowhere left to go these women strive to rise up. I’m glad they have found their support system.

Ritu and her team is very brave and honorable, they choose to help more women in need instead of staying as a victim. Their only fault was being beautiful, and they still remain so.
Very infuriating to see these kind of attacks on women. But some of these survivors did show those pathetic men as well as the world a very deep lesson in life. You disfigured them because your ego and pride cannot accept a woman can disobey you or be better than you so you try to destroy their lives and futures by doing these inhumane things to them. Some of them did die in body and spirit due to your weakness and wickedness but those that survive and can put their past behind and still live their lives with their dignity intact are telling you how much of a worm you are in life.
Anyway India need to do a lot of things in this world in order to be respect by others in life. The willingness to act on laws,population issues,gender equality issues and education. Social classism issues in India is a very ancient and deadly poison still surviving In the hearts of many over there.

India is unlivable in nearly every respect. Failed State India ranks 107 on Hunger Index, 132 on HDI, 180 on EPI, 126 on Happiness Index. There are specific temples in India (like Chilkur Balaji) where Indians pray for visa to run away🙏🙏

I left the UK partly because I felt the acid and knife attacks were getting out of hand (though in the UK the perpetrators aren't necessarily Indians). Hope the women can live their lives in peace without fear.

That's a shame nobody helped except the brother, maybe they could educate people where this is most common on how to help. Some advice I've heard and summarized:
- If the acid is powder, brush it off
- Flood the burn with water (at least 20 minutes)
- try and gently remove any clothing with the substance on it
- Thoroughly wash the eye if acid has gone there
- Don't remove contacts, and don't allow contaminated hands or water to touch eyes
- If the eye is uninjured, cover it so no contaminants get onto it

That is a punishable offense a sentence to life in prison.
I think the authorities should do something about these acid attacks. It's really inhumane. So so awful.
There's no justice, until you do both, give those devils the same 'acid treatment' and long, hard imprisonment.
At least in one country, Iran, they allow the victims to punish their assailants with their own hands. If the victim isn't alive, her nearest relative.
Only strict laws are there in India but no enforcement makes them useless. They easily get bail and that's the time when they destroy evidences while courts are waiting for the next date for hearing and when it comes they are acquitted due to lack of evidence. That's a brutal joke here in India.
