@@kevinnosx9 I don't know, but I think it's erupting in part because the Galapagos Islands are located at a joint where multiple "tectonic plates" come together: The Nazca plate, the Cocos plate, and the very large Pacific plate. There apparently is a "Galapagos micro-plate" where the islands exist. In general tectonic plates all move, and underneath plates on Earth is a magma layer. So it looks like the answer is, the plates moved a little Just Because, and that allowed some magma to squirt through the crack that formed, and it managed to squeeze all the way to the surface, resulting in this hot lava video. I think it is neat stuff.
