Great video Stephen. You like me probably remember the golden era of arcades back in the late 80s early 90s. You should cover the new ‘Arcade Club’ in south shore, it’s supposed to be amazing!

I love arcades and I'm always in them. Coral Island is the best arcade I ever been in, I love the Ghost Train and Monorail in there, You never see any other arcades with good rides in them. The pirate theme and outside decoration is also cool, imo its the best arcade in the UK.
I haven't been to Blackpool since the late 90's but from the mid 80's I used to go on holidays when I was a kid I'm an avid gamer as well so arcade machines were my first stop lucky star, carousel, coral Island North South and Central piers just to name a few, i even went to the arcades inside the winter gardens, I can't believe how much its changed all carnival games and slot machines now.
Great video, never realised it stayed open that late of a Saturday. I love the camel derby and the atmosphere in there in general. Also the Bucaneer is one of my fav spots. 🙂

A huge place, Stephen, and I never knew that it's on the site of the old Central station. Well that was a busy station in its day and should never have closed. There appears to be a glut of those grab machines, and the over 18s entertainment sections seem to have fences outside them. Well, no wonder Blackpool has the nickname of the Las Vegas of the North. It's certainly an eye-opener. Many thanks for this showing, and take care.
@@john111257 the building should've remained standing and been renovated but you can't keep a railway station operating if there's no serious demand for one anymore.

The entrance to central station used to be on the other side of the road where i believe the car park and the market is now i was probably about ten at the time and i remember that as my mother used to work in the Queens theatre that area was always an extremely busy place ....i have never been inside Coral island but next time i get down to Blackpool i must go it looks really good, thanks for showing us this Stephen.
I did mention in a previous video that the entrance to the station was at New Bonny St, but I don't think that road existed then. Old photographs appear to show the entrance opposite the Edith Centre, which is where MaDonalds is at the start of the video.
I remember Coral Island in the early 80's .There was parrot ride,on a monorail that went over the heads of everyone and even travelled on the outside of the building. The bar in it at night used to have live music. My late dad liked it because there was jazz band at times.Looks like it's mostly gambling machine nows. There was more kids fun things then in it.Large shooting ranges with moving life sized figures and animals.Pacman.Space invaders etc.The days before home consoles.

Had great time in coral Island as a kid, but when I went back with my nieces there's very few actual games any more it's all either ticket machines or gamblers
I used to work in coral island for years I remember you coming in a lot a few years ago the teddy bear machines are set on every £51 pound they grip a teddy and release it
i can remember in the 80,90,s walking away with about 50 soft cuddly toys over a long weekend from them grabbing machines it was based on skill as they always grabbed. a funfair owner told me it was to get people in through the door to play other machines . then they changed the way they grabbed as the cuddly toys became more expensive to buy in they programmed them only to grab every 100 operated coins . so if you were the hundredeth coin operative person to use that machine youd be the lucky one but only if you grabbed the toy the jaws would not release . so your right stephen these days its not on skill its just you being the lucky one :) great video ,used to love the 2p coin drops where you exchanged tickets for bigger prizes when i was a kid ,but always remember my mother grabbing me every ten minutes to wipe your hands clean with disinfectant wet wipes and telling me not to bang the machines with your backside when loads of money was hanging over the edge , great days and missed days :(
Looks like it's changed abit in the last year or two a few bits moved around we all love coral Island! I believe it was sold of to a German company for around 80million if I remember rightly reading it somewhere I was very concerned about the fire back in 2019 I thought we was going lose another great building ! Just out of curiosity...as a kid mum & dad would take me onto the Pleasure Beach & outside the fun house there used to be something similar to Zoltar a pupet of a woman in a glass booth with a hideous laugh that used to freak me out...

Hi, Stephen. Your best vid ever, mate! I used to love playing in the arcades at Skeggy; Dragon's Lair, Ghosts & Goblins and Track & Field then having a burger and chips after! Mablethorpe arcade Fancy That! was good, but the arcade over the road had a hydraulic 'Space Harrier' machine; no guesses where I spent my school hols when I was 8👍😂👍
The reason that they have so many over 18 sections is the law changed recently that says that now only over 18s can play fruit machines for money, however they did not change the law on allowing under 18s playing fruit machines for tickets, I personally don't understand this what's the difference between gambling for money or tickets its still gambling, this is also why the cash pay out fruit machines even the 10p play £5 jackpot ones have been removed from the main floor in Coral Island fortunately arcades like Happy Days have kept them for those of us that still want a little play but not wanting to have to play at the kind of stakes that the over 18s areas have
@@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool To be honest not many people would know, unless they are either an arcade owner/operator or like me have an interest in Fruit Machines, mainly classics played on the fruit machine emulator, and the subject of my small you tube channel.
Blackpool hasnt been the same since the arcades moved away from video games. I miss those days. I know ‘Arcade Club’ is there now but that's just one arcade. Needs more.
I love your videos but i really miss the walks along the seafront that Leroy used to do. Could you maybe do one once a week ? Would be great to see all the folks on the seafront again 🙂👍
I wish people would not keep on about the cranes never picking up teddies, if they didn’t it would be illegal, remember everything in the room can be won at sometime I work in a arcade & we sure do get through some stock of teddies

I spend a whole day in coral island when i visit. I collect my machine tickets and save them every visit till there is a substantial amount to cash in. Currently have over 2500 to cash
@Booped Nose its a whole co op bag full n more, im not actually sure how many are there lol, definitely more then afew sweeties. Last lot i cashed in only saved for a small prize as my cousin wanted one of the sworofski crystal bears in the boxes n they have a middle range prize teir.
My little one once walked up to me with loads - I asked her where she got them from ‘cos she was only gone ten minutes - she said if you pull on them while it’s dispensing the tickets, you can have as many as you want...!
@@billiebluesheepie2907 it's not how it works unfortunately, the machines release counted tickets in line, (mostly on the coin slider juvinile machines) they will only release the number of tickets won on that machine the most being a max of15 to 20. Some of the bigger machines that pay out tickets near the casino area pay out a max jackpot of 40 plus tickets, but its a 'high roller' at a pound a go.
Oasis > Coral Island. I remember they had a 6 player Daytona USA setup at the entrance alongside a seated Virtua Fighter 2 cab. That was back when arcade gaming was miles more powerful than what was offered by Sega and Nintendo in the home. How about a tour of 'Arcade Club' thats just opened it's Blackpool branch?
Buckeneer is alright, just don’t go in the Flagship lol, twenty years ago, I remember me and my mate being charged £3.80 for a bottle of bud, robbing fkers 😂 I thought we was expensive in the bier Keller, no local prices in the flagship. Not local now but grew up in Blackpool.

My mate does jack sparrow there known him years we work together at derby gaol doing the ghost hunts as well he as it coral island most Saturdays
I was in there last year... my little girl she wanted a Teddy out one of the graber machines it cost me about £50 !
Hi, Stephen. Your best vid ever, mate! I used to love playing in the arcades at Skeggy; Dragon's Lair, Ghosts & Goblins and Track & Field then having a burger and chips after! Mablethorpe arcade Fancy That! was good, but the arcade over the road had a hydraulic 'Space Harrier' machine; no guesses where I spent my school hols when I was 8👍😂👍
I'll have to go to Skeggy pal.
What a great video stephen,I love coral island even though I spend a week's wages everytime I'm in 😂.
Hi Stephen. I believe Leroy has been found according to Chris the £1.00 burger man but not heard any news for a few weeks
The reason that they have so many over 18 sections is the law changed recently that says that now only over 18s can play fruit machines for money, however they did not change the law on allowing under 18s playing fruit machines for tickets, I personally don't understand this what's the difference between gambling for money or tickets its still gambling, this is also why the cash pay out fruit machines even the 10p play £5 jackpot ones have been removed from the main floor in Coral Island fortunately arcades like Happy Days have kept them for those of us that still want a little play but not wanting to have to play at the kind of stakes that the over 18s areas have
Thanks for the info. I was not aware of those laws.
Needs more.
I love old arcades 😎😎😎 they aswum
I love your videos but i really miss the walks along the seafront that Leroy used to do. Could you maybe do one once a week ? Would be great to see all the folks on the seafront again 🙂👍
Has Leroy shown his face at all, I miss fish and chip Friday, who knew?!?😉
According to Chris the one pound burger man . Leroy will be making a comback soon and to explaine why he went missing for ages
Hi another great video keep it up best wishes to you.
I wish people would not keep on about the cranes never picking up teddies, if they didn’t it would be illegal, remember everything in the room can be won at sometime I work in a arcade & we sure do get through some stock of teddies
Great video Stephen.
Thanks Tony 👍
That was brill thanks 😋
Good video Stephen!
Thanks Sophie 🙏
Hi enjoyed that but what are you doing out at 11.30pm lol. Anyway star of Blackpool see you in the next one ♥️
I was coming back from the pub! 🍺🍺🍺
The place were we us to take the family for a meal at a great price. Now being on a sensible food eating diet me and my wife take sandwiches when we visit Blackpool my children who have now grown up do they Owen things my son likes the cheapest Burger in town
Maybe a toaster lol
@@HolyFreakinDragonSlayer - it definitely happened, but I should have added that she’s in her 30’s now!
Hi Stephen. Great review. Can you do a review of the fish and chip shop, I have heard good reviews of it and of the snack bar too.
I love it in coral island it’s probably the closest thing to being in Las Vegas 🎰
The fish and chips ( the chippy bit not the restaurant bit ) were always really good so must have gone down hill a bit
