As someone still grappling with the conflicting emotions of mourning a family member who caused so much pain... this really cuts deep and I adore the way she writes about it.
This is one of my favorite of hers. Something about her closing line, “lord, if we’re not a family of good intentions and cut off hands”

She's mourning a brother who took his own life, which is how I interpreted it.
I was honored enough to see this live when she first performed it. It was one of the most beautiful and sad moments - just adore her.
