I’m living for Josie’s content at the moment🤗🤗
Fazena B thank you!!
Fashion Mumblr I love history so I’m genuinely enjoying story time of your gem of a home😍🤗
Agreed! Her new home is my dream lifestyle 😍
Fashion Mumblr Josie I don't know if you noticed- you might want to edit the video (the part with the photos) since it says where you live. Best wishes xx
Fazena B totally agree.
Priest-holes were used primarily in the 15th and 16th centuries by catholic priests after the Henry VIII sacked the monasteries when he wanted to divorce Cathrine of Arrogan . Catholic’s still continued to practice their faith but were worried they’d be discovered. If there was a raid, they’d be executed, so some wealthy families built these hiding places for their priests and cupboards for their articles of mass. Amazing to have such an important part of history in your home. Xx
Luke Drysdale Catherine of Aragon 😉
Luke Drysdale.... There are always these people who are living to point out someone's mistake 😒
Wow, thanks! These guys really have a huge responsibility to keep this house as part of history.
Merci beaucoup pour l info, c est justement ce que je n’avais pas compris.alors enfaite, ils utilisaient cette petite “cabine” pour prier..... très intéressant. Merci. 🌺🌸🌺
Super interesting
Gosh, you could get married in the local church and have the reception in your beautiful garden. So happy for you! Yes please, love these daily updates, if you have the energy..
Cin-d Marie exactly what I thought!! 😃
Will be THE MOST WONDERFUL
Romantic .. 🌹💛🌹
PERFECT wedding of the CENTURY
🌹🥰🌹
i am re watching josie old vlogs just after their wedding and i saw your comment
its exactly what they did, loved your positive comment that came true years later, idk if you will ever come across this but i wish you have a wonderful life with full of happiness 💜
Am so enjoying how Charlie is more interactive on the vlogs now you're in the new house.
It's too cool that he is such a fun guy and I love how he cares about the garden, her needs and wishes, their shopping, his decorating, it's all great. What a beautiful lucky lady Josie is.
Those old photos of the house in shambles just about made me cry. I really needed to see that things can be restored to be beautiful and bring happiness again. It all just tied into what's happening in the world for me. That plus the age of the house, the photos of old residents... I love the romantic feel it gives your entire home. Just imagine all the lives that passed through and all the events that took place there. The epic love stories, the laughter, the passionate arguments, the grief. You've really chosen a spectacular home.
Glad I'm not the only one who cried. lol
The history is actually very interesting. I am very glad that you told us.
Hannah's Rainbow Dog fascinating isn’t it!!
agreed!
@@JosieIrons Yes very much!
Imagine Christmas time in the house !
So appreciate that both you and Charlie have taken us along on this wonderful journey you have gone on. I think your content has expanded greatly.
The house is gorgeous and it was redone amazingly well! As a conservationist myself, it is not a small feat to do it properly while maintaining its originality, so well done! In my professional opinion, I would do nothing massive to the fireplace, just put some protective iron gates in front of it, it is one of the original and most beautiful features of the room so it would be a shame to cover it! Enjoy it! I love the vlogs and am looking forward to many more!
Sara's_Secrets yes that’s a good shout!!
I imagine that the Grade 11 listing would mean that very little can be done to the fabric of the house without consent
Omg!!!!! This takes me back to our “forever home” 30 years ago. We bought a beautiful Georgian property with 2 acres of garden. The gardens back then, because of the size were more or less just lawn but we had the whole garden designed. We had it designed so that the area closest to the house was beautiful & formal and then it expanded to more grass space but the whole garden was surrounded by deep herbaceous borders. Gardening became my life. I loved it but it’s hard work!!!!!! A little tip, if you don’t mind me saying. Have an area of the garden directly from the house that is low maintenance and that you can enjoy without seeing the whole garden, because trust me, when you have a large garden you can never truly relax and enjoy it because you will always be bugged by the little things that need doing. Eg, those weeds that popped up within a few days. Make the rest of the garden like secret little gardens. That way, you can enjoy them as and when. Anyway, just giving a little bit from my experience of an old house with a large garden. Congratulations to you both on your new home. It’s beautiful and I wish you both good health and happiness 😘
Josie, more than anything, I absolutely LOVE your appreciation and your gratitude for all the parts of your life. It is THE thing that keeps me glued to your online content ... that you never take anything for granted, that you always talk about how lucky you FEEL ... it is the epitome of graciousness. I LOVE that. Bless you. May you continue to live an exquisite life (I also know how hard you work for it!). Your attitude makes you a wonderful model ... and your positivity sort of proves the theory that "What you focus on expands" !
I am very excited to watch this clip about the history of the house!!
Your videos are the highlight of my day lately.
Your home content is dreamy and aspirational. The master bathroom is so beautyful it looks unreal.
So basically your house is from mediaeval times that is insane! I’m in love as a history lover this is the definition of a dream house to me!! ✨
Love seeing people happy and in a good place in their lives. Such a beautiful home and beautiful doggy’s too.
i can’t wait for all the ghost stories that you’re going to tell us!!
Her recent garden video had a ghostly figure in the window of the upstairs bedroom..You could see it..Creepy
@@elainebenis2230 I came to read the comments bc I saw several people in these pics she's showing.
The house is DREAMY Josie! ☺️😩 We are so happy for you! You deserve it! Been watching you from the start and we hope one day to be successful like you, which our own channel. Love you!xxx
Joy & Rosie thank you so much!! 💓💓💓
I am an American. I stumbled across your vlog and I am addicted. I think the two of you and your 2 canine babies are just so incredibly beautiful and adorable. I wish you all so very much health, happiness and love for many, many decades to come. God bless 🙌!
Very interesting. I bet this house cost a fortune being redone but definitely worth every penny. 😊 enjoy every minute there. ❤️

Such a gorgeous home! The little door in the fireplace was used to keep the salt dry.
It's actually a bread oven 😊
I know this is crazy but I can’t wait to see your first Christmas!!
I thought same, Christmas in that beautiful house with such a stylish, lovely couple. Dreamy!
This comment made me so excited
Such a beautiful thing that you and Charlie are such loving stewards of such a historical property. It could not be in better hands than yours. It's beautifully renovated, and your personal style and filling it with your love will optimize its beauty. Your content is so engaging and perfect. No need to feel you have to take it in any direction that your spirit isn't feeling like it wants to go. Everything that you are sharing is wonderful and interesting. I'm simply overjoyed for you.
I enjoyed listening about a history of your new house. Perhaps there are some secret passages through the house? Seeing the old pictures, your previous owner did a tremendous job. The house is excellently restored. 😊 And now to that dress- it suits you perfectly! 🙂👍
Your house sounds so interesting, and your so gorgeous. Favourite influencer ever 💕💕
Josie, I’m enjoying your house vlogs so much! This is exactly the kind of property I would love to own one day. Congratulations to you both, and thank you for sharing it with us xx
Josie your new old home is absolutely gourgeous ❤. My husband who is a big coffee geek has really approved of Charlie's latest purchase. He also liked his knifes and pots. 😊
Crazy how much a little makeup can make you feel much better and more like yourself! I’m really enjoying the daily vlogs because they’re so natural and have me feeling like I’m there in the sunshine too! 🥰
The circle formation is the flower of life. It is ancient sacred geometry. It symbolizes the cycle of life and how everything is connected.
I am sure EVERYONE loves your vlogs with Charlie, Dexter and Dickens. It's like watching a great tv show and also flipping though a Cotswold magazine with such beauty. How entertained can we be? What a magnificent couple, home, dogs and life you two have. Thank you
It’s so nice to see you both appreciate the history of your beautiful new old home 🏡
Oh, my, Josie! Thank you for sharing a bit of the history of the house. The conservationist who restored the structure truly did justice to the project. As an enthusiast of historic properties, I can't help but admire those who consider their tenure of ownership as a sacred trust to maintain and protect such important assets of culture and history. You've taken on a weighty stewardship, but I hope you will find it deeply enriching. Love from The U.S.
staying up till 2 in the morning Australian time, just so you can watch two new videos from Josie in one day!👌 If that's not commitment I don't know what is😅 Love your work Josie 😚🤗
Hehe me too!
Josie, I've watched every episode I can find (online) of Escape To The Country and have NEVER seen a house as beautiful as yours. The renovation is absolutely beyond the beyond. (It makes me proud to be English. The care that is taken in the UK towards restoring and respecting ...!!!). Please tell the people you bought it from how admired their work is. Seriously, I find it moving. I am so happy for YOU that you have found such a gem, because you are so appreciative. You deserve this great beauty of a house, I know you and Charlie will take great care of it ... and all of THAT makes me deeply happy. Well done!!
Such a beautiful home! Love hearing the Church bells in the background💒
How wonderful that Charlie and you are owning a home with so much history. That beam is awesome, thank you for sharing Shalom.
The dogs are simply adorable
So happy for u dear, wot a beautiful house u deserve the best,u have a kind and sweet soul. I only met u once n my life in boots Stafford and wot we see n the screen is exactly wot u are.xoxo
Wow, the previous owners did an absolutely magnificent job of restoring that beautiful rectory. They have done a stunning job and have got the mix between old and new perfect!! My fave type of historic property, doesn't feel like a museum because of modern touches but have kept all the character and key features like panelling, windows etc.
2 videos in one day!!! I'm in heaven 🥰🥰 thanks Josie xx 💞💞
What a fascinating piece of history you are living in!! The stories that house could tell if the walls could talk. You have the best of both worlds - the old part of the house that dates back to 14th Century but also a beautifully renovated bathroom and kitchen that is functional. Very much looking forward to seeing how you transform it and make it your own.
Love the houses in the UK, I wish we had beautiful historic homes like that in the US, super envious of that palace like master bathroom too! 😍😍😍
Loving the vlog style videos, can’t wait for the final house tour!!!
These daily vlogs are honestly my favourites on RUclips right now!
I look forward to these everyday! I’m so glad I’m 7hrs behind London time because I wake up to a new video every morning and it’s so great ❤️ Thank you for working so hard 💕
Josie, we just moved into an old historic home on an Army base in the US. I love the history of the home! My favorite feature of the home is our “dead doors”- the doors that used to be functional and now don’t open at all! I think they’re neat and show the original plans for the home
Oh this house and grounds are just amazing and as if that wasn't enough that dress is absolutely gorgeous.
Hi Josie & Charlie your new home is another level..😃😃😃
Glad to see you aren’t following other influencers cookie cutter interior style of homes. Grey and panelling everywhere.
Your home is so unique. Thank you for the history of your stunning home, so fascinating.😍😍😍
I’m so excited for the future vlogs. Interior design is favouriteeee thing haha and I was so excited to find out that you were both moving out to your dream home. The countryside is a beautiful place and any recommendations for places to go , nice fields to take the dogs for a walk or little cafes just let me know. I recommend looking on oka , they have some beautiful things that would go perfectly with the aesthetic of your new home. I know that they had a lovely tufted coffee table with weathered oak. I hope your both settling is well and enjoying and getting used to the new scenery. Wishing you all the best.
Josie, your new home is incredible. I am thrilled that you are showing the old photos next to the current shots of the building. And that you are showing the “before” pix of the house before you paint and furnish it to yours and Charlie’s taste. What an epic adventure for the two of you. It would be lovely to have your wedding in your beautiful garden! Please keep on sending these videos. I love that you do your I boxing’s as the deliveries
Continued....unboxings as the deliveries come. It is real life for you and I am enjoying these vlogs tremendously!
Such a wonderful house, I would say that with the house being Medieval times your little 'priest" knock being a Catholic it would have been from the reformation times not revolution...but who knows:) wonderful historical property xx Regards from Guernsey Channel Islands xx
I’m LOVING YOUR HOME, Jo and Charlie! So happy for SUCH an authentic couple. From the Priest closet to the Well in the Pantry.... this is an AUTHENTIC ENGLISH home. Perfecto!
The picture with the people in it, clothing looks to be 1930’s. The priests hole, was used to hide the priest during the time when Catholics were not allowed to worship freely. This was a backlash from the fires at Smithfield where Protestants were burned to death for not converting to Catholicism. That was during Mary Tudors reign. Old houses like yours, and definitely during Queen Elizabeth the firsts reign often had chapels in the house. I read a lot! I’ve read English Novels, history, true books since I was 14. I’m 60! Hope this helps
The clothes made me think of the 1930s as well.
Thank you Josie! It was so nice to see everything. As a history geek, it was amazing to see a priest hole in someone's actual home. I also liked the fireplace that kept witches from coming in- what every home needs.
Mary Bissell crazy isn’t it!
Your vlogs about the house are so so interesting, can't believe how destroyed it once was! It's amazing to see how it gets more beautiful every video 😍
So so cool to see old pictures and understand the history of the house you bought!
Thank you so much for sharing this amazing journey with us! Never clicked this fast on a video 😘😘😘
From the unofficial residents in your new home, we live for this content. Discovering the nooks and crannies of this house is such a joyous journey. Thank you for taking us along for this educational and entertaining ride /walk through, Josie.
Stunning house
Love your new home, just gorgeous! I have found pouring boiling water on the weeds growing through the bricks in your paths work really well. You need to be careful not to splash your toes, but it is a less expensive, and an eco way to deal with weeds. Of course make sure your fur babies are not around you. You can do this once (or a couple of times), and then usually after one day (24-36 hours), you can sweep the weeds up. Vinegar works well also (not on gardens as it kills the roots with any plants), but it is easier to use boiling water - less issue with buying and carting bottles back home. Many blessings to you both with your new venture - how wonderful! Congratulations! From Australia.
I'm in love with your house 😄🌞😄💕. Is just like fairy tale. Wish you a beautiful , fairy tale life there ❤️💕🌞

THANKYOU for sharing.
Thank you so, so, so much for sharing your home with us. I feel so privileged that you're letting us into the history of your home-one that we otherwise wouldn't be able to experience. It's amazing all the work that the previous owner put into the house-I didn't realize it was basically in ruins when he purchased it! Good on him for bringing it back to life so the legacy can continue.
your home is a DREAM!! LOVE your backyard! Congrats on your new home :)
I love these vlogs! It’s so fun to start a new garden. Tons of work but with every bit!! And the history of the house is fascinating. Priest hiding in the walls? You’re literally living with history. Just amazing!!
Josie. Please be careful, one of the photos has the name of the house and village. You should take the photo out for security purposes.
I totally agree

Josie, you can blur out the area of the name in the RUclips interface: I think you can still do it after the video has been published

Josie, what is the name of the song from 27:08, please ? I love the vibes of that song 🥰
Your new home is absolutely amazing. OMG I am constantly sitting with my mouth open. I LOVE that all the "old" details is not remodeled and that the stairs and all the woodwork are kept in WOOD. It is often seen that older houses with woodwork and stories behind them are painted white when today's people move into it. Your house is so AMAZING. I LOVE that there is a fireplace in the bedroom and in the bathroom too. And the stone around them are soooo wauuu, but imagine that you can experience it in your own home. I'm totally crazy and happy on your behalf, I'm crazy jealous LOL, and it's so amazing it hasn't been removed during renovations.
For every space you showcase, my mouth constantly says Wauuu and OMG such a house will also be my dream home. I am told that I should have been born in another year or century as I am in many respects a little old fashioned LOL. I am really looking forward to seeing all your future videos and how exciting to see and follow how all the rooms end up looking. XoXo
Oh wow, I got here when it had been uploaded for 19 seconds. Never had I been so early to anything before. Btw, love your house series’s.
Cath Vite nice work!!!
So beautiful and so full of splendor. The previous owner has worked wonders, the touches like the glass covered water well have been so sympathetically preserved whilst creating a beautiful usable home... a home clearly built from the heart, and now its journey continues to be filled with warmth. Be happy darling, as I'm sure you will be... Peonies are my favourite also.
Love this channel 💓
Watching these new house vlogs is like a real life fairytale and Josie is the princess who gets her own castle. It’s all so romantic ❤️
The circles on the stone of the fireplace are "flowers of life "or "circle flowers". It is holy geometry which connects "the big with the small".
The symbol is ancient and can be found all over the world.
It has also been used since its origns for protection not just of witches but evil spirits, harmful energies or ill intentions.
what about the face in the fireplace?
OMG...One of the most standout homes from UK big youtubers...A 14th century home..in a lane of your own

Hi Josie, I love your vlogs - thank you for sharing your life with us. I love your fashion and beauty vlogs and am really enjoying your new home content - stunning. FYI priest holes were build into the homes of wealthy catholics during the later part of the 16th century. After Henry VIII split from Rome and we became a Protestant country. During the reign of his daughter Elizabeth catholic’s were persecuted (lots of catholic plots to try and overthrow her) catholic’s could not practice their faith openly. Priest would come into the country illegally and preach in the homes of wealthy catholic’s. It was considered high treason to aid or harbour one. With priest catchers around - they had to be hidden or the priest and families were in serious trouble! Please keep doing what you’re doing - lovely - thank you.
You are the luckiest girl in the world. The dress is absolutely adorable. You have the best taste in clothes. Love your daily videos.
I'm loving the daily vlogs.
Please keep making these daily vlogs where you show us the house updates! I'm loving seeing it all come together and how you're adjusting to your new home! Thanks for taking us along this journey with you :)
BTW: Priest Holes were used at the Time King Henry VIII applied to the Pope (in France at the time) for the right to Divorce & was told "No" so he Started the Protestant Church of England! He sent soldiers to destroy all Catholic Churches & Abbies! Bc some wanted to continue to be Catholic, they hid their Priests in Priest Holes (usually found near the Fireplaces & about 150cm x 90cm or a bit larger) which often led to a secret passage thru the walls & tunneled under the ground to a place away from the House, to safety!
Keep these daily vlogs coming Josie! I’ve been loving seeing your plans for the new home and garden and watching it all come together! 🤍

It's GORGEOUS, Josie! I'm sure you two are going to do an absolute wonder with that house, decorating it in your signature, elegant style! Dreamy!
I am very interested in the financial part of buying a house. Of course the decision to share this information is completely yours , but for me as a person who is about to purchase her first home I am curious to know how much it cost you this gorgeous house or the deposit of it , roughly how much you need to maintained it, how much is costing to furnish it ect. I feel like my 20K won’t let me allow to go far :(
Come from family money, become an influencer, get with another influencer, get paid to advertise stuff online then maybe you too will be able to afford a £2 million home at 28!
It's obvious, its come from selling the house in clapham( that her mum bought ( josie claims she bought the clapham house with her mum, but I dont believe that, how can u buy a house at the age of 20)sadly her dad died when she was 13 so he proberly had a life insurance policy to pay out that brought cash in and savings) london homes are very expensive) . Shes then sold the clapham house to then put that money towards to cotswold house. I do believe josie does work hard but theres no way she would have been able to buy the cotswold house without selling the house in clapham. So having really wealthy parents helps!!
@@kittensrus1570 You're so right Neel. The Clapham house was purchased for £650k when she was 20. No 20 year old gets a mortgage of that value without parents help. It sold for just over £800k so that still leaves over a million quid left to pay on the Cotswold house. You can see from her earnings (Filings) listed at Companies House that she doesn't earn anywhere near enough, even with her bf contributing to get a bank to give you additional million plus mortgage so this can only be from family money. I imagine her Mum is probably living in part of that huge house. This is the downside of some Influencers, they post stuff like this to make out they are so successful and have so much without being honest about how they got it and some of their followers will watch this aspirational BS and feel rubbish about their own lives.
@@stevescottukss I did used to think josie was self made but I'm not keen on her anymore!! Your right theres no way a bank is going to give a 28 year old a million pound mortgage. How much does she earn a year. Her mums defo in on it x

These are my little peaces of Mommy time every day ❤️ It's totally taking a step to different world. Living in Finland, I love living in our flat, it's perfect for us. But taking a short trip every evening to amazing old house and all this vlog content really helps me keep my self together. Thank you so much on these ❤️ Yes I would watch if it was your fashion videos as well, as I have been for few years now. But these on a time like this is amazing, I even started my own mini herbgarden after looking few of these videos 💕
You have cables / wires in that little cupboard, do not put anything in there. Bad idea for the food and the cables.
It is very pretty house that looks so nice to live in.
I absolutely love Charlie, all his gadgets and him organising the kitchen...
Hi Josie - Lovely learning more about the history of the house. Houses have stories and most of the time are around much longer than us and 'see' so much. 'If only walls could talk'. I agree when you say that the previous owners have done a fantastic job of upgrading and modernising the house while still keeping all the authentic character and historical elements. Seeing how it was in the past is fascinating, and you can tell how much transformation has taken place. Do you have any favourite parts/features of the house yet? :-)
The house is such a dream! I actually saw this house listed for sale late last year when I was lusting over 'dream homes' in the Cotswolds (I'm always imaginary house hunting), and I'm so happy that you've been able to bring it back to life again after it has been empty! It really is gorgeous and I love how every room has its own bit of character. So happy for you both! xx
