the stage is one of the best progressive metal albums ever, IMO.
This album is my favorite album by them 100%. I love the band and all of their stuff, but this album was just so well structured. Especially Gates playing from his gypsy jazz roots.
Agreed. People say m. Shadows sounded “strained” in this but honestly, I think it even adds to some of the songs. Very good album and I had it tied work City of evil before LIBAD came out

Loved how guitar solo and drum combined.
Honestly i would say this album is worth a start to finish reaction. If not, maybe check out the sage, Higher, exist and probably Sunny disposition.

I absolutely love this song. It is so hard and peaceful at the same time, the song kinda feels to me like A7x + Pink Floyd + Joe Cocker
Roman sky is a balad but mfg the arrangements on that song are amazing aswell

Personally I can see/hear the conceptual side but not much progressive stuff. Imho.
Avenged sevenfold have gotten a lot of unneccessary hate, really talented musucians! I personally like all their albums except for their hail to the king album. But the stage was just a whole new side for them! Hope they continue with where they left of

Refreshing to see that there are still reactions to epic songs like this where the one who reacts doesn't keep pausing the video every 20 seconds to either start over-analyzing completely obvious parts in the lyrics or just to talk about riffs half a minute at least per pause.

Wow, avenged was my favourite band some years ago. They are still in my top 20 bands, but i don’t really listen as much to them anymore. But The Stage is a freaking masterpiece of an album! If you decide to do more from this album, you should check out paradigm, the stage, and exist man! For pure power, god damn is also a really cool song.
Yeah,ive matured musically,so i departed from some bands,but this album is still holding up to my repertoire
They are very talented, have loved them since the beginning. Most people dont realize they have some Prog to them. Us Prog lovers can pick it out though!

I am grateful that you listened through the entire song and then gave your examination. It drives me up the wall when other people stop songs mid slap to give their opinion on how the song is constructed.

One of my first metal bands,loved their work ,still when i hear some songs im excited,when The Stage came out...i was blown away....like really,its so weird seeing a band in their maybe mid part of career without even their signature drummer,making their best album....its just a masterpiece, underrated album because it stands under the name Avenged sevenfold,people dont give it a try especially prog fans,its just a masterpiece,brooks what a drummer and synester, they make this a great album,its such an evolution,idk how will they top this ,i dont think they can, Nightmare and Their 2nd and third album maybe come close,they always had some prog elements and prog doesn't always mean good,but this time its real prog,meaning a band being progressive,not only crazy solos and low tunnings
People complain that a7x isn’t the same as they used to be but they’ve said constantly that not one album is like the other. They’re always changing up how they write music. Kinda like queen. They don’t stick to one style

You're a prog-head so I guess you're familiar with Haken. However, if you're not, I highly recommend them.
I don't really know where to begin since I've discovered them just recently.
