My dad listened to roots reggae dub lovers rock etc and I listen to dancehall bashment and ragga jungle. Hip hop never featured until I heard NWA and the breakaway artists from that unit kept that vibe alive. Then came Eminem 50 cent and few others. Any hip hop since then are just cheap imitations and poorly developed new ideas within the genre. The aspect of race was never a feature. We never listened to these genres because they were black it was more what it represented in lyrical content and track design. When I listen to black artists talk about this music as black music it’s offensive to me. It was never something to consider before recent years. Dre breaks those barriers he took hip hop to levels like never before. He should be the model for all that comes next in the hip hop world.

I am from flint Michigan, I am same age as em, and never would have listened to him eary on if not him getting canceled by government, and since they made me listen to find out why he was canceled, his music has helped save my life.
The whole thing is no color can change the life you live. I’m Italian and Irish and I went to a school that was 90 percent African American, my parents were on welfare, my mom was a addict, my neighborhood had a mix of white, black, Spanish, and we had a neighbor that was gay. We lived in the inner city and it was really awesome. I was blessed to not see the color of someone’s skin and everyone helped each other with anything. The day my mother died of an overdose it was our neighbors who were right there to help us with anything we needed. I’m so thankful for the love and support from my childhood and I am so thankful that my mom always warned me about the dangers of taking drugs and I believe she saved me. I don’t see the color of my fellow human beings and I listened to early rappers like LL cool J and run Dmc in the 80s and I still have the same friends that I grew up with. The struggle was real but we all made it through it together
Having Hailie sitting in the audience watch him get inducted into the Hall of Fame feels like coming full circle, a happy ending. After all the struggles he went through for the sake of his baby girl, Marshall is finally clean and recognised as one of the greats. Eminem's story truly inspires me to pull myself from the jaws of defeat every single time (and as a writer, to stay true to my craft and constantly get better at it). What a time to be alive in the same era as this modern-day Shakespeare!
