I was doing deliveries on high street in Auckland and i saw him riding an E scooter. I waved at him as he was stopping and we had a yarn about the game vs the Abs on the weekend which the Irish won. Very nice guy from that brief convo i had with him, but an absolute menace on the pitch

Not accurate. POM was a year behind me in secondary school (high school) and is the greatest gentleman you will ever meet. We still text every so often.
He is not a thug/brute/violent player. He is one of the greates and most versatile forwards to ever play the game. This video shows his passion, but does not reflect his skill, intelligence and his rebirth over the last 3 years for Munster, Ireland and The Lions.
He, along with Zebo (his very, very good friend) were always tipped to be among the best Ireland and I could not be prouder of both of them as guys I had the privilege of growing up alongside.
Would be great if we could compile a video of all his jackal steals, lineout excellence, scrummaging and even covering the wings! I'm proud to exist in the same hemisphere as this man, let alone know him.
Thank goodness he has the gardening to balance out the rest of life lol. Legend.

Met him years ago (didn't recognise him) and he seemed very shy lol. I'm not as tall as him, but i couldn't believe when i later found out he was a well known Rugby forward, as I'm much more physically built than him in terms of muscle. I'd fancy myself vs him lol. I think he’s actually better when not getting involved. He’s not exactly an enforcer or a man to be feared on the pitch in terms of physicality. He’s a cracking rugby player who is better when focusing on that.

I was never ever told that part of your role as a flanker is to go in for the handbags stuff. You standup up for yourself and try to impose yourself on the opposition, regardless of position. That’s a given. My point is, POM isn’t an enforcer, he’s not what you’d call a dirty player or even a massively physical player ( at the top end level )
