Its a miracle that 13 of them lived that long since infant and child mortality was so common back then. And its also a miracle that queen charlotte survived all thoes births.
I wonder if it was true that King George helped assist in those births and if they were that hand ons as parents. I would guess it helped not spread diseases. I believe they also inoculated their children against small pox
It’s ironic how the “legitimate” children they had with their cousins died, while the “bastards” they had outside of the supposed “pure” family bloodline survived.
Too bad they didn't understand about how bad it is to marry your cousin, maybe fewer dead babies? To have all those kids, and watch them die before you one by one, how sad.
@livingincaptivityIII Leopold had haemophilia, Alice and Beatrice were carriers and through them it passed to the Russian and Spanish royal families. I'm not sure if any of them have been proved to have links with porphyria
@pedanticradiator1491 Too many, and doctors to this day would rather diagnose a patient with anything but Porphyria, because too few doctors have studied it or want to bother.
They all had very incidental lives and only a few of them had any sense of responsibility. But at least they had done what was important and made sure the lineage continued. If only they were more dutiful. (God Save The King!)
Not to mention that Queen Charlotte was not and has never been black. I hate it when people blackwash historical figures. Can you imagine the outrage if Mandela was played by a white actor.
Bridgerton (which the Queen Charlotte series is a prequel too) is fictional history. Its based off of YA romance books and the tv series labels themselves as alternative history where slavery was abolished and people of color were given noble titles and married into the Royal family. It was never meant to be historically accurate and has never claimed to be.
Their closest blood relation was 2nd cousin, once removed (Philip being from the elder generation), via Christian IX of Denmark and his wife, Louise of Hesse-Kassel.
Hi. You can check out their degree of relation in this family I tree connecting all the Kings and Queens together: QUEEN ELIZABETH's INBRED FAMILY TREE: ruclips.net/video/T1-oG20pf34/видео.html
In the British Royal Family they were 3rd cousins from both being great great grandchildren of Victoria and Albert but in the Danish Royal family they were 2nd cousins once removed. Elizabeth was a great great granddaughter of Christian IX of Denmark whilst Philip was a great grandson
@Sifirela they were not that distantly related. The removed bit is not a theory but how many generations there are between cousins. For example your 1st cousin is someone with whom you share a grandparent if he or she has a child than that child is your 1st cousin once removed.
There were lots of Royals who were quite likely gay. Of course, this was hidden back then, but historians are pretty "clear" about it, and some paid with their lives.
You do realize, Bridgerton and queen Charotte is based on fiction right? You really need some "history"lessons if not! While “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story” gets some historical facts right, the series makes no promise of historical accuracy. In fact, the opening credits of the show sets the record straight, saying, “It is not a history lesson. It is fiction inspired by fact.
A black Queen and King with fictional names (and a different breed of dog) would have been fine. No controversy, no complaints. As the members of the House of Hanover are not characters in Julia Quinn's book series, Shonda Rimes clearly added them just to stir up trouble for an audience.
@@Satu-zs7gm Lol are you serious? Bad take and lazy example, the show was made in Europe about a European kingdom, so why evoke the American, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.? I looked it up and Queen Charlotte really is a real person for the show and she really is black so why is the royal current family having a problem with Meghan Markle being mixed race since that’s exactly what Queen Charlotte was
Queen Chatlotte's so called black ancestry was from 300 years before she was born and with all the intermarrying that took place within the European royalty and nobility any African DNA would be pretty diluted by her lifetime

Yeah and I remember reading king George fretted about the cost of dressing so many royal daughters.
@@eburel506 yeah. Back then re wearing an outfit was a big no no in the upper class.
And iirc the only reason Octavius and Alfred died young is because they had bad reactions to their smallpox inoculations.

Not being inbreed is a such an unfair advantage for those 'bastards'

Victoria married her 1st cousin and all their 9 children survived into adulthood although 3 of them died before she did
Thank the good lord, William and Harry had the good sense to marry commoners.

Actually, Charlotte was against George IV's marrying Caroline of Brunswick!
Please, please, please do family tree charts of American presidents. I think you will find they are all related. Worth looking into.

But it’s not a biography?? Just fictional storylines based off real people. I’d understand being upset if it was a biography that’s wrong asf
She the grandmother of Queen Victoria, thur her 3 son Prince Edward Duke Kent and Stratton,
Duke OF Kent and Strathearn and he was her 4th son not 3rd
That thumbnail🤷🏼♀️.
Boy, that’s one big family 😆
So how were Prince Phillip and Queen Elizabeth related? What degree of cousin?
Their closest blood relation was 2nd cousin, once removed (Philip being from the elder generation), via Christian IX of Denmark and his wife, Louise of Hesse-Kassel.
Probably fourth or fifth? I'm not sure. Don't understand the twice removed theory.
