What makes it more sad is that Ramirez is one of the few i have seen here that really uses Karate style 95%!!
Facts
probably because karate sucks.

I was rooting for Ericsson to win, but he lost all three rounds fair and square. Ramirez clearly won the fight, it was not even close. Yes Ericcson has good spinning kicks and flashy moves but you know when it came to actual fight he did zilch. The kicking bags don't kick back and don't block but Ramirez showed that he was a superior fighter.
The judges should be fired, this was the worst robbery in a martial art fight I have ever seen.
Did you read the set of rules in Karate Combat? I thought the same as you did before I red the rules, but now I understand why they gave Samuel the win.
@@eriklarsson1290 if he lost based on the rule set then the rule set sucks. Just from the perception of anyone who is into combat sports it looked like Ramirez was clearly the better fighter (even Bas was surprised at the result)
@@shinoobie1549 Sure, but then complain about the rule set and not the fighters.
He telegraphed alot
@@shinoobie1549 I agree with Erik. If you're going to bitch about anything related to this fight, then bitch about the rule set. I read them too and they're very similar to how Yokkao judges Muay Thai.
Straight from their website in the Judges Scoring section: " Effective Aggressiveness, Number of Effective Kicking Techniques, Effective Striking, Dominance, Damage and Control - in that order."
Nowhere does it say that the Judges score base on techniques. The rules may be that the stances and the techniques HAVE to be influenced on Karate, but the SCORING has nothing to do with that.
Was the outcome of this fight determined by the number of followers you have on social media?
They commented yesterday amd said the judges are independent of Karate Combat
Pretty much lol
Yup
Rewatch the fight ma'am. Enlighten us to the amount of strikes Ramirez landed; 2.. Better yet watch it without the commentators. The scoring system is complete sht if you weebs believe Ramirez deserved the win. If by doing nothing the entire fight, and hugging the opponent that's punishing you, should result in a win you're mentally handicapped. They weren't take downs (not even half) they fell down while attempting to grapple. Simply because Ramirez landed on top, doesn't make it a "tAkE dOwN) or that he won. Erickson received a well deserved win. I'm blown away that you kids are that impressionable by the commentators.
Legit, this guy flashes his spinning kicks all on insta but can barley do anything in a real fight.
GSP said Ramirez spent the last of his money to get a plane ticket to come to the US to fight Ericsson. The man risked EVERYTHING to come to Karate Combat only to get robbed my some corny instagram star. Absolutely shameful
True, who is riggin' these Kombat fights. This is 10th time I've seen something like this. Some Commie from the East.
what was the payout for both fighters?
@@sebastianloya96 they don't disclose that to the public
Go cry somewhere else
Corny ? The man literally fought him wit everything lol wtf u mean
Let’s get a rematch, for the redemption of both fighters. Ericsson might have hit harder but Ramirez hit more and showed more aggression, something we are told should be rewarded by the judges. Second time around they’ll both have improved and have less nerves.
I agree. On my second watch I am noticing the flurry of strikes from Ramirez but not a lot connected. All he really had was the takedowns. When Ericsson connected there was more power there, and the low kick in the 3rd round did visible damage to Ramirez. A rematch will definitely settle the score.
I disagree entirely and the controversy mainly exists because people do not understand the rules of KC. The scoring criteria is what got Ericcson the win. Straight from the KC website in the *Judges Scoring section* : "KARATE COMBAT bouts will be evaluated by three judges using the 10-Point-Must system. The judges will evaluate the relative merits of each fighter’s performance according to the following *prioritized criteria* ; Effective Aggressiveness, Number of Effective Kicking Techniques, Effective Striking, Dominance, Damage and Control - in that order.
So Ramirez showed more aggression, but flunked on other things. The scoring wasn't way off and it probably came down to a few well executed strikes. Unlike in Muay Thai, It also seems that take downs don't score you extra points unless you do it in the manner which the scoring criteria lists. In Muay Thai a take down is scored if you do it with a legal technique as you cannot strike your opponent on the ground, in KC it seems that it's the opposite that scores you the point.
@@Eshayzbra96 If your analysis regarding takedowns and how they are scored holds true, you absolutely have a point.
@@ulfhazelcreek8108 I dare say it does otherwise ground pounding wouldn't be included in the rules. Because in Muay Thai you could absolutely do some ground pounding techniques but because you're already scored from the take down alone and fighting from the ground isn't taught in Muay Thai, unlike Karate Combat, it seems that you must apply the listed scoring criteria WITH the take down in order to actually score from it (as the grounded fighter can fight back and still be scored). However it isn't stated so on their website, this is speculative based on what I can see and what is listed on their rules page.
@@Eshayzbra96 didn't Ramirez like dominate him basically
Just look at Ericsson’s reaction at the decision. He knows he lost the fight.
But he cannot even admit it, it was not his decision but he has to brave the hate.
@@BigBossBernie I'm not entirely sure of your meaning behind your comment, but if you think he should admit it then read the following: If he came straight out and said "no i didn't win this fight" not only would he put an even more controversial shadow over KC, but KC will find every reason not to have him fight there again simply because of the bad image he would had posed onto them. KC is first and foremost a business, and the fighters are the employees. The business would literally fire its best employees just to spite them if they put a bad image.
You would be practically asking Ericcson to destroy his future with KC over a decision that was not in his control.
@@Eshayzbra96 if only people would understand, people tend to forgot their aren''t playing a game it's their freaking job on the line
😂😂😂😂
He know !
Even though I like Ericsson he definetly lost the match. Seriously, few mma fights have that much takedown rate. Ramirez obviously won that. Seems like the score cards are determined by the number of social media followers.
Yeah, I'm sure it was political
@@Productions368 hundred percent
Been saying Ericsson sucks, all he does is flash kicks for Instagram
That was not fair and everyone, including Ericsson, knows it.
That was completely fair and Ramierez knew it.
@@johnreidy2804 lol see yourself out
@@baqikenny It depends on how you score the fight.
@@johnreidy2804 Ramirez basically won that. Tbh, the scoring should be like a street fight. Whoever is knockout out or gives up/unable to continue, loses
for those of us coming from the MMA world - here is the Karate Combat judging criteria:
Judges will evaluate fighters by the following PRIORITIZED criteria:
1. Effective Aggressiveness
2. Number of Effective Kicking Techniques
3. Effective Striking
4. Dominance
5. Damage
6. Control
Takedowns weren't even a factor. IMO damage should be 1 and there is too much priority on "effective aggressiveness".
This is a different style of fight that addresses the criticisms from casual MMA fans. The judging criteria for KC definitely encourages more flashy techniques and prevents slow, boring matches. I still prefer MMA but this is definitely interesting and is easier for newcomers to become interested in fighting.
bruh, the commentators literally said takedowns score a bunch of points and if they truly don't, more so why the rules god damn sucks. its better than MMA sure, but it needs to be scored better, Ramirez takes this one. its not close, its a domination. In the rematch Ramirez will probably KO Ericsson. Ramirez won this fight.
idk...... he got a lot of shots in and takedowns but his punches looked like pillows hitting ericssons face
Come on guys, tighten up your judgement game, or is it a popularity contest?
I am so sorry to see Ramirez's frustration in the end. This is the second time I see him lose. His first match he clearly lost, but he seemed to have worked very hard (he looks super-riped now), he really fought very well this time, and gave it all and still lost... . I think the judges totally screwed this one up.
Ericsson lost this one
And till this day I'm still surprised how Ericsson won
He is only good at working out , he has no sparring partners. Just. A RUclips fighter
TILL THIS DAY
This fight was a robbery for Ramirez. He initiated most of the attacks and made most of the takedowns of the fight. Shame on you KC judges. Ramírez deserved to win this fight. Even Ericsson looked surprised when they announced the winner.
Ericsson is still on Instagram writing paragraphs thinking he won. High level martial artists with honor don't keep making excuses for winning robberies as well as mocking fanbase who criticize them
Wow really? He needs to get what's coming to him in that case
@@bruceleroy98 another win?
I'm honestly about to unsubscribe from Karate Combat. It's one thing to absolutely rob someone of a W, (seemingly solely based on one individual having a larger social media following) - it's another to keep regurgitating this fixed B.S. to the fans. Shame on the judges and Karate Combat, for having zero accountability, and for having the gull to post this atrocity again.
i will watch any fight with Ramirez in it. no matter what the decision of the judges was by the end of the fight, we know Ramirez won. What a joke of a decision… this is why this will never make it to prime time like ufc… nonsense fake judges
No idea what right they were watching
He controlled the reach? What, he controlled the match and you couldn’t do much…
When you constantly swing and miss then get taken down where I come from you are losing points not gaining any

the only problem is the decision by the end. this is one of the best Karate Combat fights ever. definitely will root for Ramirez moving forward
I really like this and enjoy it as much as other major promotions....If I see more losers getting their hands raised, I'll be unsubscribing. THIS DECISION NEEDS TO BE REVERSED
Facts
Like I said watching live, you have lost a fan due to this fight..so rigged!!
Brother, this isn't Ericsson's fault. The judges made the mistake. Ericsson will probably lose sleep over it but can't admit he lost cause that would put a bad image on KC and hence the loss of his job
It’s not rigged, nor was it Ericsson’s fault. It was flawed judging.
This was my first time ever seeing this type of fighting, video. I am a UFC watcher but I will never watch this bull.... again. Alberto Ramirez won that fight. What the hell!! This turn me off already. I'm going back to UFC
The heist of the century.
Ramirez is actually really using Karate 🔥
That's why he lost. Karate is for cucks

Eric wins but highlights shows him getting his a$$ beat 🤣🤣🤣 bs
Sorry this comment might be late but there was a lot of clinching: technical fouls in order to make a legal move to do take downs.
Effective Aggressiveness, Number of Effective Kicking Techniques, Effective Striking, Dominance, Damage and Control - in that order.
Ramirez had 3 out of 6. This sport revolves more around striking and apparently kicking techniques. Negative comments are probably all UFC fans which you all have been conditioned to.
“Social media pressure” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
First time seeing Karate Combat and probably the last one!
kinda funny how he was super emotional post fight interview and the comments here dont give 0 fcks 🤣
Disgusting decision!!! Judges should be stripped of their license! Ramirez won this fight 100% no questions asked! 🤦🏽
I legit feel like they gave it to Samuel because of Alberto's reaction to the leg kick in the third round. Alberto seems to quit for a second and has to be reminded to keep fighting by the ref, judges probably saw this as a near TKO as gave it to Ericsson for seemingly coming closer to finishing the fight. Not the most fair decision by my count but if they were looking for a reason to give it to Ericsson that probably sealed it.
Even ericcson was confused/ surprised! 😂😂
Never seen such a once sided fight end in robbery like this one. KC seemed like the epitome of Martial Arts philosophy but then this was a huge blemish on that imo.
I dont understand how the judges even remotely came to this conclusion.
Instagram followers
Karate is all about striking, while others martial arts concern more with grapling. While Ramirez had takedowns, they all were a result of grapling, instead of striking.
I have to say it mi pana Ramirez has a incredible shotokan style karate
Takedowns at 2:26 3:45 6:24 11:08 11:45
Ramirez = real fighter / Ericsson = freestyle
Unsubbed this aint real karate more like clout combat how did Ramirez not win
There were nothing about karate in Ericssons style
Ramirez's did. And to me, Ramirez will always be the better fighter. Tbh I feel like Ramirez does Kyokushin instead of Shotokan, the hardness of the style gives it away.
@@saileshnaidu8102 no he is pure shotokan
some ppl are saying Ericsson won the third round. 2 brilliant takedowns in 3rd round from Ramirez. perfect ones and landed multiple pounding punches, many of them. 3/3 rounds for Ramirez
Even refree looks shocked
Judges gave the edge to ericsson cuz he controlled the ring and the pace of the fight but Ramirez was landing more and scored 100% on each takedown attempt. This shouldve been a draw at the least but i also think ramirez shouldve taken the split win
That was bs , take down plus punches to the ground, Eric knew he lost .
If that guy were a bag, Samuel would've kicked its ass
Gano Ramírez
You have to admit that Ericsson has made progress on his stamina
Huge mistake with judging, maybe are maybe him a star here so he can promote Karate Combat on his Instagram. Maybe they sold themselves. This is not a good spirit.
First Karate Combat fight I've ever seen and it's a blatant robbery.

aight imma head out
Probably the last time I will watch this format. Ramirez took down Ericsson cleanly in every round.
Ericsson wins because Ramirez stops the fight, which he could not, after he gets injured. Immediatly the ref let the match continues. Samuel shows respect and stop fighting but he can also choose to finish Samirez
He knows that they gave him the win that he really lost the winner was Ramirez
Ericsson had every opportunity to chop Ramirez's leg down for a guaranteed TKO!
I definitely think this fight should have the execs re-working the scoring criteria. It wasn't a bad showing from either fighter, but this fight definitely had a clear winner.
He was robed he looked 👀 bad ASF...
They want some one like this to be popular and attract people all because of social media.

I think, If ramirez can make KO/TKO he will win this fight. But, I see Ericson very tyred because of Ramirez takedown.

I wonder if Ramirez showing he was hurt for a moment swayed the judges' opinions in any way.
