I am from Puerto Rico until the late eighties the long road in to the castle used to have a line of trees on both side..

Should have gone to Culebra Island. The beaches are clean with white sand. No algas.
Pyrodinium bahamensis is a dinoflagelate, a one celled microorganism that makes up the plankton which is essential to small fish and
Coral reefs.
In the Island of Vieques there is the worlds brightest fluorescent lagoon named Mosquito Bay due to the largest in the world concentration of dinoflagellates per cc of sea water.

Flamenco beach in Culebra Island is considered 3rd most beautiful in the world.

Waves do affect the fort because it’s salt water pr has been having a problem with salt water dissolving buildings on its edges. I don’t think that’s why the rocks are there though

Playa Papaya in Isla Verde. It’s an excellent breakfast/lunch place.

Playa sucia means dirty beach. That's why it was dirty.

its real name is Playuela, and its the most beautiful beach in the big island of PR. The algae is something seasonal that happens some years.
