I grew up in that area almost 45 years ago There used to be a beach called Wayside park next door but I looked on google maps and it's totally different there now. The pier was free back then. There were always a bunch of guys that acted like they owned the pier. There was a hammerhead shark that would swim around the pier named Herbie ,they say it was 18 feet long. This video brought me home for a few mins. Thanks.
What a day! Tarpon in the morning, Blue Angel's jets screaming "FREEDOM!" at the top of their lungs! Ain't Fla wonderful! Good video, Good Job... 👍USA👍USA👍USA👍
I managed that restaurant on the Okaloosa Island Pier for about 9 years. Those fishermen are like family ( I know your buddy's dad, I put his picture of him and his grandson on the wall in the bar). Everyday those guys would come in with their fresh catch to share with my staff and I would cook it up free of charge!
Jack, your right. Nothing like living on the Emerald Coast of NWF if your an outdoors man. Vacationed here all my life and moved here three years ago. Museum is awesome to see.
Blue Angels are so much more than everyone realizes. All of our troops are top notch. it's what makes us special... Education, no. Lifestyle no, disease control no... armed services... no one comes close. men and women preserving what we are. America.
I have too but it’s been many years now but that place hasn’t changed a bit!!! Even the guy with the cigarette at the cash register in the bait shack, that place looks just like it did back in 1988. Damn time flies!!! I spent a lot of evenings and nights on that pier, this was a video down memory lane
Great Video. I was on the Navarre pier the same day watching the Tarpon. Crazy how big some of the schools were. Hitting the Museum today before family leaves.
Last time we went there were 4 king mackerels caught all 3 feet long and huge Spanish I caught one about 2 feet long man im always stoked to go pier fishing for mackerel you never know what your gonna catch good luck on all your next fishing trips everyone👍👍👍
What was that guy pumpin the rod like that for😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I've never had to do that to set the hook on a tarpon before. They aren't tuna. Anyway awesome video. Loved the cooler hack video too👍👍👍
Well yak there's one thing for certain, there's dam sure never a dull moment in any of your vidieos. You sure are keeping us watching in east milton! Thanks for the entertainment.
Love going to the Naval Aviation Museum. And the FREE airshow by the Blue Angels is cool. Get much closer to the crowd than at any regular airshow they perform. Thanks for the footage.
I’ve been thinking about doing a little pier fishing down here in Texas, I will say it adds a certain a Luehr changing up your environment from time to time. Rockin the beavers, keep up the great work sir!
I met the 62 year old in the green shirt today. He had me hold his pole that had a huge fish on it that wasn't budging so that he could cast his other rod into a school of Tarpon lol
Great video Yak. I am totally addicted to your videos. This pier fishing one is insane! We have the Tybee Island Pier close to where I live but I don't think it's a good tarpon area. Lots more of sharks, whiting, trout, and redfish I think. Us Georgians are limited to what we can catch in specie vs. what y'all can catch a mile or two offshore in Florida. Tarpon is on my Top 5 fish to catch. Keep the videos coming and say hello to Samantha! Be good, Be safe my friend!!!
To bad, that pier looked somewhat crowded, Brant should run his boat there, beats ducking rods any day. That old geezer is still out there on the flight line, that's rather amazing because he's been there at every free show I've been to at PNAS since the early 90's. The museum is one of those places that any visit back home is never missed, so glad you showed it to the people.
Well another great video. We need to start making a list of things you show us to do when we move down. Ok here is maybe a dumb question from an inlander, is that a word?. After you hook a big fish from a pier and you wear it down, how do you land the thing? Do you bring it up on the beach? that seems like the only logical way but how would you get past all the other fishermen?
Nice pier, but a lot of people. Bet you wouldn’t have to look hard and find an old fantom in the museum. Used to love to watch them take off for missions!
Good stuff.i was down there last week from illinois.and thanks to your info.igot to watch them practice from Fort pickens...good stuff.best channel on you tube
Jack, Tell us how to keep from getting live pin fish bait from being chomped in half by blues or small sharks. You know, they bite around the hook, one cast after another.
Awesome video as usual! We we camped down there in May for 21 days! Loved it and hit a lot of cool places you've mentioned in your videos! We did the free Airshow too and it was great! The museum is awesome too! Was gonna holla at you but didn't want to bother you. Lol. Keep up the vids and we'll be moved down there!
Florida Tarpon tag required to keep a tarpon. Catch is that you can only keep a tarpon that could break state or world record. Also illegal to remove a tarpon over 40 in from the water. they could walk it to the beach and remove the hook I they wanted.
The damn blue angels canceled practice last Wednesday before the fourth so we didn’t get to see them. I was hoping to run into you somewhere but we didn’t. The fireworks were pretty good close to the stadium and nicks.
My son & I got to fish off this pier last summer (2018) & fished off the pier for the first time. We didnt catch anything except a sun burn. Had a great time!!
The beavers are unique... .. I'm looking at the water not the specticals....I'm 72,, it's corona time and I"m drinking Crown Royal and fishing the beach... aint nothing but a thang. Young man will make him jump.....Yep, that's a tag. Nice work young man.

_This place is amazing, congratulations, good fishing._ *_Hug!!!_* 👍🎣🐟🐠 😉
Frank D people use staals out there because of their toughness, and durability, other reels will wear out and blow up, but staals aren’t indestructible I’ve seen many handles broken off and side plates pull off, I have broken 3 myself. And yes definitely combat fishing out there!
It depends on the time of the year. If you're looking for tarpon on this run, it's going to be crowded. I was just there this weekend and it wasn't bad. Caught several keeper sized Spanish mackerel.
No offense to Yak but the Blue Angels don’t need a marketing agent Chris. Tell one person in town that the Blue Angels or the Thunderbirds are gonna be in town in a few weeks and everyone in Town will know about it by sundown!!
PS How in the World do you get those 50lb+ Monsters up and onto the pier!?!?!?!? Do you somehow rig a gaff line/grappling hook or do you try to tow them to the beach for recovery!?!?!?!?! Amateur pier fisher wants to know!!!
Ok, is a tarpon an imaginary fish? I have yet to see you land one and you talk about them like they're the "holy grail" of fish! What's up with that Jack??? The blue angel segment is always cool because it's 'merica baby! Note: just saw you land one on the 1000$ bet video with brent. Sorry lol
Me and my friend went all the way down to that pier from Huntsville Alabama in January and was hoping to catch something but we didn’t catch anything because we didn’t know anything about saltwater fishing at that time
Swift Fishin hey I’m from Oneonta Alabama and I’m going to the pier tomorrow so good luck for me 🤞🏻 btwdont worry you will catch comthin oneday im a pro fisherman and im only elevn Good luck next time

Glad you guys had fun. Never was one for fishing a crowded pier or Tarpon. If it can't go on the table I don't try and put them on the boards.

Awesome!
just curious man what was your favorite seasonings to put on the fish?

Caught a lot of big fish when I was stationed at hurlbert fld afb in the eighties loved it
Well yak there's one thing for certain, there's dam sure never a dull moment in any of your vidieos. You sure are keeping us watching in east milton! Thanks for the entertainment.
Thanks James!
Excellent as always
I love the fact that solo 6 is painted upside down on his tail because he spends most of his show inverted.
Love going to the Naval Aviation Museum. And the FREE airshow by the Blue Angels is cool. Get much closer to the crowd than at any regular airshow they perform. Thanks for the footage.
Thanks for watching!
I'm over here in Foley/Daphne area, and I saw some of the planes flying in yesterday. Thinking about going through Pensacola on my way home Saturday.
We love that museum!
Looks like great fun!! BTW, Brant should be crowned Prince of the Pier!!!
What's up with no bottom fishing?
I’ve been thinking about doing a little pier fishing down here in Texas, I will say it adds a certain a Luehr changing up your environment from time to time. Rockin the beavers, keep up the great work sir!
so crowded... too many people on this planet
I met the 62 year old in the green shirt today. He had me hold his pole that had a huge fish on it that wasn't budging so that he could cast his other rod into a school of Tarpon lol
I love the way you talk about our pier appreciate it brother
How are you supposed to land them on a pier? Or do you just let the line go slack and hope it gets off once the fight is done?
They cut the line once the tarpon breaches the waterline
In south australia there is usually stairs on the jetty where theg drag big fish up
Personally I just hold them straight up to the pier!
@@StanleyOrchard yeah for smaller fish. No one is hoisting a 70+ lb tarpon up 30 ft
@@Clintsjustcurious that's so ridiculous that people fish em and just leave the line and hook in the mouth.
you guys should go to opal beach it’s a blast out there you can hook up on some nice reds and if you take out the boat you can hunt them down
Great video Yak. I am totally addicted to your videos. This pier fishing one is insane! We have the Tybee Island Pier close to where I live but I don't think it's a good tarpon area. Nice pier, but a lot of people. Bet you wouldn’t have to look hard and find an old fantom in the museum. Used to love to watch them take off for missions!

That was cool but sure is a lot of hooks flying around..👍😉
You guys are a true Motley crew.
Crazy! I was there that day! I didn't get to see you thought. Would've love to meet you man! We managed to reel in a +12 ft tiger.
Nice job but I would go crazy fishing that close to other people.
Jack, Tell us how to keep from getting live pin fish bait from being chomped in half by blues or small sharks. You know, they bite around the hook, one cast after another.

I have a question how the hell do they get a huge tarpon up on the pier? A huge drop net?
Bryan Plott yes actually it’s like a basket that you lower and then pull it back up
They break them off.
It's illegal to pull them up. They cut the line
Florida Tarpon tag required to keep a tarpon. Catch is that you can only keep a tarpon that could break state or world record. Also illegal to remove a tarpon over 40 in from the water. they could walk it to the beach and remove the hook I they wanted.
as the military engineers say, " Lay Hold, HEAVE!" Pull it up, boys and girls....
The damn blue angels canceled practice last Wednesday before the fourth so we didn’t get to see them. I was hoping to run into you somewhere but we didn’t. The fireworks were pretty good close to the stadium and nicks.
All see is Van Staal reels everywhere !!!
What day was that show? Family and I were at Perdido Key July 4th week. Love the Naval Museum. Love all of your videos.

My son & I got to fish off this pier last summer (2018) & fished off the pier for the first time. We didnt catch anything except a sun burn. Had a great time!!

Great stuff trying to go see practice on Pcola beAch Thursday morning
I was there 3 weeks ago and it was spotty but still 6-7 caught in the morning.

How many people snag their buddies or bystanders on that pier?
Combat fishing at its finest! Love it! So many staals! Why??
Frank D people use staals out there because of their toughness, and durability, other reels will wear out and blow up, but staals aren’t indestructible I’ve seen many handles broken off and side plates pull off, I have broken 3 myself. And yes definitely combat fishing out there!
How do they get fish that big up onto that pier?
Awesome channel my friend! Congrats on your success! BIG LIKE from me! Blessings to you! :)
AWESOME!!!!!!! Thanks Jack. I FEEL THE NEED 4 SPEED## GO NAVY. 🇺🇸✌👍👍👀🍻🇺🇸
Thanks for watching Jeff!
I’m going here soon. Was looking forward to fishing the pier but that’s too crowded for me
It depends on the time of the year. If you're looking for tarpon on this run, it's going to be crowded. I was just there this weekend and it wasn't bad. Caught several keeper sized Spanish mackerel.
The okaloosa pier is the best
Bro I just went this last week and we seen tarpon over 250 pounds it was wild
How do you even unhook the fish from a pier????
I know it is fun catching a TARPON what is the purpose when you can't keep the fish, Keep up the good work!
Photo ops
All The cool kids do the underhand cast
Here rn.
Looks like it would be fun as an observer. Don't think I have the people skills to fish off a pier like that.
Pier fishing isn’t for me. That is chaos!
i went there last week and caught my first grouper
What pier is this
@@marquiseberry82 it is on oakaloosa island in florida, don’t remember we’re exactly but
A school of 4" paddle tails vs a school tarpon. The tarpon don't stand a chance.
The Navy needs to hire you as a marketing agent for Blue Angels!
HAHA! Thanks for watching !

Awesome fishing and air show. Too bad video just doesn’t do an air show justice. Nothing like smelling the jet fuel and seeing and feeling the noise!
PS How in the World do you get those 50lb+ Monsters up and onto the pier!?!?!?!?
Do you somehow rig a gaff line/grappling hook or do you try to tow them to the beach for recovery!?!?!?!?! Amateur pier fisher wants to know!!!
They break them off. You are not allow to put them on the pier.
how do they unhook the fish lol just curious
Ryan Shrout hold the spool and break the line, hook will fall out after the fight or in a day or two
Do you have schools of ballyhoo that come that far north?
I was there seen y’all but didn’t say anything and went 0-2 that morning and 0-7 on year 🤣😭
You should have said hello!
I fished there this yea
How the heck do you release something that big on the pier?
redtwin1968 torpedo drop it
Just cut your line
4:40 who's that Tom Brady
You should have taken out the racing kayak and went after them silver monsters...
Better get a ring on that finger! She like 🍷 getting better with age!
looks a lot like Pensacola pier
I'm moving to the area soon I can't wait to hook me one of those
Ok, is a tarpon an imaginary fish? I have yet to see you land one and you talk about them like they're the "holy grail" of fish! What's up with that Jack??? The blue angel segment is always cool because it's 'merica baby! Note: just saw you land one on the 1000$ bet video with brent. Sorry lol
