This is hip hop heavy which is why the lyrics are so good (and they get faster so turn on captions). It's definitely a cool way to see Alexander Hamilton. Leslie Odom Jr. Plays Aaron Burr (Hamilton's main rival during the show and this is the guy you called "dope"). There are even people who play double roles! It's crazy good. The full 2.5 hours is about his life.
Just wanted to point out that Lin read the biography by Chernow during his honeymoon. It actually took him years to write the whole show. (He admits it took him a year to write "My Shot" because he kept tweaking it.)

Hamilton is a musical which requires more people to be on stage at a time to produce the strong ensemble vocal performance behind a soloist, which gives us a lot of great harmonies to listen to. They are also needed for the dance numbers that musicals have. Plays don’t require either of those things since it’s all or mostly all spoken.
There is nothing I live more than watching people with no real foreknowledge of Hamilton react to the full performance. I can never see it again for the first time so I get to relive those first impressions. Please do the full show!
Dude.... please get Disney+ if you don't already have it and react to the entire musical. It is a fucking masterpiece in every way. No exaggeration. If you’re gonna watch the whole thing, I would recommend that you just briefly familiarize yourself with the key players. It’s a fantastic hip hop musical, but also moves quickly at times and it can be easy to lose the story if you don’t know who the primary characters are.
In answer to your question at the end, it is about his life from the time he is 19 and gets to NY from Charlestown on the island of Nevis in the British West Indies and continues up until his death. The final song wraps it up by explaining what impacts to the country and to history his and his wife's contributions made.

My favourite bit is the whole 'we fought with him' bit because there's double meanings. The cast is double cast- the same guys who play Mulligan (Oak) and Lafayette (Daveed Diggs) play Madison and Jefferson. Mulligan and Lafayette fought with Hamilton in battle and Madison and Jefferson fought with him politically. Anthony Ramos plays Laurens and Phillip. Both Eliza and Angelica aren't double cast, but Jasmine Cephas who plays Peggy and Maria also loved Hamilton.

I would definitely be into you reacting to the whole play!! To me it's one of the best pieces of art and the whole musical is done through HipHop, Rap and R&B and it's just mind blowing really. I recommend having captions on if going forward but I would definitely watch all your reactions!

The first song is called "Welcome to the Rock". They use a lot of regional instruments which lend to a really cool sound.

I don’t usually do this, so forgive me Hamilfans... You don’t want to pass up your Shot to watch the show. We promise You’ll Be Back for more. Once you start, it’s like you’re Helpless and aren’t Satisfied until you see the next scene. And if life gets busy and reactions are slow, we’ll Wait for It. As long as you continue, That Would Be Enough. We knew you were a natural for the show when you said the first scene was Non-Stop. And when you get to the end and are watching the scenes One Last Time, you’ll feel like- ‘Hamilton? I Know Him.’ We Know. All the moving parts of the play are like a Hurricane, which continues to Blow Us All Away. And hopefully we can learn that The World’s Wide Enough for us all.
Re: everything going on in the background. There is SO much! The ensemble is incredible and they're used very specifically and very well. There are a few really stunning moments like Helpless/ Satisfied and Hurricane that are especially worth focusing on what's happening on the rest of the stage around the solo.
Like everyone else said, there's going to be a lot more rap so you won't be disappointed lol The show is over 20,000 words and definitely gets much faster. And any song that isn't/ character that doesn't rap has a specific reason. Lin-Manuel Miranda (the author/ composer/ Hamilton) said that because Hamilton was such a prolific writer himself, rap was the only way to fit enough words in to do him justice. And Lin has been called a walking hip hop encyclopedia and is a huge fan, so there's a ton of rap references in the show too lol.
One more thing! If you like rap and end up liking Hamilton, high recommend checking out the Hamilton Mixtape. The show started out as a concept album and then went to broadway instead. But Lin still put together a mixtape with a bunch of big name artists doing either their take on Hamilton songs, or inspired by the show.

Dude.... please get Disney+ if you don't already have it and react to the entire musical. It is a fucking masterpiece in every way. No exaggeration. Also subtitles are super helpful in some faster portions. Your channel will gain many subscribers if you do it, and either way it would be an absolute pleasure to watch.
If you’re gonna watch the whole thing, I would recommend that you just briefly familiarize yourself with the key players. It’s a fantastic hip hop musical, but also moves quickly at times and it can be easy to lose the story if you don’t know who the primary characters are.

My favourite bit is the whole 'we fought with him' bit because there's double meanings.
The cast is double cast- the same guys who play Mulligan (Oak) and Lafayette (Daveed Diggs) play Madison and Jefferson. Mulligan and Lafayette fought with Hamilton in battle and Madison and Jefferson fought with him politically. Anthony Ramos plays Laurens and Phillip.
Both Eliza and Angelica aren't double cast, but Jasmine Cephas who plays Peggy and Maria also loved Hamilton.
Ok, so I first heard the soundtrack and was like you. Blown TF away. Memorized it all. Fam memorized it all..it came to AZ and we SAW it and were like..how TF does anyone absorb the audio and visuals at the same time??? So here you are. Blind blind af to it. This is so entertaining.

So salaries for a full time Broadway show can range anywhere from about $100k a year to millions. I would definitely be into you reacting to the whole play!! To me it's one of the best pieces of art and the whole musical is done through HipHop, Rap and R&B and it's just mind blowing really. I recommend having captions on if going forward but I would definitely watch all your reactions!

The first song is called "Welcome to the Rock". They use a lot of regional instruments which lend to a really cool sound.

The whole thing is a musical written by Lin-manual Miranda who plays Alexander Hamilton. The musical is about Alexander’s life. The opening song is just to describe his origins and how he got to America and give and idea of how the story will end. If you already know about his life, then you know who each character is by the end of the first song.
Lin-Manuel Miranda who plays Hamilton wrote the whole thing.
He also wrote In The Heights.
He done other huge things like he wrote the songs for Moana and Vivo. Man’s a genius.

You don’t want to pass up your Shot to watch the show. We promise You’ll Be Back for more. Once you start, it’s like you’re Helpless and aren’t Satisfied until you see the next scene. And if life gets busy and reactions are slow, we’ll Wait for It. As long as you continue, That Would Be Enough. We knew you were a natural for the show when you said the first scene was Non-Stop.
After a couple of songs, you’ll ask yourself What’d I Miss all this time. You won’t want to Take a Break because you won’t be able to Say No to This show. You can’t go to the theater to watch the play, so at least now you can be in The Room Where It Happens. And when you get to the end and are watching the scenes One Last Time, you’ll feel like- ‘Hamilton? I Know Him.’ We Know. All the moving parts of the play are like a Hurricane, which continues to Blow Us All Away. And hopefully we can learn that The World’s Wide Enough for us all.

Re: everything going on in the background. There is SO much! The ensemble is incredible and they're used very specifically and very well. There are a few really stunning moments like Helpless/ Satisfied and Hurricane that are especially worth focusing on what's happening on the rest of the stage around the solo.
Like everyone else said, there's going to be a lot more rap so you won't be disappointed lol The show is over 20,000 words and definitely gets much faster. And any song that isn't/ character that doesn't rap has a specific reason. Lin-Manuel Miranda (the author/ composer/ Hamilton) said that because Hamilton was such a prolific writer himself, rap was the only way to fit enough words in to do him justice. And Lin has been called a walking hip hop encyclopedia and is a huge fan, so there's a ton of rap references in the show too lol.
One more thing! If you like rap and end up liking Hamilton, high recommend checking out the Hamilton Mixtape. The show started out as a concept album and then went to broadway instead. But Lin still put together a mixtape with a bunch of big name artists doing either their take on Hamilton songs, or inspired by the show.
