I noticed that the majority of towns recommended are metro-Omaha/Lincoln.

Problem with nebraska is it’s incredibly expensive to live here. We are one of the highest taxed states in the country. I live in a middle class house and pay $980 per month in PROPERTY Tax alone. This is on par with my father in law who lives in Chicago. And you don’t get any reprieve elsewhere as our state taxes and vehicle taxes are in line with California. Just beware if you’re moving here, you only keep around 60% of your earnings here as opposed to somewhere like Iowa or Oklahoma or Texas where you keep much more of your earnings.

@@ZBatt1 it’s very true. I pay more here than my in laws in Chicago. I have a much smaller home too

Property taxes are too high and have been for a long time. The low population base is the reason for the high property taxes. They try to fix it but the options are never that good. We'll see what the new governor does. Not much faith in him

@@nnonotnow just got a notice my taxes going up another $216 a month this year. So for a middle income housing it’s now $1100 a month in prop tax. I’d steer clear of nebraska If looking to move .

Avoid Bennington if you don't like sky high property taxes. They spend money like drunken sailors.

Property taxes are pushing people out. Nebraska rakes in 900 million in lottrry sales every year. Where is that money going? The streets are horrible year round.

Don’t forget high taxes, miserable winters, humid summers, many miles from any outdoor activities. Low wage grinder jobs
