Just scrolled through the comments, can’t believe there’s no mention of Gene Elders on the fiddle. What an amazing musician 🎻
Thank you and I appreciate you so much lovely fan❤️ have you ever wished to have a chat with me?
Gewne Elders is a Mountain of fiddlers, like him very much
I can't believe he never gives Terry Stafford credit for writing this song.
Fiddler was amazing on this
I've known that fiddle all my life, but never the name of the man who wielded it. Thanks!
"I ain't got a dime but what I got is mine, I ain't rich but Lord I'm free."
One of the best lyrics ever written.
No doubt brother!
the recipe for a happy and fulfilled life in just a single line.
It says COWBOY ALL THE WAY
Did Strait write it?
@ Bonnie Haynes:
Nope.
His beautiful voice hasn’t changed at all

The sad truth is that you are watching one of the last of his kind. True country singer. Not pop, not rock, not rap....but country! There isn't anymore real country on the radio. I think Greorge should start his own label and promote real country sounding talent.
Signed, some Mexican from Texas.
It ain't on the radio, but you can find it online these days. Cody Jinks, Chris Stapleton, Whisky Myers, etc.
I love this song I used to hear it when I was young in my 20 yrs old and I love it !!!
Signed. Victor Munoz
You've forgotten about the great Alan Jackson.
Yes that's very true, they don't make em like they used to ...Long Live Country Music ❤❤❤
RIP Gene Elders, Amarillo by Morning will never be the same!
Where are you from pretty
Sounds even better than 30 years ago. I'm a life long fan but for a 67 year old man to sing like that..... just amazing
He was 64 when this was recorded but your point still stands.

What an awsome song sung by a real pro.
When this song came out I was working in a small bar in downtown Amarillo a young guy came in with his saddle and rigging and asked if I would put it in a little place we kept liquor in that he would be back for it. This kid hitchhiked to Amarillo for the rodeo . Nice young man. He came back and got his stuff . I always think of him when I hear this song.
Hell yeah.
George's voice ages like wine.
Nice meeting you Fan--Thanks for supporting my Dream and Carrier--May God Almighty continue to bless you always.

George is perfection and so is the gentleman planning his violin/fiddle! Beautiful!
Undoubtedly the King. None of this pop country. This is where it's at.

I've always said that if you're not wearing a hat and singing with a "drawl" you ain't singing country. This is why this man epitomizes country music. All the flashy lights, feathered hair and "badonkadonks" are just not country. Those are things that Katy Perry or someone like that does. I heard a quote from Ray Charles at one point where he basically said that he liked country music because it always told a story. I think that's what's missing from a lot of todays music in general but it's really devastating to country in my opinion. The story is the very soul of a country song, and the reason why it evokes so many emotions in us as listeners.
I'm afraid we're all going have to support our local country music venues because we are not ever going to get true country from the corporatist in Nashville....
I think you mean PURE COUNTRY
Amen, Brother Scott. I am afraid those days are gone. I remember them well. It seems to me in was just the other day, it was 1982 and I was listening to George on a cassette on a gravel road.
Love the song. The fiddle parts in the song and at the end give me the chills no matter how many times I hear the song. Thanks George and The Ace in the Hole Band....

That's why this man is the king of country music...this was recorded live, in an old wood frame honky tonk, and still sounds every bit as good as an edited studio version. He's the last of a dying breed.

i cant listen to this song without crying lol
Notice the reverence given to the fiddle solo at the end. This crowd is 100% real Texan. They didnt ruin what they know to be a treasure. You wont see that in Vegas or other huge venues.

Dude has really took care of his voice after all these years man he sounds like he did on Pure Country just a little older obviously but he can still hit them high notes. One a talented guy
Lol I think he's no stranger to auto tune
@@vigierandprsrule I extremely disagree lol George strait and auto tune? That's laughable. I grew up on 80s and 90s country. I won't be able to explain the theory of relatively or figure out a calculous equation but I know my country. I got every album strait released except for his newest one he put out this year. I can tell you for a fact he has never used auto tune. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't even know what auto tune is. His first album was released in 1981 before the first song with auto tune was even published and he sounds the same now as then. The only difference is he sounds older. Which is expected since his first album called Strait Country was released in 1981 when he was 29 years old. He's 67 now and still sounds the same. His live performance sounds the same as on the album if not better depending on personal taste. I would literally bet my life George strait has never used auto tune and there's a good chance he doesn't even know what that shit is. He's old fashioned, sings in an old fashioned style, and got where he is today the old fashioned way - with raw talent. Now the new country of today I can't speak for because I listen to very little of it because most of it is garbage and lacks talent but don't try to tell me one of the most talented singers of all time uses fucking auto tune. That's a fucking insult for real...
@@bub927 lots of artists-old and new-use pitch correction.
@@bub927ruclips.net/video/oZNR38jQCS8/видео.html
@@vigierandprsrule I read saving country music and I'm aware of the effects he used on some songs on that album but he doesn't use straight up auto tune. Auto tune is T-pain and Akon. His live performance shows he doesn't need it to sound like the badass singer he is
Guy hung up to bareback horse was a guy named Bubba Harris from Boling TX. In the video
George Strait= what you see is just what you get! A genuine nice man who has tremendous amount of talent!!!! Having hunted in West Texas for over 20 years…..every cowboy I’ve meet or been around has nothing but good things to say about this man!! Enough said!! He’s is my way of thinking is not the King; he’s in fact the Man of country music! The face of what country is and should be! He’s to humble to consider himself a king! He’s just George Strait!!! It was my brother's favorite song. Rest in peace Gary.
I don't know why, but every time I hear this song, my eyes well up in tears. I'm not a rodeo cowboy or clown, I never was one nor do I have any connection with the rodeo business . Like I said, I don't know why but maybe it's because the song and lyrics are pure and simple. It's just George's singing, a small band, back-up singers and the fiddle playing. No autotuning, computerized or synthesized gimmicks to cover up horrible singing. To me, George's singing and the fiddle is what made this song and I hope this song will las even after all of us are gone.
My GOD! He sings it better in his 60’s than he did in his 30’s. GREAT song. Go KING👍

Agree, his best song he has sung, the violin is a big part of this song., I don't listen much to country, but when I hit this song on the radio, It's played....

How long have you been my fan?
What a legend, he sounds better now than 25 years ago. By far the greatest country song of all time
One of the greatest.
Thank you for Following my page , Support you showered on me
First time I watched Pure Country and then when "Dusty" sang I Cross My Heart to the woman he loved, I felt this was one of the most romantic songs and not ashamed to say I cried tears of hope, happiness and love that were brought out by this man in that moment of a very enjoyable movie. Hearing this today, George still has that golden voice that carries you away with this song's story. To sing this well after all these years, simply amazing and so enjoyable. Thank you George Strait!
I first heard George sing this song. I was driving 500 miles from ElPaso to Amarillo to visit my sister. I had been driving 100 PH in the desert of New Mexico. Somewhere. Usually on that part of the road you don’t see CHP’s I got to Indian country and slowed down The Apache are strictly on the speed limit. Do I slow down to 50 mph bored and tired this song came on Amarillo by morning. Pull into Amarillo at midnight.
One of my fav songs!!
Thank you and I appreciate you so much lovely fan❤️ have you ever wished to have a chat with me?

@Teresa Fox >Hey, I see you’re more of a country girl. would you to go on long drive in a big truck on a shiny little beamer with the ragtop down. Sittin' in the drive while the dogs were all barkin' and waggin' in the truck. Sippin’ on some cold Jack Daniel’s . Coke cans rollin’ on the floor, playin’ songs on the stereo on a half tank of gasoline?! If you don’t mind making new friends. Please do write me via mcleanshultz@gmail.com.
Thanks for supporting my music 🎶 I’m so grateful 🥰 and I hope you never stop being a fan, I would like to honor you by giving you my personal information if that’s ok by you.💜

George sounds just as good today as he did back in late 70s when I first moved to Texas.
Thanks for being a great fan of country music over the years. I created this account as a means for me to reach my lovely fans. True country music right there love you George
@countrygirl countrymusiclover There's such a thing as fake therapists, though.
I’ve been fortunate to have seen the King many times throughout the years. Unlike his music, we’re getting old. May our God Lord continue to bless King George from Texas!
I might be late in response but I would love to thank you for loving my musical ambitions!. Have you had the opportunity to attend any of my concerts before?

Thank God there is some country music left. God bless Texas.
Country music at its finest right here ladies and gentlemen
The real king of country! God bless King George and that fiddle!
This song was written by Terry Stafford who went to Palo Duro HS in Amarillo mid 60's.
Best money I ever spent for a concert was to see George Strait(King of the Cowboys) I do hope I can see him one last time.
Still awesome! This is a timeless song I will never get tired of 😀
George Strait at Gruene Hall is perfection.
I stood on that stage almost exactly where he is and watched The Groobees reunion show. (They were set up on the opposite end of the hall, by the bar...)
Oh, and George Strait is a national treasure.)
I live right by Gruene Hall. It’s tiny and has unbelievable performances. A few weeks ago I caught Garth Brooks here

I know this is 4 yrs. old ('16) but dang.....he sounds absolutely magnificent. Looks are holding up....and really.....that's a damn fine sounding band behind him. Oh man.....how this brings back the mid 80's for this boy. So many of my buds and gals I surrounded myself with are gone....I literally pray to see them again soon enough.

@@georgestrait565 Wow....what a wonderful surprise....I had no idea that you'd ever check back on older comments. Sure....whatever personal info. you're referring to...that'd be much appreciated. I tend to get into RUclips to surf around at least every day, and I'll keep an eye out for your response. I know we're all human, Mr. S- but truly....I've never heard one neg. word about you or the way you've handled yourself. In my 66 yrs, I can't say that about too many folks. Like my late rural Nebraska grandparents used to say about people that they really liked and trusted over the years..."oh....he's just an old shoe"....lol. God Bless joel in tucson
