Marleen thank you so much for all the tips on apple shape styling. Everything you said I used to have the same problems with, now I’m learning what looks good on me and what doesn’t 😊
Great tips Marleen. To be honest, a lot of this also applies to fleshy hipped, chunky thighed pears! Skinny jeans and low rise jeans just do nothing for us. High waist wide leg all day long! Whatever, you always look fab. 😙👌
An informative and interesting video! The examples of how to dress to disguise the apple shape are excellent and make a big difference! Your suggestions make a lot of sense and even though I'm a slim person, I still have a small protruding stomach and somewhat sloping shoulders that I'm not happy with. And that is rarely addressed in smaller women. I'm going to use your suggestions for help with those figure concerns I have. Thank you!
Fantastic video. Some outfits make me look rounder. I’m slowly moving away from leggings. I’m going to experiment with clothes choices after watching this video, thank you Marleen xxx
Thanks for sharing!! I had never thought about the skinny heels, but it is true, when I look back at photos of me in them...I kinda look like I'm on stilts 😂. I occasionally still wear my skinny jeans but admit that my straight legs and boot cuts are more flattering by leaps and bounds. As usual, great video Marleen ❤❤
OMG I graduated in 2000 and my high school days were horrible with low rise jeans because I was always a big girl. High-rise was not a thing and it sucked so bad. I’ve been doing more wide leg pants and not so much fully tucking my shirt in but kind of like maybe a French tuck or a side tuck but it’s still billowing for my comfort. I will never give up my leggings and big tops though because sometimes I just want to be comfortable and that’s gonna be something with an elastic waist that feels like pajamas 😂
Marlene although not a true apple I am top heavy with a slimmer waist and hips however many of your tips work for me as well.. Skinny jeans are an awful look and actually only really work on skinny teenagers. - well that's what I think! As usual your videos are full of really helpful information ❤❤
Hi Marleentje, thanks for these tips, they are very handy!! Love from an old (rebel), Pinkie FYI: found a very good bra for my problem!!! BTW: They buy a low rise jeans but also make the huge mistake to buy the size that is just a bit to small instead of taking the right size so it fits well. And when they pick that so small size: lo and behold: rolls peeping (muffintop-alert!!) over the jeans belt!!!! Pick the right size and you will not have that, ladies!!!!
I so agree with the skinny jeans and leggings! Also, I agree with the skinny heels though I had not thought about it, I do prefer a block or chunky heel. Great tips! Loved them all and have them noted for the future shopping needs.
Thank you Marleen! Can I ask a question. For us shorties - am 5’2 sometimes I feel like the wide leg trousers overwhelm me. Are they still ok for us vertically challenged folk 😂
Yes they absolutely are BUT the proportions with your upper half is so much more important. In order not to swamp your petite height, make sure you follow the rule of thirds. This means really define the waist (tucking is the easiest way to do this) and if you then add a layer, make sure this isn’t too long. The looser trousers will skim the tummy so you can afford a more fitted top which will give us the balance. I hope that helps x
@@ImjustmeMarleen Aw thank you! Am doing a wardrobe clear out today and am purging everything that doesn't fit with the 'apple' aesthetic! Thank you sooooooooo much Marleen, you have literally made such a difference to my life🥰
The length is key my dear. You need to find the perfect length so it doesn’t look mumsy. Other than that I’d say just have fun with it. As it’s a-line it should skim the tum beautiful so no tummy in sight so try it with all you got and see what you like. Length is the big one. I’m afraid I can’t tell you the perfect length as it varies from person to person, but try one and just roll the waistband till you find the length you prefer, you could then alter the skirt if you already own it or look for one that has your perfect length. Hope that helps
The “rules” are really the same. Use the rule if thirds, keep balance and proportions in check and as you have broad shoulders I’m guessing you may look too heavy? And if so it’s much the same as in this video x
How do mid rise stay up? That's my widest part. I like skinnies because I can find high rise that stay up. That's pretty much what develops my style is what I can find. I wear oversized tops because my bust is a 4X and the rest of my body is a 1X. Men's shirts fit better than women's (but not my style if I had choice). No polyester or layers because it's 90f+ (32c) for most of the year.
Getting the right fit is key. Most people wear clothes that doesn’t fit properly sadly. Either too big or too small. But you do you dear, as I said, wear what makes you happy x
I bought a shiny gold top for Christmas last year. I look at pictures and it looked horrible! It was long sleeved with small pleating. It would definitely need to have a fitted jacket over it to ever look good or passable. That shiny fabric was not attractive on a big belly!

I thought the yellow checked dress looked really nice on you!
I agree with you regarding skinny jeans, I always look like egg on legs!
I looooved the yellow dress but the fit was never the best for me

Hi Marleen! As apple shapes, how do we style a-line midi skirts? Or is it better to stay away? ❤❤

Any suggestions for me who has broad shoulders and a big tummy that’s bigger than my chest?

I love these tips but I can't say no to skinny jeans. xx
You are not alone on that one so don’t worry x
I love satin look but it looks awful on me. I did find a pleated skirt though which seems to work.
Once in a while we find a piece that in theory shouldn’t work but it does.. and that’s brilliant lol x

Thanks a lot my names norma from Mexico City
