This is my personal favorite project of yours. It just shows the resilience of life in it's fullest. I've done something similar recently. Everything was frozen up until a few days ago where I live, so plants didn't sprout until then. I live in a desert, so I wondered what would happen if the jar was incredibly humid. It has a nice greenhouse effect, and seeing through the glass is especially difficult when it's cold, but that's it so far. Currently these are all the organisms I've noticed: I have an unidentified small plant about the size of a smaller pebble. It has a single leaf. I have a very small grass plant with only three blades, and the entire thing is under the dirt (I made a little cavern in the dirt, so I was hoping plants could grow both above ground and below). The last thing I've noticed is that there is a very small patch of algae between the dirt and the glass in one place. Even though it's about the size of a fridge magnet, it's the largest plant in the entire container as of right now.
I left a flower pot with soil on the balcony in autumn and in spring I was amazed to see a maple and a birch growing in there, oh, and also a tiny flower.

I noticed that you got the dirt from a place that looked like a garden - something that had been well tended and obviously had a lot of life in it - do you think that affected what grew?
