I remember sadly watching this game as a sophomore in college at Bemidji State University. I recorded it on the old VCR and have it somewhere, but this was a nice way to spend a couple hours today -- watching this. Dick Stockton is my favorite announcer, and what a great coincidence that he announced the first/last games at Three Rivers. I vividly remember how dysfunctional the Redskins were in 2000! Great stuff! I've never been a big Steelers fan, but I'm in the rare breed of fans that miss the multipurpose stadiums. Why? Because none of them are left. They weren't flashy, but the purpose was to host games, and not be distracted in every which way the new stadiums are nowadays. These old stadiums let fans come in (at a fair price), watch a game, and leave. Three Rivers epitomized all those tough Pittsburgh teams. RIP Three Rivers!
The Steelers were nearing the end of a transition in 2000 after being gutted by Free Agency. The 90’s core was aging/gone and a new one was in place. The Steelers overcame an 0-3 start to contend for the final AFC playoff spot. It set the tone for the 2000’s teams that won two Super Bowls.
+jaygorny I remember the noise level too as I was at the Pirates home opener in 1986. I had never seen so many people together in one place and it was great to see and here the crowd around me especially when we all did the 'wave'! Great memories of Three Rivers Stadium!
Jason Gildon Jerome Bettis (HOF) Dermonti Dawson (HOF) Kordell Stewart Joey Porter Dwayne Washington Plaxico Burress Hines Ward Levon Kirkland Lee Flowers They had a hell of a roster for a team that didn't got to the playoffs Much credit to HOF coach Cowher for making his team win 9 games (despite not making the AFC playoffs)
2000 was the best year of my life, and even tho the steelers were average that year it was nice to watch the last game at three rivers and go back to 2000 again. Imagine that Steeler defense with the 2015 Steeler offense. Anyway, thanks a lot for uploading!
This season was so frustrating as a Skins fan. Hyped up over the Skins signing Deion, Bruce and Carrier. They got off to a slow 1-2 start but then got to 6-2 and looked like they were going be Super Bowl contenders that everyone said they were and than collapsed in the 2nd half of the season. Special Teams was a mess, Brad Johnson has a bad year, Michael Westbrook tore his ACL early in the season after having a breakout 1999 season, the kicking game was a mess, losing to an awful Cowboys team twice, Dan Snyder being Dan Snyder. Just frustrating.
Dan Snyder always signs washed up has-beens. I'm sure he had jealousy in this game seeing a team that is built the right way in the Steelers. The Redskins were so soft that they brought their own heated benches to the game on the sideline😂
I miss watching him, along with Hines & many other Steeler greats, it's not the same without them even though Le'Veon Bell reminds me of the Bus & Antonio Brown reminds me of Hines each time he smiles lol
I remember this game watching it in the very early hours. it was a shame I couldn't come over to this final game to feel all the memories and most of all the city of Pittsburgh that I call home
I have a small square of turf.My Uncle Mike did some electrical work yrs. ago and he asked some dude in a suit if he could have this small square for his nephew,me!!
Because it was old school. It rocked. The only thing that sucked was the hard rock turf. The greatest thing about it was when the fans were loud. They were so loud the stadium shook. U felt it beneath your feet.
Because we got ripped off you know we still owed money on that stadium when we blew it up let me say that again we still owed money on that stadium when we blew it up
looking back at this...kimo was not the right fit at nose...he excelled as an end...drafting casey hampton in the first round in 01 solidiifed our dline for the next decade...and led to 2 superbowl trophies and a sb appearance
I watched this game on TV as a 12-year-old, not understanding anything about football. What I remember the most was how ugly this field looked. The baseball cutouts and the pitcher's mound look out of place. Very unsightly.
2000 was also the final season for Dermonti Dawson, the last draft selection by Chuck Noll still with the team.
Yeah I never thought about that It was the end of an era indeed
jason gildon the most underrated linebacker in steelers history
Fully agree sir
insidewrestlingtruth Baby Lloyd??
Got to meet him at the hall of fame. Coolest guy ever. I thanked him for all the great memories 😎

I sure do miss Three Rivers Stadium!
Every day and being there in that stadium . .it's. .so god like..
I actually have a small model of it made from turf from it 😃
+JackFlemingFan agreed! The noise level was deafening. Heinz field can never get this loud
+jaygorny I remember the noise level too as I was at the Pirates home opener in 1986. I had never seen so many people together in one place and it was great to see and here the crowd around me especially when we all did the 'wave'! Great memories of Three Rivers Stadium!
I have piece of turf from it!
I know how u feel we miss our home here
I have this and Pirates one on VHS! Was a rainy day up near Pitt that day for Steeler game..I remember it just poured and cold all day long!
Jason Gildon
Jerome Bettis (HOF)
Dermonti Dawson (HOF)
Kordell Stewart
Joey Porter
Dwayne Washington
Plaxico Burress
Hines Ward
Levon Kirkland
Lee Flowers
They had a hell of a roster for a team that didn't got to the playoffs
Much credit to HOF coach Cowher for making his team win 9 games (despite not making the AFC playoffs)
The Steelers also had Alan Faneca, who is also a Hall of Famer.

Pat Hutchison that would have been cool to see Big Ben play at Three Rivers BB to AB on the Astro turf
We beat the ravens in Baltimore that year. That was fun

Thank You so very, very much for posting this final game at 3 Rivers Stadium between the Redskins & Steelers back in 2000. I LOVE IT VERY, VERY MUCH.
Say what you want about Matt Millen as a commentator. He was still better in the booth than he was in the front office with The Lions.
I don’t think many people will disagree.
30 years of success at Three Rivers Stadium
Bruce Smith, Andre Reed, Deion Sanders, Dana Stubblefield, that's a great team if it's 1994.
Dan Snyder always signs washed up has-beens. I'm sure he had jealousy in this game seeing a team that is built the right way in the Steelers. The Redskins were so soft that they brought their own heated benches to the game on the sideline😂
heard that #86 turned out pretty good🤔
Thank You, happy to see this video!
THIS YEAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN 49 YEARS THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES
Even Bradshaw predicted that Snyder would be a bad owner
I can't believe grown men of that size and stature actually played tackle football on freakin' astro-turf.
They continued to play on that concrete rug until about 2004
Touchdowns:
1:20:25 PIT: Poteat 53-yd punt ret
1:30:30 PIT: Huntley 3-yd rush
2:23:30 PIT: Huntley 30-yd rush
Key Stats:
PIT:
Jerome Bettis 25 car, 104 rush yds, 1 rec, 25 rec yds
Richard Huntley 7 car, 56 yds, 2 TD
Earl Holmes 13 tackles, 1 FR
In my opinion, it would've been nice if Matt Millen had been in Three Rivers Stadium when they imploded it. I could never stand that guy.
Yes. This right here. Action like he's the smartest guy in the room when he's clearly an idiot.
I agree with you 1,000%. Matt "The Rat" Millen is a LOSER.
I was there also, was a crazy time people were ripping up the seats after the game and all kinds of stuff, still got my foam cushion
I got dressed for my wedding white watching Hank Poteat return a punt for a touchdown in this game.
Thanks for sharing great video
Jerome "Bus" Bettis rumbling for his 100+ yards...like clockwork
I miss watching him, along with Hines & many other Steeler greats, it's not the same without them even though Le'Veon Bell reminds me of the Bus & Antonio Brown reminds me of Hines each time he smiles lol
Half time show on on ship was TAPED & NOT live
I remember this game watching it in the very early hours. it was a shame I couldn't come over to this final game to feel all the memories and most of all the city of Pittsburgh that I call home
dick stockon did first game at 3 rivers and the last game. I was there I shead a few tears great memborys
A young Hines Ward, Bobby Shaw, Courtney Hawkins, and Troy Edwards were our receivers. Good god.
Don’t forget about Plaxico Burress he was a rookie that season.
I have a small square of turf.My Uncle Mike did some electrical work yrs. ago and he asked some dude in a suit if he could have this small square for his nephew,me!!
When I went with my dad to pick up his seats that he bought from the stadium he cut several pieces of the turf and took it with him
I have to ask, do u know if it was near the spot where Franco made the immaculate reception?
27:55 Future NFL head coach
Bruce Smith
Most sacks in league history
Number one overall pick by Buffalo in 1985
I remember getting dressed for my wedding and watching Hank Poteat return that second quarter punt for a touchdown.
I was there!
1:23:45 is everything wrong with Washingtons Cupcake mentality. Brought their own heated benches😂😂 how soft can a teams mindset be?
How about Aaron Smith out there?
Jerry Aldeens highly underrated
WHy did this stadium only last 30 years?
Rooneys were holding Allegheny County taxpayers hostage for RAD tax and new stadium.
Because it was old school. It rocked. The only thing that sucked was the hard rock turf. The greatest thing about it was when the fans were loud. They were so loud the stadium shook. U felt it beneath your feet.

Curious now if Collinsworth threw up in the F14 lmao.
looking back at this...kimo was not the right fit at nose...he excelled as an end...drafting casey hampton in the first round in 01 solidiifed our dline for the next decade...and led to 2 superbowl trophies and a sb appearance
It was 15 year ago I was 11 year old
I was 9. Watching it at my grandma's job
I was 20 year old watching at my friend house in Pittsburgh
Omg. I was 30! Lol!!
back when Pam Oliver was good lookin
Steelers haven't played home games on astroturf since
Madden and Summerall should’ve called this game
I watched this game on TV as a 12-year-old, not understanding anything about football. What I remember the most was how ugly this field looked. The baseball cutouts and the pitcher's mound look out of place. Very unsightly.
That was the case for nearly all of the Multi Purpose stadiums that were built over 50 years ago
I had forgotten just how miserable a QB Kordell really was.
25:53 Did someone fart 💨 on air?
Good question. I don't think so, though.
Hahahaha that's hilarious!
Three Hall Of Fame cornerbacks on the Redskins roster. But, unfortunately, a Hall Of Shame team owner and quarterback.
24:39 when the game starts
Seems of things to come after 9/11 with troops or ship's. It's not an Army/Navy game...
This is the 1999 season correct?
+4lifeReagan no. it was 2000 season
What happened to Brad Johnson this year? Did he get benched?
Joseph Bruneel
He got traded to the Buccaneers 🏴☠️
He got benched that year typical dysfunction in Washington he was sent to the bucs in the offseason
Irving Fryar, Bruce Smith and Jeff George, all first overall picks playing for Dan Snyder, washed up of course
Don't forget about Dan Wilkinson.
Dang it Matt Millen is in this game 😔
Matt Millen has always been a dick. Not even a hard on. Just a dick with some clothes on.
