- The Bandai Star Wars Shadow Stormtrooper is the perfect example of an exclusive. It's a cool figure but not one that is really needed. So, obtainable with a little effort, or you can just pass it up altogether.

The shadow stormtrooper box is like that because it’s usually a premium Bandai kit which use a more minimalist box art I think
Great review thanks. I had this model in my hands yesterday but I was not sure... now I'll get it for sure. I have an sh figuarts shadow trooper and getting a second one is around 90usd on ebay... vs 35 usd the model. I'll give it a try.

If I get him I’ll probably get a few more standard troopers first
They should make a Bandai Imperial shock trooper model kit. I'd buy that in a heartbeat. I can see how it would be hard for them to develop though. You would need a lot of stickers.
I've always thought it would be a genius idea for either Bandai or some third party to produce high quality decal and waterslide packs for stuff like that. We already have Stormtrooper and Clone Trooper models, make us buy more of the same thing by releasing separate decal packs for the Shocktrooper, the various clone squads and ranks, etc. THrow in some little things for the different Battle Droid ranks too. Sit back, collect money.
And to that I say, learning to paint will be your friend.
I really wish it wasn't a tamashi web exclusive. I would buy it in a heart beat if I could get it at a similar price as the original.
+Mason Cain I got lucky when I proe-ordered, it wasn't that much higher than a regular kit. Now I only see it for a lot more.
i don't know if someone said this before but the legends say they cloak with a stealth field generator.

I'm an experienced Lego builder but I haven't really done many model kits before, I'm not gonna ditch Lego but I'd like to get more into model kits. Wish me luck lol.

I still need to get a couple standard troopers. I know I'd love them, but I've been buying so much lately, they keep on taking the backseat to new releases.
+Slaker117 I totally understand that. Believe me though, once you grab one and build it, you'll want a couple of more. I usually order one when I'm in between reviews or bored. Of course, getting around to building them is a totally different story, haha.

Having built a lot of Gundams over the years, and just picking up the Vader recently, I can safely say Bandai knows their shit with model kits. I can also understand the attraction to the model kits over other figures, because having built them myself I feel more of a personal connection than a factory-assembled figure.
Yeah, personal connection, I like that. A little elbow grease, no two are alike. Makes them a little more intimate.
the stickers actually molds over the parts better if you don't have decal softener or color thinner.(I accidentally found out color thinner can help decals mold on nicely.
I would put this empire emblem sticker somewhere on his brest
+AppeFinger I didn't realize that the trooper had that in the game until I started editing the video for this review. THe kit even comes with empire decals. Bigger, but could work.

Hi Robo, been trying find this kit and its like trying to find a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, tried Amazon, Ebay and other model kit sites.was this kit a limited edition ???
This was an exclusive and hard to get. After putting this together and loving it I tried to track another one down. Haven't been able to find a decently priced one since then.
Another great review... I was looking at buying one but because it's the same as the standard trooper... I think I'm going to save the extra cash... buy another standard trooper & paint him black... on a side note... a way you can help reduce dust & fingerprint collection on this trooper & 3PO is to use a little car polish such as Meguiar's Ultimate liquid wax (it's got an anti-static agent in it...) & microfiber polishing cloths... that's what I do with my model cars... anyway keep the videos coming & I'll keep watching them... & once I've got enough bits I'll start posting videos of my Deagostini Falcon build...
+The Sarge I've been seeing quite a few people just painting the standard trooper kit. At this point that is waaaaaaay cheaper. And thanks for the wax tip. I also have Phasma that makes me nervous to touch, haha.
+The Fwoosh The wax will work on Phasma too... I use it on the chrome bumpers of my car models & it's all good... it should work on all your gloss finish models...
man lucky you im still awaiting mine to be shipped.. but cant wait to build this! i see you like the neck pieces on the shadow troopers you could try pulling a mold and make as many neck pieces for your troopers. also i would recommend using Mr. Mark softer for your decals which melts the decals onto the plastic making it look like its painted perfectly on. Nice video and hope to see more!
+Juan Rafael I use Micro Set and Sol for the decals. It's actually when they get soft is when I usually screw them up, haha. I prefer the neck on the Sandtrooper, but pulling the shadow and stormtrooper necks up a bit helps a lot. Thanks, I hope you get yours soon!

Pretty nice figure, but I have no moneys. Lol. Also would you say the sandtrooper is the best trooper to get if i'm only buying one? Super chill review as always mate, made my night as I sit here with a cold.
+TR-8R THE STORMTROOPER THAT SAYS TRAITOR! Haha, it makes my day that I have a soothing effect. I would definitely say the Sandtrooper is my go to trooper, you have several options and can display as either a Sandy or a Stormy.

Putting black cloth over the joints to give it a body glove look? I might try it, looks nice.
I really hope they make a Kylo ren model kit. Your videos on these made me buy the FO trooper and i was not disappointed. It looks great. Thanks for the recommendation.

as far as i know, bandai model kit capt. phasma is the only model kit product that use cloth part for only 4320 yen
Hopefully they will release a Vader with a cloth Cape. And release it separately (Cape) so people without it can buy one.
And maybe a Kylo?

can you please show me how to cut the parts smoothly ? just finish my first order stormtrooper, some parts look a bit messy cause the way i clean the extra plastic, i use nail snapper and exacto knife, anyway, great review!
+Baskoro Juwono Best set of Nippers I have found are available on Amazon from Gundam Planet. About $35. Gave all my other Sprue Cutters away after I used it on My C-3PO Kit.
+Baskoro Juwono Like Skip said, spring for some nippers. They may seem like they're not any better than fingernail clippers or craft cutters, but they are. Soooooo much better. Most of the time you won't even need that exacto knife. bit.ly/1QouFyz

+Baskoro Juwono Besides a good set of nippers......don't cut right on the part. Cut just a little bit away from the part, then go back to nip the little extra Sprite off the part. Less stress on the part, especially the.smaller ones. Lite scraps with the extractor knife. You don't need fancy files or sanding strips. You can get a bundle of fingernail boards from dollar tree for a dollar. Everything else comes with practice and patience.

hey fwoosh i know you didnt do it in this kit but i heard you painted a few details in the past kits, would be helpfull for us newbs to see how you did the painting, even though you might think you didnt go a good job its still more than most of us can do.
also another question, are you thinking of getting into the bandai kits for the ships and such?
I do show a little painting in the Biker Scout/Speeder Bike build and a couple of others, but that is something I've been thinking about since a lot of people ask. I still haven't gotten into the ships and I keep talking myself out of it. Money, time, space.
I have a question... speaking of painting, what's the best paint to say customize a figure? for example I'm trying to paint the emperor's wrath darth vader black as the head is a new sculpt and is way better looking than the first Vader head. the model paint I used is sticky or something... like for days. it should be dry by now but nope.
+ Ralph lerma You have to use acrylic paint. It sounds like you used enamel, it doesn't dry on plastics. I like Testors Model Master and Tamiya, easily found at hobby stores. Just remember. Acrylic.

+kylethedalek I found it only on Ebay and the cost was slightly higher. Just got mine yesterday and even though it is a White Trooper done in Black Plastic, I think It was worth the cost.

I searched for "Bandai Shadow Stormtrooper" and found four in kit form. They run from $39 + Shipping up to $80.
It is basically a Regular Stormtrooper kit only made with Gloss Black Plastic.
These are Limited and are Considered Premium Bandai Kits...so get it while you can.

This was a Bandai web exclusive, so it was hard to get when it first hit, the eBay prices are about standard price now.

I definitely don't dislike the ships, in fact I've considered getting some several times. But room, money, and time always keep me from actually buying any. My collection is 99% 6 inch figures, I just don't have anywhere to display smaller scale ships.
Now if Bandai did a 1:12 scale model ship line....yeah....I'd be broke, haha.
