Tried the fix yesterday in my 08 DTS. There WAS one burnt wire.We repaired it,connected it and still no heat. Don't know what we did wrong but this video was a big help even knowing what direction and seat to pull!
I am definitely doing this to my 2006 Buick Lucerne. Of course the heated seats stopped working when its -35 degrees for 2 weeks already here in Manitoba!!! Thank you. Here goes..
Thank You! RK! Excellent instructional! I also appreciate your calm voice which helped me persevere through the project! I just finished the repair on my 07 Cadillac Escalade, it was the same parts, and I ordered them from Mouser, along with some tined 12 awg Marine wire. Your instructional helped me every step of the way and helped me to persevere. I had to snap, crackle, and pop the plug out of the CSM. And hacksaw, break, and cuss, the wires out, that were stuck in the old plug, I soldered in 12 awg wires to the black ground wire, adding one also to the empty "L" space next to the ground wire. That fix was what I learned watching a Lincoln Navigator RUclips seat fix. These CSMs are similar and made through the same company. Ford seems to be way ahead in dealing with this issue. The last step was to replace a green 30 amp fuse that is in located on the side panel.
Hi R.K. I carried out this repair last night. I just wanted to really thank you for researching the pins. I found the connector but couldn’t source the pins. Caddy couldn’t help. I now have fully working heated seats and a very happy wife. Again many thanks for a great tutorial. 👍
update! I figured it out guys! got on the Chilton library, studied out the heated/cooled diagnostic. Found the 30a fuse in rear fuse box burnt. replaced it, I have cooling fans and heated seats! now- ths is all after watching RK's awesome vids, repaired my module and I replaced my melted connector with a ford harness repair kit. soldered wires up. replaced fuse, im back in action! thank you RK! and thanks to ski who fixed his and helped with ideas and what fixed his! any body can do this and you do not need to remove the seat!
Very nice and detailed video! Thanks for a well put together video with included part numbers. I have a 2007 Cadillac Escalade and it uses the same module. I found a burnt up connector and pin for the ground. I was able to unbolt the module from my seat without removing the seat since it sits up higher. I ordered everything from Mouser. Thanks again!
@@RK-iz3lt Hi, I was wondering if your repair is still going good as of 2020? I removed my passenger module this afternoon and found out that the plug has a burnt spot. The module looks good, I didn't see any burnt marks on the board, and the terminals are still solidly welded. Two of them are a wee bit tarnished tho.
@@fenrislegacy Yes, my car is still doing good. I did the same procedure on my sisters car except her positive wire was burnt. A short while later her negative wire burnt. May be a good idea to go ahead and replace both now and save time in the future. If all of your other wires look good you may be OK.
Thanks R K for your excellent video! It saved me a tremendous amount of money by not having to go to the dealer. This video was my exact problem and vehicle. Thanks again, Ski
FYI the T-50 Torx come out hard the first time because GM uses thread lock on the threads to keep the bolts from vibrating out. You should use thread lock when re-installing the T-50s the final time for your safety.
Excellent instructive video. I also have a 2007 DTS. I posted to the Cadillac Forum back in January of this year stating that my front and rear seats heat intermittently. The front also have cooling. For the past several days the front driver and passenger have not been working either heat or cool. Usually there is a slight fan sound when the seats are working, but not now. The rear seats (only heat) appear to be working. Several of the forum posts suggested to check the ground wire integrity. Usually found under the driver seat. I have been unable to find any ground wires under either seat. Did you find any? I plan to reproduce what you did in the video as soon as I buy a 50 Torx bit. They have a nice set at Harbor Freight, about 20 miles from me, for $9. I would, however, like to find the ground wire just in case it may be loose. It makes sense to me that if the heating/cooling works intermittently then a loose wire may be the culprit. What do you think? Thanks again for sharing your experience and I look forward to hearing from you. Regards, Ski Green Cove Springs, FL
Hey, Mine burnt the 14g ground wire in the connector< I ordered connector and ground pin today, 1.68 plus 4.00 postal shipping. I believe I can make the repair with the seat in the car. The module looks fine.
Got my new connector and ground pin, original retainer melted to connector, I will need to cut wires and replace all pins. any idea on how many pins I will need? I think in your video there are 2- 14g pins, are the others all 12g?
Sorry, i haven't check this in a while. there are 2- 12 gauge pins (Power and Ground)and the rest are 14 gauge. 8 total 14 gauge pins. buy some extra for mistakes. All pins are rated to 25 amps, the only difference is the size of the end where the wire needs to be soldered.
I replaced my module with a used one guaranteed. replaced connector with the ford kit, uses same connector n comes with about a foot of wiring all assembled, soldered it up. to no avail. fans do not come on. no heat no cool. took original module and added a little solder to back of board ground terminal. mine was overheated ground. tried it out. no luck. the module clicks, count to 5 n clicks again. im stuck! any help? ideas?
Dealer wanted to charge me $850.00 for both seats. said i had to replace connectors $10.00 (15326110) and module $200.00 (1523255). i did it for less then $20.00 replacing the connectors only.
THANKS ! ya did pretty damn good for a first timer!!! i guess all the other utubes you've watch showed you what NOT TO DO , not that it matters to a lot of vid producers ;)) ,,,,,, even without autofocus :P ,, nice of you to "hitch 'em up at 10:41, nothing worse than guys displaying _crack_ in their vids :p

Hey guy , my 07 DTS did the same thing. I feel good about trying the fix, after watching your awesome video! Thank you for such great detail. Jeff
Thanks, Hopefully everything goes well. Mine is still going good. Much better than paying the dealer rates.

I'll be doing this in my '07 Navigator. I've got back heat but, no butt heat on the drivers side. Thanks for sharing 👍🏼
Great Tutorial, buddy! I hate the Stealership. You're the Man! Keep the videos coming...

thank you for posting this. mine went out in escalade '08. I am going to get parts and try the same. appreciate it!
What causes this to wire to burn. How can tell if the module needs to be replaced or is that a given?
Amazing job all the way around! Really helpful! You should do this for a living! :)
Where is this same module on the drivers side? Is it a different plug?
Why would both front seat heaters be out at same time ? I checked 30 amp fuse looks good!
Does this control drivers seat as well, my DTS the passenger seat works but the drivers side doesn’t. Thanks
Kyle Ruiter same its winter and every seat warmer works but mine 😂

In the chilton library what exactly did u search for? what category?
My apologies, just had to do a bit of research. Found what I was looking for. About how long did it take you from start to finish?
Thank you!
Has anyone tried using the Lincoln mkx module? They look completely identical. Except the mkx is only a hundred bucks.

Ok.what kind of crimp tool do I need to replace all my pins?
You can go to Harbor Freight and get a crimp tool and a box of various sized end connectors very inexpensive.

anyone have the gm part numbers for the pins ?

what is a fair price to pay to have someone fix it for me?
My Cadillac guy said they charge $900.00
