    In part 6 of the official film of the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics we follow the progression of the men's Downhill Skiing event and specifically the journey of Austria's Leonhard Stock as he returns to Olympic competition after winning the event's gold medal at the 1980 Lake Placid Games.

    This film is fantastic it reminds me of my younger days skiing,Zurbriggen was my favorite skier and still is to this day

    This downhill was my all time favorite!!!!!! I remember being absolutely clued to the TV watching the Downhill!!!!!! I remember even the announcer thought it was over before Pirmin Zurbriggen left the start gate!!!!!! I had chills down my spine watching his run for the ages!!!!!!!

    It still hurts to remember Pirmin has beaten Peter at Olympic Games in Calgary... However, that's sport. All Swiss skier were amazing, thanks for the inspiration!

    The ski lifts and Nakiska were torn down and the course was never raced again! Wouldn't it be epic if it were woken back up!!

      Nakiska is still the training centre for Alpine Canada and has seen many upgrades over the years. The summit Poma lift is not open to the public anymore. It added 150m of vertical, but was incredibly exposed, as you can see in the video.

      @@nathanjanuszewski - That was my boy hood fantasy down hill idol winning in 88! Even in 88 the race was delayed because of crazy crazy weather!

      @@symphonyfarm2009 THE WEATHER AT NAKISKA CAN BE CRAZY. I was once skiing there in 80km winds
