I like when you meet up with a local and tour along with them…I think that is refreshing and takes away from the self centered stance that many RUclipsrs fall through….

You can simply give away the ice cream and ask for a tip afterwards so you technically don’t sell anything. Might safe you from trouble, especially if you don’t have a visa that allows you to work.
    Best wishes from Germany

There would be separate ice cream truck licensing and requirements for every single municipality you traveled through. 😅

I am originally from Florida, but have lived in Georgia for the past 40 years. I've been to the Netherlands many times starting in the 1970's. We are going on a cruise out of Reykjavik in Sep and will be in Amsterdam 13 Sep 2024.

Sorry I didn't get notified you were live. I really miss your videos. I've been subscribed since the start and you are so much fun! I'm from the US and way way above the age of your target demographic. I look forward to seeing Chris Take Off soon!

Hey Chris, missed this livestream, was traveling and I tend to be disconnected from most social media when I'm out and about. Was actually in NYC, really enjoyed my time there.
I am in the Toronto area, enjoy your videos.
I like the idea of traveling across the US with limited funds. Maybe a challenge where you start from the most northeastern major city (Bangor, Maine?) to the most southwestern city on the continent (San Diego, CA). Maybe even start from Saint John, New Brunswick and end up in Tijuana, Mexico.
Obviously, there would be conditions. Way, way back, ESPN had a reality competition called "Beg, Borrow and Deal" where the contestants were traveling around the US to complete tasks, with only their driver's licenses and the clothes on their backs. Might be a good show to research when looking at your travel challenge.

When you do trips like that you should break up uploading the videos until after you make it back home. That way you can upload videos weekly and break them up by 20-25 minute videos

My sister and her friend toured the U.S. many years ago by sleeping in their car, camping, and couch surfing. You could research what each state is known for and participate in various activities and eat their famous food. For instance, here in Idaho we're known for fly fishing, shooting ranges, and finger steaks!

I think if you really want to do a "through the us" series i think what would be much more interesting is to tour through the "states with the most tourists" but start at the very bottom of the list and find three interesting things in each state. When arriving near the top of the list it would need to be something that does not show up in the first 10 page of google results, or something similar to keep it interesting :)

I live in the Chicago suburbs! I have an extra bedroom and space on my driveway for whatever vehicle you decide to complete this journey in.

Regarding your ice cream truck idea (which by the way is quite cool): The licensing requirements for such vary by state in the US, but as far as I know, you would need a mobile food service license from the local health department, which is required when any type of food that requires cold storage is involved.

I like to watch RUclipsrs Chris and Carol from Jumping Places and they might have some great advice for you and would love you to come visit Utah. We had the Winter Olympics here and we have the desert Arches in Zion Park

The Ice cream truck idea is good, but each city have legal license that you would have to apply to get, but you would have to figure out how you would get the ice cream. You could travel the states by camper/van, or by greyhound bus, or Amtrak

  • @BrooklynGreg718

Ice cream truck wouldn't work I don't think. Every county that you drive through may have different laws about selling food, or specifically selling food out of food trucks. Also there's the US tax laws you'd have to worry about. Paying taxes in 15-25 different states? There's also different laws about keeping a commercial trucks on a public street overnight. What do you do with the truck while you're exploring the city?

It would be a nightmare to park an ice cream truck in several cities. Also, if you get in trouble for not having the right license for having the ice cream truck, or for not paying the right taxes for the sales you do, you could get banned from entering the US again. Moreover, doing the "no money" challenges across the US has been done too many times. It would be ideal to find an original angle.

In New York there are hefty fines for operating a food truck without a license. I would assume every city and/or state has their own regulations that you would be breaking.

Regarding your quest to travel the US I don't want to discourage you but I can visualize the difficulties getting food truck licenses through all those states. You think Ryan Trahan would give you some ideas or even collab? You are both compliments to each other - nice, kind and fun.

Planet fitness is all over the USA and maybe $10-15 month and you would be able to shower. Lots of van people join it. Also about ice cream you need permits.
Check out other RUclipsrs who go across America. Bags packed family is one- try something new is another.

If you want to come to Texas, don’t go to Austin, come to San Antonio. Austin is where we put the weird people, San Antonio is actual Texas with lots of amazing history and things to see.

Why not rent a modeled van and drive that cross country instead? It'll be way easier because you'll be able to stay on campgrounds and NOT have to worry about permits

Go backpacking around Australia & New Zealand on a budget like most young fellas do Brisbane, Sydney Melbourne then onto the North Shore around Auckland see how easy it is to get day jobs and do it over a few months or do it like I did in the late 90,s with two weeks on each place staying in hostels which in those days had crap Internet crappy un air-conditioned rooms at places like Somewhere to Stay in brisbane which had brutal showers and dorms with snorers that would keep ships away from the shire 😅

It would be more interesting if you went to lots of different places like you have been. All US no thanks, if you’re going to spend an extended time in North America then remember there are two other countries there, Canada 🇨🇦 is bigger than the US (BC is beyond beautiful) and Mexico is incredible. I’d find those adventures more interesting, you started by not doing the obvious places and there is nothing more obvious than US only “cross country”.

Do not jinx your luck by asking for forgiveness. The Americans are crazy when it comes to working on a tourist visa. They can ban you for future visits and this may affect visas for other countries you may need to apply for. I would rather plan an itinerary to stay at subscribers' homes and coach surf. Volunteer to do odd jobs for example in exchange for your stay or an experience. Be smart about how you plan your trip, but don't accept money in exchange. Clear your chat history before entering the US incase the immigration officials decide to check your phone / PC.
