I been watching Crawford here in Omaha since he was sixteen years old. This didn't just happen. Team Crawford did it the old school way. The school of hard knocks. They found out what works and what don't work. It goes all the way back to Ron Stander vs. Joe Frazier at the Civic Auditorium in Omaha and excitement that fight brought. The boxing community survived and Midge and Carl keeped the dream alive for the future. Like Bo said , " We been where you trying to go". As soon as Spence got knocked down in the second round he never recovered mentally, i’m not saying Spence ever gave up he was coming forward he was throwing big shots styles make fights and Earl Spence’s was Taylor made for Bud Crawford. Taking nothing away from Bo Mac I think he is one of the top trainers in boxing and doesn’t get the recognition he has earned. Yes, youre RIGHT! Crawford has several advantages over Spence. 1st, he is more MOBILE than Spence, but can also THROW punches while he is moving. Crawford is also an AGILE fighter, which is the skill that enables him to deploy angles and make him less hittable than Spence, whose feet have to be set to throw punches and reset - along with his hands- if he misses them. If you add speed, timing and power to the advantages Crawford has over Spence , it's not hard to see why he dominated a fight which in the minds of many "experts" was either 50/50 or some who even had Spence as a slight favorite. But genuine fight fans who follow Bud Crawford's career knew how dangerous a fighter he is , someone who is ambidextrous and can shift his weight to a punching position that usually results in a great advantage and oftentimes in a knockout against his opponent because of his outstanding counterpunch ability.
