How come this $120 Casio Edifice gem slipped through our hands?!?

  • This happens when Casio made a superb Edifice Octagonal EFR-S108D-1AV design which went off trend or under the rug, because the hype wasn't there.
And I think it is worth visiting this watch and consider it, potentially over more expensive alternatives.
    Enjoy!

I encourage you to check out the more recently released EFB-108D. It comes in a white dial (7AV) and a black dial (1AV). It is a 42mm watch that wears like a 41/42 and the bracelet is spectacular. Might be able to swap out the bracelet on it for the watch you bought. I own the white dial and I love it.

This has been my daily beater for the last 3-4 years. Wear it every day for work and it has taken everything that I’ve thrown at it. Where G-SHOCKs in the past have been bulky and in the way, I hardly notice that I’m wearing this one.
The bracelet and clasp is scratched up beyond recognition. But the dial and case, still spot on. Great watch for me considering the £80 I spent on it. Highly recommend it for anyone that works in construction that needs to get their hands in tight spaces.
    All the best

Have one, love it. It's my favorite analog quartz watch. Sapphire crystal, clean looks, decent integrated brac and... The seconds hand hits the indices! Also, amazongly, the screws outside the bezel all point in perfectly perpendicular to the dial. If Seiko tried this, those groves in the screws would all be pointing in different directions. 🤦🏼
Edit: I really like how slim and light the watch is... It really does disappear on-wrist

The Edifice line is a very good choice for those young (or not so young) people who want something that looks more solid than a simple digital Casio (which I like and wear a lot too) and don't want to spend a lot nor to deal with the mechanics. The one I used for years was a homage to Carrera. It hits the markers perfectly, better then my other quartz pieces like Timex. My Edifice and a classic G square were the only 2 watches I reallly needed and used for a very long time. Should I mention they still work fine after all these years, I just changed their batteries a few times.

Yes, Ben's Watch Club had reviewed this watch (and maybe a few non-English reviewers), but it has been really slept on. It's got the basic specs of: Japanese quartz watch in 316L, flat sapphire, 100M WR, but also the attention to detail of : date complication matches the black dial, second hand hits the second markers dead-on - and it's ~$100. It's actually the first and only sports watch I own, and I've had it for a maybe two years now.
Every time I see a video about "Is this the REAL Casio Oak???" I always have to laugh and think about how Casio Edifice already made a non-bulky, non-plastic, "moonshine" version that isn't overpriced, but no one knows...

These are fantastic design and specs for the price. I would love to see non-metal strap options as well. My main complaint about the entire edifice line might sound trivial: the logo. It has a better bracelet almost good as the PRX (just misses out on with stamped clasp but better fit compared to the butterfly clasp on the PRX) and similar dimensions to this Edifice you reviewed. The Quartz module on the Casios are just better when it come to hitting the markers. I returned two PRX quartz because of how badly the hands were off the markers and third time got a decent one but still misses markers closer to 12-3.

    I have an EFB - 108D - 7AVCR, the silvery-white dial. Now I wonder if I need this one too…

@BraveBeaters Idk how Casio got the bracelet on this one so bad especially when they nailed it on the EFB-108D-1AV. Have you seen that one yet. If they just took the bracelet from that model and put it on this one and expanded the range of dial colors the prx in quartz would be a non contender…

You have also seiko sur503p1 and sur505p1, prx replacements that costs around 100$ in Joma Shop...bracelets have lower quality than prx but they have much better price ...

Have you seen the casio edifice EFB-1080-1AVUEF ? This is an even closer resemblance to the PRX.

Brave Beaters what about the model Casio EFR-S108D-2B, do a new review, or better yet, compare them with Citizen TSUYOSA.

I actually almost bought this watch a few months ago. It punches much higher than its weight class.

Own this and a PRX too, this watch is amazing for the price, the bracelet, however, is trash, like it's made of tin foil. If someone made an aftermarket bracelet for it, it'd be one of my favourites instantly.

Had the watch for about 3 years now. Gets a lot of rotation despite a sizeable collection which also contains watches which fall in the same category. One thing which is a bit concerning is the clasp on the bracelet, the closing mechanism seems to be exhibiting a bit too much wear and is a bit shoddy lately. Other than that, excellent cheap and good looking everyday watch.

i acquired 1 of this around 2020... but eventually decide to buy the WHITE DIAL version.... of exact watch. this black gold version still looks great but i merely wanted a even more unique colour dial vs a more common gold black dial
