- Hi everyone!
In this video I'l show you how to make a wooden toy train locomotive. It's a simple woodworking project for beginners to start with. It's an easy woodworking project. The wagons will show up later! Stay tuned!
Edit: The video says 'for charity' but I decided that it takes to much time to make a train, so I'll make other toys for charity!

Another masterpiece from our woodworking queen :)
I love your CA & glue combo technique. Adopted it for my work as well... A very smart and innovative way to make quick bonds...
Haha, thank you very much! I'm glad you learned something from my video!
video is useful. Let me ask you what software to use to create the picture. Only steps are not in the mailbox vantyttkt@gmail.com
Beautifully done!
Thank you so much!
really nice. You shop looks very professional with big sturdy machines.
Well yes, I am happy with the machines I have :). Thanks Bruce!

Thank you very much!!
Well done. It's great that you're making such nice things for charity.
Thanks for the compliment :).
Gave away my 70 toys yesterday, and it's great to see the kids faces!
Super equipped shop! Great idea with the super glue to avoid clamping (not sure if it is as strong though). Choo-Choo...!
Thanks! Yes, I'm happy with my shop, but you never have enough or the right tools haha. Well yes, it's more to avoid slipping, I also clamp my pieces, but don't show that much in my videos.
Great job on this build, it looks super!! im a novice woodworker and was looking for inspiration for a train advent calender for my son and this did the trick. Im going to put the "doors" in some carriages for each day leading upto xmas
Hello, that's great! I'm happy I could be an inspiration for you!
If you want the cuttinglist you can send me an email at creatiedroom@outlook.com and send me a picture if you are done ;)
Nice locomotive, some kid will be very happy with it.
Thanks Ad! Hope so :D
I read your comment on some one channel.. That you wich to have a wooden lathe to make some bowl. And I think you got it all you don't need a lathe. You are perfect.. Really nice job.
Thank you very much! That's very kind of you to say. But I'm still wishing to have a lathe one day haha :D
nice work Jolien i wanna see the wagons:);) very cool of you to make 7o different toys for charity the world needs more of this good stuff! i bet u made some kids day with that!!👍👍
Thanks Joe!
This is already for Christmas 2017! Gave away my 70 toys yesterday, great feeling!
Thanks for the compliment! :D
I like how you used different types of wood. It looks strong and not overcomplicated. Kids will love them. You produce very good videos. ;)
Thank you very much!
Very nice. I know a young child will love your train and other wood toys.
Thanks a lot !
That's one beautiful locomotive toy!
Thanks a lot for checking out my channel Andrea!
Lovely little steam engine! Very enjoyable vid, especially liked the dowel-making bit - I'll definitely have to try that!
Thank you very much for watching Mark!
Hi! I must praise your skill and idea again. I was fascinated by the smart way of bonding. A combination of adhesives. I'll definitely try. Thank´s! ;-)

Nice work, Jolien. Looks great!
Thank you very much!
This is a really nice looking toy engine. The different woods add a neat color to it when the mineral oil is applied. I subscribed about a week ago and I look forward to watching more tutorials from you.
Thank you very much!
clever and practical.Well done
Thank you very much for checking out!
Nice video, Love your work....
You're very talented! Keep it up!!
Thank you so much! You're watching an older video, you have a lot of videos to catch up :)
@@JolienBrebels Still, ma'am. This is incredible!
Well made video! You have a really great set of tools at your disposal. Learnt some cool tricks too.
Thank you very much! Glad you learnt something from my video!
Great. Thank you.
Thanks for watching! You're welcome!
Is that a thread die used to make the dowel? Clever.
Yes indeed! It works pretty fine if you make your stick the right thickness, close enough to the diameter of the dowel!
Nice
Thank you!
Looks great! Good job!
Thanks !
muito bom abraços valeu
Thank you!
Nice video!
Thanks for watching and for your nice words!
hi Jolien, what simple cad program is best for simple toys?
For this train I used google sketch up
awesome channel. i just subscribed and liked
Oh thank you very much for your support! Thanks a lot!
New video coming up really soon!
This is my first project and it’s for my boy.
Looks awesome
I’ve realised that you mention two different wheel sizes. Am I missing some instructions as I didn’t see any specs for the actual wheels only the boiler? Guessing the height of the big wheel axel is giving me cold sweats. I don’t want my train to rock on the middle axel.
Keep up the good work
Ian
Thanks Ian.
I think I was using 2 different wheel sizes. The ones from the boiler are the same as the bigger wheels I think.
Here is my instructables about it
www.instructables.com/id/Wooden-Train-With-Wagons/
You should make a few extra base pieces so you can test-drill so it will not rock on the middle axle.
BEATIFOOLLLLLLLLLLLL
Thank you!!

Thank you very much! Glad you joined the club :)
This looks awesome! Good work 🙌 what program did you use for the sketch?
Thank you so much! I used Google Sketchup to do it
Very cute train :) What was the clear stuff you added with the glue?
Thank you very much! I use woodglue in combination with superglue!
Awesome video my friend :D
Thank you so much!
I’ve decided to make this design it looks great so far thanks to your tutorial. I now need to buy some mineral oil to finish off the project but wood oils are a minefield. Which oil do I need to buy from Bauhaus Germany?
Thank you! I don't know for Germany, I live in Belgium. I'm using mineral oil / paraffin oil
Great that’s good to know about the Paraffin oil. I put a search in about mineral oil and just got loads of hit about motor oil.
excelente
Thank you very much!
very nice toy! I just discover your channel! you are doing great job. thanks for sharing! subscribed!
Thank you very much for your support!
Thank you so much for the train, I have just made the engine for my grandsons birthday, carriages next. Could I ask what exactly is that little tool in your vice for creating dowels. I would love to get hold of one.
Oh that's fantastic! Great to hear! I'm using a threaded cussion, www.dehaye.com/special/taraudssp%C3%A9ciaux.JPG like this
WOW I want to make the Thomas and friends engines with wood. any tips?
Nice Girl, nice Work!
Thank you very much :)
What is that amazing all-in-one machine you are using? I need that in my life.
Hey, it's really awesome :D. It's a combinationmachine!
Great video. Doesn't say how wide the sidepanels are tho. Just how tall. 6cm
Thanks! I'm sorry, they are 4cm wide!
Greetings
Thanks. :)
Wauw :D Goed bezig! :D Doe zo verder! :)
Dankjewel!
Hallo waar kan ik de wagonnetjes zien hoe je die maakt? Goetjes en vrede nessi uit Duitsland
LION HEART hallo, je kan dat gewoon op mijn kanaal vinden!
Jolien Brebels ok dank je wel.
I love this train and your rail cars to go along with it. do you happen to have a pdf downloadable/ printable file of the measurements for this? I would love to make it.
Hey, I don't have it. You can see the dimensions in the video. If you really want I could make a PDF file with the measurements.
Jolien Brebels if you have the spare time I would love that. But do not worry about it if it's any trouble.
Hm okay, than I would say check the video a few times for the dimensions :D. For my future projects I will make a dimensionslist or something like that!
Hey Daniel, if you want to I can send you the cuttinglist. I've made one of the train. If I'm not too late? :)
Jolien Brebels a year later I want her this video again and came upon my comment that I had forgotten I posted. :) I’d love the cut list. I had made a wooden train for my nephew a while back and he loved it!! Such fun toys.
Hey there, you got me into a "i won t give up until I make this train for my son" state :) I am kinda new to this and don't have all the fancy machines you have. Do you think i can put it together with just a jigsaw and a drill?
Haha that's great to hear! You can definitely make it for your son without the fancy tools! It's possible to make it with only a jigsaw if you use wood with the right thickness from the beginning. And if you buy your own dowels for the axles. Just give it a try I should say! And keep me up to date :)
I will send you a picture when is done . :)
Maybe is not that important but could you tell me what thickness are the wheels?
Great! The thickness of the wheels is 1cm. Good luck!!
Hey Jolien . I managed to cut all the pieces the wright size today. :) I got stucked at the axles though.... i can't buy them because nobody sells them around where I live. So that leaves me with 2 options : 1 - I buy a vice and a tap and die set and start making them or 2 - I have in the garage some stainless steel bars 6 and 8 mm . Can I use them instead of wood? and if yes does the wood glue work fine with wood+metal combination ? Thank's for making the time to help :)
mooi
Dankjewel!
Hii
U could always just make simpler locomotives for charity
Hey, that's true :). But it requires a lot of wheels to make one kid happy if you make a train. If I make a car with just 4 wheels, I can make more kids happy.
How is this for beginners? "you only need some wood and about $6k worth of tools", bloody hell. Great build but come on, be realistic with the description.
Thanks for watching! I understand your criticism
Nice
Thank you!
