  • In this video I show you how I made a Hippo Shaped Baby rattle toy. My brand new nephew was born a month ago, and I make this little toy rattle for him to play with out of oak. I used a kid safe finish for this so he could chew on it and it is non-toxic and non-harmful. I really like the way it turned out. Enjoy!

We absolutely love when today's younger generation sees the value in making a toy for their children (or nephew) instead of buying some expensive electronic toys. Great job! Looking forward to the other animals you make.

I know this is a year old but my local Home Depot sell small hardwood labeled as "hobby wood" Ive been to 4 around my area and all carry walnut, poplar and oak, but some carry maple and birch as well. A tad pricy but for those of us struggling with small workshop we cant buy huge pieces of wood from local lumber yard due to space🥲 Hope this helps!😬
