Why did I wait till half way through my adult life to discover natural finishes! I hope your wax experience turns out as good as mine. I did 2 coats of shellac; 2nd coat dry to touch but not cured, then wax with scotch pad, dry, buff. Treating my hands to a comfy tool handle is what gets me going, but coffee and chocolate work too!
I appreciate it how you short this video was! You explained everything well and went straight to the point. I am also grateful for the amazon links. I plan to make a toy for my baby brother and he will be grateful too. Thank you!
Thank you for this video. I have a question though, If you stain or paint a wood toy with acrylics, do you have to still then seal with something? I’m not really understanding with all the research I’ve done. My goal is to stain some wood animal characters for my baby…but I want it to be safe for him to put in his mouth….I plan on mixing the acrylics with water to create more of a stain look, so do I need to seal it with something afterwards? If so , what would your recommendation be?

Oh great! Thanks for watching! Good luck! I’m sure he’ll love it!
Had no idea shellac was non toxic! My neighbours are having a kid and I want to make them a gift as a way to start learning to make toys. Thanks!
Awesome! Have fun! 😊
This is incredibly helpful, thank you so much!
So glad! Thanks for watching! 😊
I mix bees wax with olive oil. Makes a very nice finish. Enjoy your videos.
Really? Olive oil?! I will have to look into that! Didn’t know! Thanks for the watch :)
Howdy, this is off topic, but where can I find #5 modified geometry scroll saw blades? Thank you for your help!
Hey! I have the link in my video description actually! Let me know if you don’t see it! :)
If you buy wooden toys you still have to put oil or just when making them yourself?
I wouldn’t think you’d need to on toys you buy but maybe over time? 🤷🏼♀️🙂

Hi! That sounds so sweet! I wouldn’t think it a necessity, but would keep it from fading over time. Shellac is a great protective finish!
Hi I have painted wooden rainbow with acrylics. What can I seal it with to make it safe? Thanks
Fun! I’d say shellac! :)
