My first vehicle was a 2001 Vitara. It ran great for 8 years then anything with a bearing in it started failing starting with the driver-side rear wheel bearing. Eventually every pulley on the engine failed over a period of 3 years. O2 sensor replacements, radiator replacement, exhaust pipe fell off, and more. After 15 years the driver door handle literally broke off in my hand. Absolutely loved it and would buy another in a heartbeat. The nail in the coffin for me was the engine going and another wheel bearing, looking at $1,500 to get it fixed and I decided it was time to move on. I put 300,000 miles on it, a testament to doing oil changes every 3,000 miles.
My daughter has. 25 yr old one of these in Cyprus autodone 300 k and she has just changed the engine due to cracked head but she abs loves it takes off road tough as old boots. Very engaging vlog thanks. MOTs just a bloody lottery
Chops garage will get blind pete to wire brush underneath, spray 20 quids of wax oil underneath then get the" boys " at moores to stick advisory free mot on it....then have it rotting in his yard for a year😅
Loved this one Joe and I'd take a punt on selling it if Dan the welder can do the work needed at a reasonable price. The rest of it is more like normal wear and tear on a 140k miles car. It's not an oil leak, the engine is just sweating a bit, not knowing whether you are going to kill her or not!
Redex works well. Have you not see the "Fifth Gear episode" where Jason Plato does the dyno runs with and without it. The car gained 9bhp back on a 140bhp VW
Loved that vid. Hope you fix it Joe looks like it has a few years still left in it once welded. Be nice to see a follow up in a weekly saying if it sold or whatever.
Change your MOT testing station they are OTT. Your mechanic should have had a better look before it went off for the test and it could have had a quick tidy up and passed first time.
I wonder if vehicles like this that won't pass an MOT could be exported to some place in Africa where no MOT, have cheap labor and cheap vehicles are needed.
Looks like a perfect Scumrun car Joe. Use it to raise money for charity in a banger car rally then scrap it at the end. I raised £8000 for Together for short lives doing that in a £500 BMW. I see this onedecorated up as one of the Jurassic Park 4X4's 😊
I would try and just trade it on for £500 make a £100 profit,I think you definitely need to change your mot testing garage as definitely ott on some things, let us know what the outcome will be on this one please,oh forgot to say just ignore the bellends in the comments as these videos are interesting👍
That Vitara is finished, you can't sell that for 2k even with an MOT because the rust will be even worse next year when the new owners would then have to scrap it.
I think before slagging redex off maybe do a history check on the stuff and understand it's development and what it was used for... Plus there is plenty of evidence out there on redex and how good it is...
@@ShiftingMetal shows how small minded you are ... And the lag of understanding you have within the engine department and history of the product, but that didn't surprise me after you started slagging redex off. Why would you send a car for a mot without checking easy parts first Like the lights and brake pads I always take a inspection light when I go and buy any car but I suppose that's cos am in trade lol I wouldn't be buying that for a day to day vehicle it's only good for the off road scene
@@ShiftingMetal Brake pads and bulbs arnt dear and not hard to fit and it just looks better on the failed sheet and makes the failed sheet not a massive list that's how I see it and with the failed sheet been a massive list I always check it on all cars and I see a big list of basic stuff just means it's not been looked after so Id pass on that vehicle but everyone is different
Why pay £400 if he assumed it was going to the scrap yard? Anyone trading in an old car knows what's wrong with it, the deal would likely have gone ahead anyway if your salesman had offered £100 on the grounds it was scrap and it'd save them the effort.
See what it's worth scrap you may just get what you give for it px not sure it's worth time and resources Joe you have enough down at the farm me either scrap it or sell as is for £600 and get some treat money out of it lol

Its ok ill have it..i welded a floorpan made from an old oil drum in my seicento.

Tyres are probably worth more than the car.
Ideal for off road adventure episode 2 😊

No I haven’t, I just know a lot of people think it’s some kind of elixir that will fix misfires or engine issues!
Can I just say that I bought a car from these guys, the customer service is absolutely fantastic, they go far and above to keep the customer happy 👍👍👌

Great, thanks!
Mate love it nice to see hats of to ya
Well done for trying to save the vitara looks like it just needs a wire wheel 👍👍
Joe don't waste your money scrap it. , everything is about to fail get rid 👍
Yes, it's a no brainer, you'd have to strip all the parts off (which are well rusted on) to weld it and things will snowball.

Haha the redex comment had me howling because i was just looking at some thinking is it worth buying and tipping into my old banger 😂
😂 judging by all the comments, people seem to think so
