Wasn't expecting Attenborosaurus with Styxosaurus to look so well but they do fit together. Very creative choice. I've always had my imagination even as I'm getting older so I don't mind pretending certain creatures are male or female.
I ... Can't believe some told you that your ideas have too much imagination. What a limiting way to look at the game and life in general. That's what makes your builds so spectacular!
Seeing as they have male crests, I also use both the JP3 2001 Pteranodon & Geosternbergia to act as the males to the female JW Pteranodons. I also do the same with the Pachycephalosaurus & Stygimoloch, with the addition of the Dracorex as their babies, which may not be far off from reality.
Well, both Stygimoloch and Dracorex were breeding and juvenile Pachycephalosaurus, respectively. So technically they're having sex with the younger -🤓☝️
You can use female pteranodons as female geosternbergia since they were so closely related. Iguanodon variant is so slim that it can be also used as a mantellisaurus. Great video.
Personally, for the raptors, I think that a combination of the 1997A skin for the make with the 1993 skin for the female goes really well together. Mainly because, if I remember correctly, that's actually the canon explanation for their altered appearance in TLW.
Its hard if not impossible to have a male and female trex without just going to the Buck and Doe from TLW Just wish they gave the Buck the more pronounced eye ridges and his turkey neck. They just look so perfect together. Same with the TLW tiger stripe velociraptors. But trying to give the males or females a slightly different build works great too.
I love all of these ideas and great video as always! I sometimes like to imagine that the female raptors (or atrociraptors) do not really need feathers, but the males use it to attract the females. For this, I put pyroraptors with the raptors, and it kinda looks like sexual dimorphism. It does work better in warmer maps because the feathers look less for warmth.
I’ve always reserved the patterns for males, but I’ve never thought to use different species. Although Geosternbergia as an adult male Pteranodon works well.
Just to help, I found a rlly rlly good combo. It’s for carcharodontosaurus. Give the male Mangrove Forest with blank pattern and give the female Svalbard with blank pattern. You will not regret it at all I swear
i've tried a fair bit of stuff like this for an attempted Novel Canon park, particularly finding skins which resemble each other but are distinct enough for the ones that are supposed to be breeding in the novel. one of the more creative options otherwise was to use gallimimus and struthiomimus with similar orange skins with the gallis getting a purple accent (which was my memory of how they looked in the TLW arcade game) and using all the different pachycephalosaurs with similar skins to not only represent sexual dimorphism but also different age groups
I love the idea of using the variants for male/female combos! I admit, I'd be the simple one who does the pattern changes method at the start, with females being more brown and no color, but I love seeing the different ideas! And the various ones are definitely an idea if I wanna do something different in my park!
I'm going to be keeping a close eye on my socials on March 7th on the Jurassic World Evolution pages to see if Detective Evo was right in her estimations. I reckon this next pack will be the Mantah Corp one (instead of Camp Cretaceous # 2 pack) and for the 30th anniversary for the first film in July I reckon it will be the novel expansion but if not I'm curious to discover what. I love a good chunky free update as well that is actually useful, can't tell you how rarely I use the postcard feature on it :)
I‘ve literally built an enclosure for Allosaurus they day before yesterday, where I used the 2022 skin as a male individual that had its own enclosure for when mating season is around the corner
When i didn’t know of this idea, i just kept female-looking dinosaurs and pretended they were asexual-reproducing reptiles like a few today (the new mexico wiptail lizard) and could be another reason why they all looked so similar. I definitely like your concept too! Could really suit the bird-like dinos with their strong sexual dimorphism in the modern day! :0
i love how you made the males often more vibrant as it's similar to birds in nature as their dimorphism often reflects the males having to woo the females, and how birds see different to us so to them it'd be almost glowing to them, great work! 5:23 bruh
I do my best to try to figure out and imagine which skin combinations (other then the ones from a movie) would work best for male and female dimorphism. If I have to choose, I would go with Dyrosaurus. They have some good color combinations to help give you an imagination on Sexual dimorphism.
I really think all dinosaurs in the game have sufficient color options to simulate sexual dimorphism, which is one of the many ways in which this skin system in spite of it's remaining limitations, is such a huge step up from JWE1
Evo I'm baffled how you always get new ideas for your content. It's just amazing! For me you're always be number one youtuber making videos about dinosaur games. Love you're videos
The Geosternbergia and 2001 Pteranodon could work well together, since they look very similarly, you could make the Geo as the male, and the Petra as a female
This is one of my favorite things to do before stocking enclosures or a reserve build. Love the whole idea of the sexual dimorphism in with the different models and skins and I really wished they’d release a infant and juvenile models for every Dino, that would be a worth the 20$ for an update 😮💨
@@EvolutionSquare in JWE1 I would combine JP & JW variants with triceratops, stegosaurus, brachiosaurus, ankylosaurus, parasaurolophus and tyrannosaurus (whichever was more robust was male and whichever more gracile was female) and try get the skins to match but with the males brighter - just like you were saying.
This was a great video, thanks Evo! I truly hope they add the actual Male Nasuto from Battle at Big Rock as well. Look it up, the differences are legit, and it looks badass!
1:50 The brachios on jp3 are all males, the red one is just the alpha. Same with females (jp and jwfk) that are all grey-brown but the alpha one has a green texture on the head.
I like to imagine that some species have greater differences between males and females and other species do not. For Stegosaurus for example, I use the 1997 variant as females and the standard as males, just with differences in the skin (the male is more scaly). If you don't like using just Buck and Doe, you can play with their skins, Buck and Rexy, the 2001 variant with Doe, 2001 and Rexy... You can even have a show with just females or males! (since in my opinion, doing this for all dinosaurs is a bit polluted, even more if you add baby dinosaurs too) Out of curiosity: I used Buck and 2001's skin as if they were a couple, inspired by some penguins, this gives variety to your attractions! (Sorry for the long text!)
With the variants, I just like to associate them with different species of the entire Genus. Like the Allosaurus, the OG skin being A. Jimmadensi and Dom. Allo being A. Fragilis. Obviously some dinos like the Giga only has one species and since the Dominion one looks ridiculous and put in the wrong time and continent, it’s could be something made up like G. Rex. For anyone wondering how all this works. In this day in age, animals like Lions and Tigers are different species, but fall under the same Genus; Panthera, so Panthera Leo and Panthera Tigris. So calling a species just ALLOSAURUS, would be like calling a lion or tiger, just a Panthera
The Dinosaurs really look even more awesome in a pair! I like that you paid attention to the details, so its clear that this dinosaur is a male and the other dinosaur is a Female. You do creative Content, so please keep it up!
There was an article here in Brazil saying that the maaradactilo and the tropeognathus would be the same species, but it was not taken seriously as far as I know.
Thanks for the tips they're very helpful could u make a tip video on how to build paths going down or around a hill and adding decorations too it without it changing the level of it. I see it in ur parks all the time with like the path wraps around the hills and goes down well when I try it always ends badly. Thank you.
Based purely on this amazing idea, props to Evo, there should definitely be social animations for cross species dinos. I would love to see a stego happily rubbing against a para or homolo playing with a galli or something
I love this video thanks for all the ideas. I have to say though as a reptile and amphibians keeper that the females while being bland are also the larger and bulkier of the two. Males are usually more colorful but much smaller as well.
@@Shqiponjëland So one question is a female alligator crocodile, or frog bigger than males because i watch enough animal planet to know that they are not and they are reptiles
Not in the video, but Homalocepholale has really good skin bases for sexual differentiation. I usually use Sonoran Desert skin and Chalcorana patterns for Females, and for Males, I use the Yukon River skin with Lithobate patterning.
Maybe next you could do a video on what dinosaurs look like dinosaurs that are not in game using the variants. (example would be the normal giga being mapusaurus)
i usually use skins with faded colors for females and stronger colors for males but usually similar colors so they look like real animals with real sexual dimorphism but still different enough for me to have skins i like
@evolution square on a mission to create a proper male and female dinosaurs After this we will have full generation of Dino's 1) the eggs in the nest 2) the baby Dino's 3) and now the parents 🔥 Worth giving a shot
I actually like a lot of these. Interesting that you went with males being larger. I know canonically the female Rex is larger, and I believe that is scientifically accurate according the fossil record. Many female birds of prey are also larger than their male partners. An interesting take on the matriarchal velociraptor packs for instance subbing the Atrociraptor in as female versus male. With comfort turned off did you still experience panicking? I’m pretty sure my Spinosaurus scare my Suchomimus.
Actually one of the directors of Jurassic world said that if they made a male in dominus rex then it would be more aggressive, have venom in it's fangs, look more intimidating, bigger, stronger, and it would be able to hunt down any dinosaur it wants
I feel like the feathered rex makes a pretty good male to any of the other rex skins. Kind of like how male lions have big, fluffy manes, but the females are relatively boring in comparison.
You mentioning default giga as mapu and 2022 iguanodon as mantellidaurus reminded me of variant species. This video idea might be a bit too short but i like using variants as different species of the same dinosaur genus or a different closely related genus. A zoo has panthera leo and panthera tigris, so our park could include allosaurus jimmadseni (default) and allosaurus maximus(2022). One of my favorites is default brachi as a giraffatitan and 2001 brachi as brachiosaurus. 2001 velo as an oversized velociraptor mongoliensis and 1993 velo as velociraptor antirropus (deinonychus). Either ouranosaurus variant could be Morelladon, JW Triceratops as T. Horridus and JP as T. Prorsus. The list goes on, but those are the major ones off the top of my head.
I personally find ankylosaurs work very well with sexual dimorphism. I like to use default Anky as female whilst I use jp3 for male because of the red face (simply because of in universe lore I may also use bumpy as a female, just a singular one though) I also love nodosaurus and sauropelta as female and male respectively. And you can use both as not what they seem. Instead of nodosaurus or sauropelta, you could use a reddish skin to pretend they are both borealopelta! And you know that when we get microceratus I’m using it as a baby trike
When I was my 10 year old self with the first jurassic world evolution, I used the old Drednoughtus model as the male variant for the mamenchisaurus. I was discovering sexual dimorphism in scientific lot accurate dinosaurs so I thought a bigger nose would be for display for the male memanchisaurs (Drednoughtus).
“Don’t blame me blame Disney” got me rolling on the floor Also I think baryonox sorry if I’m spelling it wrong but I think baryonox and spino will probably be a good match Edit: It also probably be good adult and juvenile
This is in context with this video and the baby dino video. And I know this isn't like 100% gonna happen cause its Frontier, but if I was in charge the 30th anniversary for JP DLC/Update this would be when I release a huge update to the game introducing breeding mechanics and babies and sexual dimorphism for some species along with nesting etc. A core element of Jurassic Park was "Life Finds a Way" and we see that in JP the dinosaurs figured out how to reproduce and adapt. I know its not gonna happen but this is what I would do to bring life into the game again, just to have something big for this anniversary of a beloved film. Also Frontier: "no sexual dimorphism or baby dinos sort not sorry!" Evo: "fine ill do it myself"
Nice job EVO honestly I use my imagination for some of the dinos like I can use proceratosaurus as guanlong for when I want to do a Jurassic China habitats
The weurhosaurus one might not be far off, I'm not sure if it's still a valid theory or not, but science did say that female stegosaurs had rounded plates for a while
I often use the feathered rex as a male (some have speculated that if any feathers were retained in adult rexes that males could have done so to use as a status display) and use a more plain color for the female to match
The 2022 Allosaurus and Scarred Carnotaurus are supposed to be females. This still work in the sexual dimorphism take, as in some species, it's the females to be larger and more aggressive than the males.
The only downside to pairing the JP3 velociraptors with any other raptors is the pupil shape is different. JP3 raptors have dot pupils (which I think look a lot better), all the others have slit pupils.
For my parks, I don't use variants. I usually use dull colours for females and flashy colours for males (In my head, the flashy colours are for males to attempt to attract females.)
One thing I do with the Edmontosaurus is that I will give the male a secondary skin(mostly the default secondary) and remove the secondary for the females. Yes, they look plain and muted, but it works. I also make sure the males have a shorter lifespan than the females for some reason, since it's not uncommon even in today's wildlife and just for the fun of it, I throw in a plain, white one. Idk why.
Hey Evo for Mosa you could have Mosasaurus as the male and Tylosaurus as the female. It's a bit of a stretch but it could work. Also these last 2 videos of yours have been 2 of my favorite
The 2022 iguanodon is Mantellisaurus for me in my head cannon (because The Skeleton Crew on RUclips said it looked more like Mantellisaurus, and they're paleontologists, so...)

4:09 I like this idea, because it reminds me of animals like elephant seals, where the males are larger then females
True, but with certain birds (hummingbird, emu, cassowary, kiwi, most birds of prey) the female is larger and/or heavier.
@@ggrarl you have a point
@@christhe2dprotogen511 Dinosaurs are related to other birds expect for birds of prey which is why the males are bigger
This is so good! im def gonna use many of these when I get the game!!!
i usually use skins with faded colors for females and stronger colors for males but usually similar colors so they look like real animals with real sexual dimorphism but still different enough for me to have skins i like
For a trex family I use the actual adult trex, for a juvenile I use qianzhousaurus, and for the babies I use moros intrepidus
You can use Geosternbergia (hope i said it right) instead of the 2001 pteranodon, it even has a more colourful crest!
I have another idea: barbaridactylus as a male, 2001 or any other pteranodon as a female
I love it when a female allosaurus meets her boyfriend and they finally have children and they become a harmonious family
@evolution square on a mission to create a proper male and female dinosaurs
After this we will have full generation of Dino's
1) the eggs in the nest
2) the baby Dino's
3) and now the parents
🔥 Worth giving a shot
I actually like a lot of these. Interesting that you went with males being larger. I know canonically the female Rex is larger, and I believe that is scientifically accurate according the fossil record. Many female birds of prey are also larger than their male partners. An interesting take on the matriarchal velociraptor packs for instance subbing the Atrociraptor in as female versus male. With comfort turned off did you still experience panicking? I’m pretty sure my Spinosaurus scare my Suchomimus.
Actually the Biggest Trex Specimen that’s been Found is Presumably a Male. So We don’t Really Know if they were Sexually Dimorphic.
The “sExAy” caught me off guard 😂😂😂😂
The JP3 male raptor is always my favourite raptor
Prorsus. The list goes on, but those are the major ones off the top of my head.
yes! somone finally reffers to "saurophaganax" as allosaurus!
You could do tarbosaurus and trex
Pyroraptor and utahraptor
For a baby
Trex Same as vid
Pyroraptor = Moros intrepid or sinosiroptyrex
Oh I like the idea of using variants as different genders I usually just do skins or in the case of the para use the jwd skins. Great video!
I personally find ankylosaurs work very well with sexual dimorphism.
I like to use default Anky as female whilst I use jp3 for male because of the red face (simply because of in universe lore I may also use bumpy as a female, just a singular one though)
I also love nodosaurus and sauropelta as female and male respectively.
I watched your baby one and had to watch this one too!!! I have big plans for my next park now!!! Thank you sooooo much for the inspiration!!!!!
Some of my favourite things to make in the game are packs/herds they make such a good exhibit and look so natural!
“Don’t blame me blame Disney” got me rolling on the floor
Also I think baryonox sorry if I’m spelling it wrong but I think baryonox and spino will probably be a good match
Edit: It also probably be good adult and juvenile
Also
Frontier: "no sexual dimorphism or baby dinos sort not sorry!"
Evo: "fine ill do it myself"
Great video!
Thanks!
With the juvenile allo and adult felt like something…..💀
Nice job EVO honestly I use my imagination for some of the dinos like I can use proceratosaurus as guanlong for when I want to do a Jurassic China habitats
in JWE1 there was a 2001 female brachiosaurus, I dont know why they didn’t bring that over
The weurhosaurus one might not be far off, I'm not sure if it's still a valid theory or not, but science did say that female stegosaurs had rounded plates for a while
Australovenator looks so good with or without the pattern.
I often use the feathered rex as a male (some have speculated that if any feathers were retained in adult rexes that males could have done so to use as a status display) and use a more plain color for the female to match
The 2022 Allosaurus and Scarred Carnotaurus are supposed to be females.
This still work in the sexual dimorphism take, as in some species, it's the females to be larger and more aggressive than the males.
most of the dinosaurs in this video are "supposed to be females" tho haha but since it's never made explicit we are free to pretend
No, the Both are Males and the Males T-Rex are more aggressive than the Females
Suchomimus could've been paired with a baryonyx
Good point
The only downside to pairing the JP3 velociraptors with any other raptors is the pupil shape is different. JP3 raptors have dot pupils (which I think look a lot better), all the others have slit pupils.
Are you going to give us a tour of the theme park with your favorite dinosaurs when you have time
yes! but it's gonna take at least another week because there is still a lot of work to be done on that park before it's ready :)
For my parks, I don't use variants. I usually use dull colours for females and flashy colours for males (In my head, the flashy colours are for males to attempt to attract females.)
i likw these, that means alodar has to get with granny lips lol
oh no hahahaha
One thing I do with the Edmontosaurus is that I will give the male a secondary skin(mostly the default secondary) and remove the secondary for the females. Yes, they look plain and muted, but it works. I also make sure the males have a shorter lifespan than the females for some reason, since it's not uncommon even in today's wildlife and just for the fun of it, I throw in a plain, white one. Idk why.
hi evolution square:D im big fan of you:> i subcribed ur youtube channel and thumbs up
Hey Evo for Mosa you could have Mosasaurus as the male and Tylosaurus as the female. It's a bit of a stretch but it could work. Also these last 2 videos of yours have been 2 of my favorite
glad you liked the videos!
Thx for the tips, btw I like the idea of JP3 and JW pterodactyl’s are great
Proceratosaurus and coelophysis
Monolophosaurus sitting in the corner
Yo this has actually made the game way more interesting.. having male and female counterparts.
I had a picture on discord with a mono and a procerant had the same skin but the mono had more color to atract the female(procerant)
This is great, i’ll definitey use these in my next park
The 2022 iguanodon is Mantellisaurus for me in my head cannon (because The Skeleton Crew on RUclips said it looked more like Mantellisaurus, and they're paleontologists, so...)
I love your choices I will be using these in my furtive Jurassic world evolution 2
My favourite would have to be the pteranodons.. you can really tell the difference and the two skins look really cool together
What would you do for a male suchomimus and a female
Combinig JP with JW variants is also a good idea, like Triceratops and Stegosaurus
Pachycephalosaurus with Stygimoloch or Dracorex too
I personally like to put the Make JP3 Raptors with the darker tones of the 93 Raptors
I didn't play the game for a while but this video makes me wanna play it right now
thanks for the ideas
Evo really found me a reason to use the JW Pteranodon 💀 never thought I’d see the day.
