  • The Vedder Quick Draw OWB is a hybrid leather and kydex outside the waistband holster. It rides high and tight to the body for good concealment even without heavy garment cover. And being outside the waistband, it's very comfortable to carry, especially with its full leather backing.
The kydex comes in 15 colors and you can pick one up at www.vedderholsters.com for an MSRP of $54.99.

I got mine this morning for my Sig Sauer SP 2022 and this holster is exceptional and I do get a “click” when I holster my gun. The leather is very high quality. This one is a keeper!

I purchased one but returned it right away. Cheaply made, over priced and no contour at all making it impractical for OWB carry

I would not recommend this - If a police officer requires a level 2 or a level 3 retention then the ordinary citizen should be using a level 3 retention holster.

John Doe I mean is the ordinary citizen targeted for their weapon when its unknown if they even have one due to being concealed?

@@Schnozwangler criminals these days are quite adept at detecting weapons- particularly if you're dealing with a set of circumstances that may not initially call for deadly force such as an ordinary assault. If someone "feels" the gun they're naturally going to go for a gun grab. It's human instinct.

@@Schnozwangler I see your point but it makes an assumption that you shouldn't make. Assumptions get you killed.

@@tacticalbt1023 Police officers must pass physical training standards as well as extensive gun training to carry a firearm which ordinary citizens do not, such that a police officer has specific training to retain the firearm apart from the features of a retention holster that tje ordinary citizen does not have such that the probability of a police officer sucessfully retaining a firearm in a level 1 holster is greater than the probability of a lesser trained citizen sucessfully retaining a firearm in a level 1 holster, all other things equal. Such that because orinary citizens have less retention training apart fron the features of the holster they must rely on the retention features of the holster itself to an increased degree. Also, we know that speed drawing is a bad technique such that basic weapons indoctrination states that we avoid speed drawing. We have the weapon out of the holster, on target, with the finger off the trigger once a sufficient threat is identified, and then fire once there is a need to eliminate the threat.
Your odds in general of speed drawing from a level one, coming on target, and discharging a round only after percieving the need to eliminate a threat statistically go against you because it takes a police officer on average four to six seconds to discharge a weapon on target in a speed draw situation, under stress and an ordinary citizen doesnt have any of that extra training or practice, such that a police officers slow side is likely the ordinary citizens fast side, by law of average.
Plus there exists the legal duty of an ordinary citizen to retain positive control of the weapon at all times such that a gun takeaway situation for the ordinary citizen is negligence per se and represents potential civil liabity for wrongful death, etc. Where police most often dont face that liability by reason of qualified immunity because police must deal with things ordinary citizens have discretion not to.
Also, ordinary citizens are not as strictly beholden to continumm of force by reason of the reasonable person standard vs. The reasonable officer standard. e.g. ordinary citizens arent subject to Graham v. Connor such thar the threshold of reasonable judgment is less for the ordinary citizen such that the weapon comes out earlier as a reasonable threat of force to avoid the need of actual force because a reasonable person does not operate above and beyond their own training which is essentailly no mandated training whatsoever apart from how not to have accidental discharges and basic device safety which teaches nothing about retention, applied judgment scenerios, etc. This is really where we need to impose higher training standards in order to be permitted to carry in public, such that civillians and law enforcement then approach weapons from the same core indoctrinations.
