I just finished my long cross-country, and the last leg was probably the bumpiest ride I’ve ever had. Wish I had seen this first!

Just so everyone reading this knows, the altitude with the least occurrence of turbulence is 8,000 ft. Try that first.

My buddies and I refer to this as "Bump Tolerance". In the beginning your bump tolerance is VERY low, and the more you fly the more you get used to it. Your bump tolerance WILL get a lot better the more you fly. If you take a break from flying your bump tolerance will go down, but never really all the way back to the beginning. It's just something you get used to, so don't let it bother you.

What if you have to do pattern work in the heat of the Mojave dessert in moderate to occasional severe turbulence, I just can’t get used to it. At altitude I’m fine, but so low to the ground it just puts me on edge and my airspeed is just dancing all over.
