I fell in love with Stomatella snails, they're so small, easy to breed and get to places not even the small Trochus, turbo or Astraea snails can clean.
Greatly appreciated this video. I've started having a horrible ?algae? bloom and the exact pattern you described is happening in my tank. In doing research, Astraea snails were highly recommended. I've added ten of them to see if they have any effect on the problem. The last thing I wanted to do was add a ton of one kind of CUC only to have them be ineffective and just die and contribute to an already overwhelmed bio-load. As you said they are really beginning to make a difference and I'll be adding some more A.S.A.P.. Here's to keeping my fingers crossed and having a healthy tank again.
I've never had any luck with astreas, they did fairly quick. I've had 3 bumble bees in my tank for 2 years. I'm on my 2nd trio of turbo snails, they are like shop vacs on the glass.
Totally stupid, unrelated question here, but where do you get your frag racks. I noticed what looked like injection molded frag racks in the video and can't seem to find them online. I like the fact that they are fairly solid and provide a better surface for CUC access to the frag plugs.., not to mention less area for algae to grow.
+Dave Davis They are made custom for me. We used to use egg crate back in the day for everything because that's all we could really afford for the systems of our size. Once we could upgrade, we had these made for us. They are much much nicer but acrylic is quite a lot more expensive.
Thank you. Have you ever thought about offering them on your other site. I think other reefers might find them functional as well as aesthetically pleasing.., just a thought. :)
nice!♡ can you make a Video About blennys midas or something else? yesterday i bought one midas and he change his color into gray and he is scary of us:/
Tidal Gardens Inc. That's what I'm going through now. Thick to almost sponge-like mossy stuff growing on a frag of radioactive zoas in between all the polyps. It sucks.

Just went out and got some. Thanks for the info.
Great video. Thanks for sharing!

justonemorecast, bumblebee snails eat astreas if they get hungry.
Post might be 5 years old but have you learnt to spell yet??
very good advise!
Mine tend to avoid the gravel substrate in the tank. They stay on the rocks.
Brs week 23 wow! what a coincidence :D

Great info
+ReeferGil Why you posting comments but no videos?
No vids equals no comments? Lol.
+ReeferGil your fans miss you. An update would be nice. Let us know how your tank is doing. I swear I won't comment. :)
Lol, I just purchased a new camera and I'm looking forward to trying it. I'm still very much alive. Thanks for the love.
Waiting for some videos!
Those are trocus snails the big pyramid looking ones

Awesome video! I've been looking for a snail species for algae control. These guys sound perfect! Are they good for eating algae off the sand, too?
+Josh's Aquatics & Railroad Videos I've noticed they tend to stay off the sand and hang out on the glass and rock much more.
Tidal Gardens Inc. Alright, thanks for the info!
My Astrea snails go on the sand. I'd there's algae they'll find it.
@@t.regnerus301 learn to spell you mong
I have no crabs either in my tank, just all snails. How many of these astraea snails do you recommend ?
Is it ok to dip these snails and red leg hermit crabs in coral rx?
I got one single lawnmower blenny and my lost cause of a tank was fixed In 8 hours.......problem is that he won't eat anything else so...
How many would you recomend for a 90 gal tank?
Any good experiences with margarita
For some reason i cant keep any snail any advice
Have you tried algae scrubbing?
Than - Did you have bryopsis that they cleaned up, or another type of algae?
+Mark Saake No, it was not Bryopsis, more of an annoying thick moss.

only issue is they sometimes scratch tank walls.................
Do they have venom
is this the same as trochus snail ?
No they are different.
@@tidalgardensbamn, i can't find this one anywhere in my country , i looked at all the online stores . I while ask my LFS .
gah, i wish you would've named what type of algae these snails consumed.
All algae especially hair algae
I just read an article and it was like the same thing lol
Any experience with trochus snails??
+oceanslide I like them a lot, especially their ability to flip themselves over.
I think mine are breeding.
#crablivesmatter
Wrong about the crabs! They are excellent scavengers! And very reef safe.
