    For anyone asking: you can also export it as a sprite/object for Unity/Blender.

      @@PirateFoxBox, Unfortunately, it will not be out-of-the-box, you will have to create a shader, otherwise, the edges will look smooth like any other 3D model.

      What i see this CAD, looks like the size for miniature models. I wish for a bigger land size.

    What the heck, that's so cool!!! PicoCAD looks like an absolute gem, I love every bit about its philosophy. The whole interface just seems so playful; yet it has many of the tools and conventions you'd find in a familiar workspace like Blender for simple 3D modelling and UV mapping! 🤩
    That was a really fun vid, I enjoyed the change in pace while keeping things square 😁 Seeing your techniques has got me wondering too, have you dabbled into 3D stuff at some point?

      Yeah! I had only heard of the pico8 console being used for game development, so it's impressive to see it used to generate a unique functional software like this. I've never really done 3D stuff before so I kept it simple on this one, but I'm excited to now try something more ambitious :D

      @@CKTDanny Yeah I've seen them recently working to add physics functions to picoCAD - verlets - having mesh respond like nets and applying gravity to them etc 😱

    I love low poly 3d object art, it's great that so many people are working on free programs for the public that even though simple can achieve so much more if pushed to their limits

      I mean, I think it could save space (probably it won't), but I think some people would be dissappointed if they can't do more than the limits.

    this is actually one of the coolest programs ive ever seen. No longer need to understand complex 3D modeling softwares for simple assets. Can you piece together multiple shapes though?

    I recently came across an image of a 3D spaceship with a low-res texture. I thought it looked really cool. Made me want to use that pixelated and simple 3D style for a game. This tool looks really fun to try out that style.

    I did some light programming in Pico-8 years ago so I already knew about that, but I had no idea Pico-CAD existed.
    I always wanted to create these low poly models and this will finally push me over the edge. What a great little program.
    Also, the video is sublime as usual and has the exact right amount of depth. Keep up the good work! :)

    Pro tip :
    In the mode where there is the wireframe and where you can model, you can actually press space with the cursor on the preview window to put it full screen, and with that done you can export it as a gif without all the tools shown... I struggled so much to find this feature...

    I'm not a game maker (though I would love to be) but the tech that went into building this could be used directly in a game engine to simply load in the 3d assets with the pixelart that should go on top, for a pixelart game with a fully rotatable camera. Very cool!
