Tesla Cybertruck 2025 review: Is this divisive electric truck actually brilliant or just plain mad?

- The 2025 Tesla Cybertruck has divided opinion like few models before it. Of course, the new fully electric vehicle is the American EV specialist's first take on a dual-cab pick-up truck, one that has been shrouded in controversy since it was revealed as a prototype in late 2019.
Fast forward four years and the Cybertruck finally entered production, overcoming several major design and technology challenges to do so, with the end result being a wedge-shaped vehicle that, rightly or wrongly, will forever be remembered. So, has it been worth the long, long wait?
In this expert review, CarsGuide Contributing Journalist Stephen Corby travels to the United States to get behind the wheel of the Cybertruck for the first time to answer that very question. As he discovers, the new Tesla model is brilliant amongst its madness, but that certainly doesn't mean it's for everyone.

The internet is a funny place. Online, there's like a 50/50 split of haters and lovers of the vehicle. I've had mine for a week now and I would say the in person response and reactions are 98% positive. I'm not a truck guy so I understand the qualms truck people have about it's truck functionality but just as a vehicle, it drives really nice and attracts more attention and adulation than I've ever seen any vehicle get. The younger generation absolutely lose their minds over seeing it. Overall it's been a remarkable week of ownership.
It is an epic vehicle and anyone hating on it just means they don't understand it... of course you can like or dislike the looks but the whole package is truly unique from 48v to steer by wire to everything else.
I can’t say that I love it, but I can say that I like it about 800% more than I thought I would. 🤔
Wow! Over 2 Million reservations. It's already sold out for the next two years. People must love this futuristic truck packed with insane never new technology.
Thanks Tesla for having the courage for doing something new and improved.
GIVE THE MAN A COFFEE
Good vid
That was a very good review, I had jumped to conclusion that you would have hated it but No, I think you really did like it!
The CyberTruck has really grown on me after and now I want one…I think that’s been the general reaction from most viewers, you
Included. Give it time and you’ll
want to buy one if you can afford one :-)
Doubt it will be legal in Australia.
This review was way to nice to the car, no comment about the recall of every one for example - unsubbed, been a subscriber for years. Uncritically covering stupidities being able to subscribe to twitter from the car, saying took car offroad but driving on level sand, talking about towing another tesla without remarking how it effectively wont be able to with the battery it has for any distance and comments like 'the car is so big no computer in the world can work out how to drive it' this video is an embarrassment to car journalism.

recall of every one to perform a repair that literally takes less than a minute. on any new vehicle that is so different from everything else there are going to be failure modes that only show up when there are thousands or millions on the road.Toyota had trouble with their wheels falling off on their first fully electric car the BZ-4. the tesla recall was because the go pedal cover could slide up and make the accelerator stick. This is legitimately dangerous , but unlike every gas car on the market hitting the brake disables the accelerator pedal and will stop the car.
@@jamessmith-yk3sc not sure what the point you are making is? Its a very dangerous problem that should have been identified in testing
@@francistaylor1822😂 are you a bot? That almost resembled a human commenting but a little off 😂
@@francistaylor1822it wasn’t a very dangerous, the safety features on the vehicle wouldn’t allow it to be dangerous.
Thanks
If it is expensive, sales will be low
“A lot of it doesn’t make sense”. ….?
Sorry... No. It's just too weird & ugly and those stainless steel panels would be a nightmare to keep clean! Why would anyone buy this???

I think about how easy they will scratch.
CYBERURINAL…
This thing is well on the way to becoming an embarrassing lemon of epic proportions. And my god it’s ugly

Dumb, like all proud Tesla trolls that think they're hip for saving the world, and world champions for their traffic light sprints
Remember people, you are buying a vehicle, not a computer. Computers are lucky to last 5 years before an upgrade. I certainly expect my vehicle to last longer than that.
This is because of consumerism. Computers can last forever too if well maintained.
@@supersingular Computers could last forever, but how efficient will it be? will the software still be supprted?
@@zabylurt Most softwares can reach a point where they don’t need to be supported, they’re called feature-complete, some other people call them mature. But the companies don’t want us to stop upgrading and updating, so they keep adding features, most of which are not really that important. They have better graphics, in many cases empty upgrades that require more computing power but the core elements remain the same. We went to the moon and back with far leas computing power than your worst smartphone nowadays, yet people use it to stream videos. We could build our entire civilization with Pentium Is.
Made for rich American rappers with lots of gold chains.
What a waste of space 🌌
Waste of space? Australia has its problems, but that seems a bit harsh.
