Always absolutely fascinating to have a walkthrough of other people’s bonsai benches with commentary and explanations as to the process or the history of the trees. 👍
Over the years you have had some truly remarkable videos. Not least of which are your interviews/tours. This is my walk away favorite. It is instructive and enjoyable on so many levels. I have watched it three times already and see/hear new things each time. I plan to save it and go back to it repeatedly. Really, really, really well done. Thank you, Nigel.
Just rewatching this video - David has some really nice trees, i love hearing knowledgable people chatting about their hobby and hearing the enthusiasm for what they are doing coming through - Thank you Nigel and David!!
Wow! A man after my own heart, he said exactly what I've always said. If you have too few trees you can bonsai them to death so you have to get as many as you can fit in your yard. That's what I tell my wife.
Hi Nigel, I just wanted to thank you for asking about how he got started. David is so enthusiastic about his bonsai but he is far more fascinating to be able to create such wonderful bonsai than the bonsai on there own. And I think you were trying to cultivate that in that question.
That japanese black pine in the deiju pot is just amazing!!! The mugo pine he said took a decade is beautiful...grafted juniper is so cool!!! His backyard also has a wonderful overall feel... I'm sort of in love with the fesl of the back yard! I hope he enjoys it :)
Great video as always Nigel! These "visit another bonsai enthusiast"- videos are really interesting. As a fairly new potter it makes me so happy to see people in Canada having/using pots from my home country Sweden. It makes me hopeful that some of my pots one day makes it there too. Kind regards
The dialogue with your friend and the collection of trees was amazing. Would be incredible if you could do this a little more often.. & it seems like the guys you visit love having you over (:
A fascinating walk through. Thank you Nigel for taking us along to David's back yard, a most an uncommon back yard filled with awesome displays off Bonsai creations. It is inspiring to see what can be accomplished. At the very least creating with love, a good try.
Excellent videos a couple broken unwritten rules but that’s what makes this garden different and exited to watch.. One thing that really caught my attention besides the trees was the pots, they’re beautiful and interesting, Thanks again for the video..
What an awesome collection. That big cascading thuja looks like the big brother of yours! A very enjoyable 40 minutes with lots to dream and plan about . . .
Hello from Lakeland FL. I love these tours showing others trees, plants. It is a true experience and see how others cultivate. Thanks and let's go out and show us more of Canada.
That was neat to see! I was surprised to see tea!!! We have wild tea plants all over here, I used to pick and dry my own tea when I was younger and had more time.
Great trees in this video! I was excited to see some birch , beech, and quaking Aspen trees in this collection. I was thinking about starting these three species from seed so I have plenty of time to refine my skills a bit more. Great video Nigel, keep up the great work!
Beautiful collection! Nigel, what is the music that was being played at the beginning of the video; it was also in your last larch forest video, its very soothing
What a beautiful collection David has, that was a pleasure to see. Of course he won the bonsai contest in Toronto. Mister Saunders, all the years i have been following you, i never have seen you grafting a tree. Do you have a special reason for that ? Grtz from Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
well, now you've done it. now i'm off to a nursery to get about 50 different species i'd never considered before. XD i told myself i don't have room but last week i got sucked into a Canadian Tire somehow and came out with a boxwood that was on sale for 10 bucks. who knows how these things happen??

absolutely, love it!

Thanks Jeff, glad you enjoyed the tour as much as I did!
Agree 100%. Hands down the best video.
I just love hearing the excitement in people's voices when they talk about their trees 🌳 I started too late but still have 40 years to go 😆
David has knowledge and experience, I could learn so much from this guy.
Wow, really thanks for this tour and if I live in this Bonsai garden, I won't go outside, too beautiful each one.
Beautiful...
Thank you! Cheers!
Wow, what an amazing collection. Thanks for sharing!
I agree Jay, so many beautiful trees!!!
Watching this one for the 4th time. It just gets better and better. The best backyard bonsai tour I've seen on here. And I've seen most of them.
Just rewatching this video - David has some really nice trees, i love hearing knowledgable people chatting about their hobby and hearing the enthusiasm for what they are doing coming through - Thank you Nigel and David!!
I wish I had half of that collection, long live bonsai.
David seems like such a kind, knowledgeable, funny man. His trees are beautiful! Thanks for the tour ❤
What a beautiful collection of bonsai! Thanks so much for sharing!
I really enjoyed this tour Mr. Saunders, adding the philosophy of other growers complements your channel nicely.
Much appreciated.
Today's session was awesome. Thanks Nigel for walking us through such a wonderful presentation

What a treat , thanks Nigel & David .
David is a wonderful person with wonderful bonsai!!!
Thanks Nigel, you're a great interviewer. Look forward to more like this!
Thanks, I hope I can do more backyard tours this summer!

This gentlemen has his trees on a high level of health and beauty. He could learn other backyard bonsai lovers(me) a lot. 👍👍👍

Yes, a beautiful backyard, I'm sure David loves it too!!
It’s great to see David’s collection. He’s not only so knowledgeable, but he’s genuinely a super nice and generous person. 🙂
He cooked me an awesome Eggplant Parmesan and sent me home with some presents too! David is wonderful, just like his trees!
Wow thats a lot of quality trees! Thanks for the tour!
Wow this was amazing! David's backyard seems like a relaxing sanctuary.
that spruce that ezo spruce forest at 26:30 is just absolutely gorgeous
Having too few trees and smoothering them to death 😂 so true
David's backyard has nothing to envy to a national exhibition!!! Thank you and thank David for this awesome tour
The results of Time and dedication, just a wonderful inspiration.

totally stoked by the quantity and the quality of your friend presentation ! Amazing, cheers Nigel !
WOW David has some beautiful trees and pots.
My goodness... The massive cedar with the swirly deadwood branches. You could pull out a chair and spend a day or few just looking at that one.
A fascinating walk through. Thank you Nigel for taking us along to David's back yard, a most an uncommon back yard filled with awesome displays off Bonsai creations. It is inspiring to see what can be accomplished. At the very least creating with love, a good try.
Glad you enjoyed it!!
I just loved this video. And I liked how you ended it, just slowly tapered off when David was talking about the pot color. So peaceful.
Wish I knew someone that needed a full time apprentice. I would love to spend a year learning everything there is to learn about this craft 🥰🥰🥰
Lots of learning in the hobby, it never stops!
So many fantastic species. Thanks Nigel
Great tour Nigel, lots of awesome trees, very inspiring indeed!
Excellent videos a couple broken unwritten rules but that’s what makes this garden different and exited to watch..
One thing that really caught my attention besides the trees was the pots, they’re beautiful and interesting,
Thanks again for the video..
That man was Amazing and also has an extraordinary talent about making bonsai ☝🖐💥💤 ReaL gifted🙏atsuuup 👍
Thanks Philip, I first met David almost 30 years ago, he is one of the pillars of bonsai in this area!
Amazing collection. Motivates me alot.
I think i will never make a bonsai so beautifull but im very much enjoying the process of it all
Thanks for showing us Nigel, David has awesome trees there
What an awesome collection. That big cascading thuja looks like the big brother of yours! A very enjoyable 40 minutes with lots to dream and plan about . . .
Very beautiful trees, thank you for the video and the inspiration.
Thanks Jules!!
Nice tour. It always amazes me how much people can do in smaller spaces. What an amazing collection!
Thank that gentleman for all of us.
Great collection. Nice guy!
Your best video, period. Amazing.
Wonderful collection! Thank you so much Nigel for sharing this visit to David's place.
It's so lovely to visit fellow hobbyists who inspire us to next level Bonsai. Honestly though Nigel I like your style trees better without the wire.
Nigel you never fail to provide instructive and just plain enjoyable videos. Thanks.🙋♀️
Fabulous !!! I'm new to all this and fascinated. WOW!
Such a good collection David has!!! Welcome to bonsai!!
Those are some nice trees.. and some of those pots
That's cool... My mom got me into it as well..
Wonderful tour and beautiful trees!

I have the right timing for being one-hundroidth 😉
So many amazing trees with so much charakter!
Thanks, Nigel!
Very very nice, great looking trees. Fun to get some explanations with the tree. Great video, thanks for the walk around!
All i can say is wow 🤩 amazing trees,,,,
Thanks David for the tour, those trees are just amazing! Loving the shohin especially. Also; the birches 😍
His Trees are beautiful!
That was neat to see! I was surprised to see tea!!! We have wild tea plants all over here, I used to pick and dry my own tea when I was younger and had more time.
Cool Marysol!
Beautyfull colection

Lisa

Yes, so many and all beautiful!!
ohhh my jaw dropped at 39:04 ! What a cool pot!!!! This is my new favorite channel. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, a wonderful pot, love the style and finish!
Stunning collection!
Absolute beautiful collection!!
That’s pretty! Love Ukulele HollyBloe USA
Really cool video I really enjoyed it thank you for sharing
what an awesome tour
Beautiful. That must be a big job to keep up with. 35 or 40 is about all I can handle.
Nice tour & trees! If I lived closer I might volunteer to help David catch up as that apprentice. 😁
The oak you were talking about is probably a water oak. They are prolific along the coast of the lower south, USA.
Thanks Steve!
Almost missed this video.
Thanks Nigel, that’s interesting. Suggest that you introduce David, because not everyone would be familiar with his background.
So nice to see trees with personality, not the overstylized "perfection" promoted in Japan. American bonsai is where it's at!
Would have loved to take a look at that Japanese tea house / shed!
Beautiful collection!
Nigel, what is the music that was being played at the beginning of the video; it was also in your last larch forest video, its very soothing
It is "In the Temple Garden" by Aaron Kenn, it's from the RUclips music library.

@@TheBonsaiZone thanks a lot! Love your videos :)
Great video. Thank you.
Hi Nigel! Great video, will David be making you a pot for your Serissa tree? Have a great day!
Yes, he's making a nice rectangular pot!
The oak your thinking about is a shingle oak.
I believe the oak you where thinking of is called a shingle oak
Thanks, that's the one, I'll have to try taking cuttings of it, it's a beautiful tree!
Nigel, what is the music at the end of this?
Love seeing the friendship that comes from being into bonsai
Hello Patrick, the music is from the RUclips library, it's called "In the Temple Garden" by Aaron Kenn
well, now you've done it. now i'm off to a nursery to get about 50 different species i'd never considered before. XD
i told myself i don't have room but last week i got sucked into a Canadian Tire somehow and came out with a boxwood that was on sale for 10 bucks. who knows how these things happen??
They just seem to fall off the benches into your shopping cart, so strange indeed!
Sometimes, the best trees come from the sales area at a store, or a burn pile at a nursery!
Sadly I arrived right at the end of the premier☹️
It's an awesome tour, I hope you like the video and thanks!!!
@@TheBonsaiZone all the trees are very beautiful, I enjoyed the video very much! Thanks!!!
Can I ask what the piece of music was right at the start of this video?
Foist!
My man Austin 💪
To start a tree, you plant a seed, for Foist indeed, you need a Mead!
Hi Nigel, wondering if David's trees were wired or thru clip and grow? Didnt see any wires from the younger trees.
David does wire his trees, and also uses clip and grow, where appropriate. He even uses rebar to get his larger branches and trunks into place.
I see true bonsai hobbies don’t like T trees ..sucks because I think they are gorgeous
How does David protect his outdoor trees in the winter?
They go in his garage and greenhouse for winter. The greenhouse is empty right now.
David who? Does he have a website or social media outlet? Great video
Hello Wade, I try and keep the people and gardens private as unfortunately there is always a risk of theft.
what is the red background tree at 32 minutes?
It’s a Japanese maple, probably bloodgood, but I can’t remember.
👌
He still has heaps of space.
Imma tell my wife this 5:26
Lol!!
Wth i thought you have cut your hair 😂
My hair has been cut, just not all of it!
