IF youre not kidding you may have tightened it too early , one thing I should have demonstrated or noted is how much force he's using . i did it twice and the second time I did not use any force other than to pull the string all the way through the hole. but the first time I was tightening it just a little each time which made it mission impossible slipping in lol...
This video isn't that great do it with foot on shoe then you will have boh exact same and you can lace around your foot instead of squashing shoe trying to squeeze into them, I do diamonds with shoe on.

Sure, you can make a standard lace before and make the star onto it with a different color laces
When u put them on first pull the excess lace and then tuck them they get a lot tighter :)
