- OFCOM have today announced that Phase 1 of updating the amateur radio licence framework has begun (21st February 2024) but what does this mean for the hobby in the UK and licence holders in general?
Radio Oddities investigates….
They didn't ask me.....I got nothing through the post from them.
Not at all surprised I know of a few others who didn’t get any communication from them either
I'm a tad surpirsed some are saying they dodn't know this was coming, the invitation to comment was very widely circulated in both both Social Media and Amater radio press.
Nope, they didn't inform or ask me either so sounds like they just took a sample. I only found out from the grapevine.
We are all one nation, but we are not all one entity , if you are collecting ITu entities. Then England, Wales, Scotland , island of man etc all count towards your total. Why do you think people do DExpeditions to uninhabited islands.
Nothing was received in the post here either
Am I to believe as a 2E0 I can change to a M8 or M9 callsign right way.....I cant wait...I hate my 2E0
Your correct! Although that’s phase 2 of the process and will be implemented before autumn 2024. I know lots aren’t keen on the 2E0 calls- they can be a bit of a mouthful.
Nothing in the mail for me. I still replied, though. 👍
Are you going to cover the rest of the changes?
Yes, once phase 2 is implemented I will cover these too. Stay tuned and if you havnt already please subscribe so you can get a notification as soon as the video drops 👍🏻
What I was referring to Ben the removal of Nov's for was Gateways and personal repeaters permitting 3rd party traffic, a huge change for anyone involved in digital modes.
Then there are changes to Maritime and Air operating etc.
I didn't get anything
