Great video! I am slowly getting into nitro after only racing electric. The needle measurement with the digital calipers is genius! I will definitely use that and record all my settings from now on. I have been taking pictures of my needle settings in an effort to record my settings. I was at a race recently and someone tried to help my wife out and adjusted all my needles without asking either of us. It wasn't the proper tune at all and caused my motor to stall repeatedly. I tried to use my pictures to return the motor to our baseline but it was extremely difficult as he went several full turns on multiple needles. With your measurement method I will be able to quickly fix any unsolicited tuning attempts :). Thanks for another great video!
Adam as always Thank you. The XZB Max V1 was already a good engine. Any plans to do an engine tuning video in the future(I know a bit difficult with the sound/noise)?
I like the Intakes you have been using on your motors, with that S curve pipe. Is that a Mugen part or something you get from OS? it puts the filter a bit further away from the motor possibly pulling cooler air and it also looks like its easier to access for removal opposed to the short ones.
Hello adam im no motor guru however the caliper technique is a awesome way to be sure about settings very smart an thank you for information an your time on the vid such grreat way to achieve the settings
Hello Mr Drake, I was running at CVR it was a 90 degree day and was using this same nitro engine. I had check the temp and was around 320f and was wondering should I add a brass head shim. What you think? But another than that engine is a beast for the buck!
Hello, I don't think you'll want to add a head shim, but you may be able to bring the temps down a little by gearing the engine down slightly or adjusting the clutch springs. What vehicle and clutch setting are you currently running?
Thank you! Gearing and clutch setting should be fine. Maybe try a larger venturi if you're concerned with the temps. I don't really tune of worry about temps much, but it would be nice if you could get it in the 280 range.
Hey Adam, great video! thank you Just a quick question about the header, I've been looking everywhere for 85mm but cannot seem to find a part number, would you perhaps know it or have a link? Many thanks.
DLC coating is the way to go at the end of the day if you really love Nitros haha. Adam this motor will scream with a Nova 41001 header and a 9886 pipe like Zeeeeeaah! But the DLC coated crank motor would last longer at the end of the day f the day. But it’s a great 👍🏼 budget engine no questions. See if O.S. Will ever come out with a Speed .32 for me and my subscribers please!! O.S. .28 is bad ass but there old school .30 max is crap and LRP 30 and 32 will out do it all day long but if O.S. Can come out with a Race inspired.32 with back plate and insulated carb and 9 mm vinturies ??? O.S may become the King 👑?? Right now I have 2 Nitros that will keep up and even beat 6S lipo and I have proof of that and I have bin doing it with a Modified Nova 28-8 and a Modified LRP .32 . If O.S. Steps up to the plate ? I will definitely run it at every Bash event I will go to this 2018 year.
Adam Drake thanks man I really appreciate that but if they had it available and if it turned out well with the numbers on my friends Dyno and if it could hold up to some modifications? There would be a market for them!!! If it’s not out there for us There will never be a market for them, it must be out there to have a market for them. Thanks for you efforts on this concern . The next time you talk to the Engine guys over at O.S. I hope 🤞 you bring this up to them again? I have done amazing things with my Modified LRP 32, 30, and Nova 28-8s and I have converted Hundreds of E word guys over to Nitro because of those motors! We are ready for next level and we want more and I would think maybe O.S. can be the one to do it?? I will keep praying 🙏 for it
Was wondering if they had the same internals,& power difference..... Can't wait to see what you come up with..... KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, & KEEP THEM VIDEOS COMMING..... YOU'VE COME A LONG WAY....
Are you referring to the original VZ-B Speed? That was before my time at OS, but I can try to find settings if I know specifically which engine you're referring to. Thanks.
O.S. Has best reliability and best quality. The Engines doesnt have so much spreading in a series. At Nova there were times where only 4 of 10 engines were good. A OS Speed VZB or XZB last really long. I had a Speed VZB who had more than 60liter through. One pinching and onetime Conrod Exchange after 25l. It was running like a machine. I sold it then 🤦🏻♂️ the new owner has still fun with it.
Ben Petz Completely wrong. Do a little research. O.S. engines are timed way harder than Novas which gives the impression that they have more power when in reality, they don't. All Nova engines are built to the highest of standards with Italian quality. Novas make easily the same or more power than a lot of O.S. engines. He may have left Nova because they are probably trying to cut back on sponsored drivers just like Mugen. They're established and don't need to pay people to show that that they are top notch. Same with Picco. Elite quality but not as many sponsored drivers as O.S. and some others. Maybe Adam just wanted to try something different as well.

Been eyeing this for a year now time to pull the trigger.
:)
Run this in my truggy, what a power unit! 😃 and for the price, you really get a nice product!
Adam, is it possible to run a 25xz piston/sleeve in the 21xz case if I bore it on my mill??
This is the best budget engine for racing on the market plenty of power
Yes, the FP02 is also a great engine for the money.
@@AdamDrake have you or anyone you know tried it in Truggy?
@@AdamDrakedo you have a video on the FP02?
Adam as always Thank you. The XZB Max V1 was already a good engine. Any plans to do an engine tuning video in the future(I know a bit difficult with the sound/noise)?
My pleasure. Yes, I plan on working on a tuning video soon.
What’s the difference between the two engines?

Thumbs up on the vid, Adam! 🖒👊

Adam Drake mbx8 clutch is stock as well with gearing
13 tooth clutch bell, 47 tooth and 43/13

Adam Drake thank you very much for your time and advise. If you make it out the jbrl at cvr in Madera ca lunch or dinner on me once again thank you
The one i got recently had a 21j on it. Is this something they did recently?
Yes.

Thank you so much!!! And just to confirm the 90mm header is not available anywhere right?
Yes, I believe it's only available in the Tessmann combo.
Correct.
I’ve managed to find it!

when will you make a video on your new engine?
I hope to have a video for the B21AD in a few weeks. :)
What would the carb settings and temp be if running on 20 percent nitro.
I would start with the same settings and make adjustments as needed.
@@AdamDrake thank you for your help. What would you recommend for idle gap setting.
Is there a difference between the XZB VER 2 & the XRB VER 2 ?

Yes, but I haven't used the XRB V2 yet to know the difference. Hopefully I can test it soon.

This engine is a long stroke.
Hi adam i cant find the factory settings for my os speed vz

Adam Drake its a os speed rz21x
i have the Version 1 whats the difference to V2 ?????????????
Hello Joni, I haven't used the XZ-B V1 myself to know what's different.
Why would you choose an O.S. Over a nova when a nova is cheaper and makes the same if not more power.
Reliability
thechosendude I have ran a nova for a year and never had an issue.
Because he is sponsored by O.S. and besides, they are great engines. And OS engines for sure make more power

22B2 carb vs 21J carb
I prefer the 21J carb.
I just purchased one that came with the 21j carb, if I order another how do I know which carb it will come with?
