      They are learning the basics of fire and movement. They are practicing closing in on the enemy. This is done when say the troops are ambushed. One team will provide covering fire whilst the closes in on the enemy position.

      Fire and Movement is a the basis of military tactic today. Squads are separated into 2 (or 3) fireteams.
      Let's just say Fireteam Alpha is responsible for Movement, and Fireteam Bravo is responsible for support.
      Bravo will use suppressive fire, putting shots on the enemy position. They're fairly inaccurate (rarely actually hit anyone), but close enough that the enemy will put their heads down and go to cover.
      Meanwhile, Alpha will approach the known enemy position, to launch a potential assault from closer.
      There's two types of Fire and Maneuver: Dedicate and Alternate. Sometimes, Bravo will only shoot, and Alpha will only approach (until the assault phase, where they also shoot). That's dedicated roles. But sometimes, they will alternate roles. Bravo supports while Alpha advances 50 yards, and then Alpha supports until Bravo catches up. And then switch roles again until they're close enough to assault the enemy instead of just suppressing them (close enough for grenades, accurate fire, target identification, etc.).
      It's a tactic used for large distances (hundreds of yards). Fire and Maneuver is the preferred tactic for closer encounters. Here, it's the same thing, except Alpha will try to flank the enemy, either from the side or the rear. They will try to find an advantageous position to lay more accurate fire and essentially double up on the enemy

      Same I'm not in the military either do to life circumstance (first generation American so I never really had the thought of service until later in life) but ive thought about wanting to join the Marines in the last few years having been living in a third world country and having really fallen off the wagon, even though I know I don't got what it takes to be a marine lol. I watch a bunch of these different military branch tactics videos. Logically I think this is just a drill to teach the Marines how to gain territory when in combat, one marine sends suppressive fire and the squadron moves up one at a time while suppressive fire keeps being sent down range at the enemy

    • @everydayash208
      @everydayash208 4 месяца назад +1

      They look like they are just learning the basics of fire and maneuver. They didn't really do the whole RTR thing so they definitely look new. Usually you will Return fire rapidly, take cover, and then Return accurate fire. This provides great suppression to get everybody into position to begin closing in on the enemy and ultimately destroying them.

    Military Question: To any marines out there; when they say, "1 in 7," or "1 in 8," I assume that refers to fire control correct? If so, what are the standards methods for controlling the squad's fire. I.E. Let loose on target, vs. suppression, vs. overwatch, vs. don't engage. I'm trying to make a realistic real-time strategy game, but I am struggling to create a framework that would realistically allow you to control fire from the operational level down to individual fire teams.

      Also if machine guns are in play we have that superiority from a higher ground. Have the enemy pinned down. As well as mortar men dropping steal. We already did the reconnaissance on them before advancing. If we get ambushed then it is what it is we have to keep the fight going at anytime and place be ready for the unexpected. But overall that’s how it would go. If we were to close with and destroy. Hope this helps

      Marines do have training like that. We would swap out our upper receivers to 9mm uppers and use special magazines that are 9mm casings with a soap type paint inside. I think they use a lighter charge in the powder area but still hurts when hit. I still have a scar on my wrist because of those rounds. So it's an upgraded paintball session. It Is horrible to do in the winter time as well. Good times though

    Is this a slower run through. Its seems somewhat low pace. In the British army we have the same maneuvers but run on the principle of 'im up, he sees me, im down'. Meaning that you only bound (run) for as long as it takes for the enemy to notice you i.e 2 seconds until you hit the deck, crawl, return fire and bound again.
    I also noticed that the reaction to contact wasn't particularly aggressive. We have been taught to immediately put rounds down range in the general direction of enemy (to suppress and get their heads down) then go to ground.

      Basically, the point is to keep the enemy pinned down with suppressive fire while you maneuver into a more tactically advantageous position. Sometimes that requires maneuvering through a space that offers little to no protection. However, if you pay attention to your surroundings, such as divets and ridges in the ground, rocks, ect, its actually fairly easy to find something that will provide some form of cover. Its called micro terrain.

      Section attacks are conductrd using a 3 to one advantage. Part of the battle drilles is overwhelming the enemy with superior firepower. This is known as winning the firefight. Then with the enemies head down you take bounds and maneuever until you eventually take the trench.
