BULL CALL SPREADS ARE BETTER THAN BUYING CALLS? (EP. 129)

  • Buying calls on Robinhood can be a great way to generate some extra income every single week but it does come with some downsides. In this video I want to go over bull call spreads on Robinhood and why I believe they could be superior to buying calls. The bull call spread is a bullish strategy, so you do want the price of the stock to go up.

    In this scenario - we are just making premium less .. nothing else correct? In my opinion if we are loosing, we are loosing only $1050 premium.. but we lost lot of appreciation. am i correct?

      @KFCmetaverse 2 года назад

      @@jeffsnydervideo yea he sold a call and in order to close that position you need to buy to close. Then he had another position below the sell position where he bought a call. You would sell the call like normal only odd part is buying to close the sell position

    I like the Bull Call spread vs the Put call because the Bull call has unlimited upside, while the put bull call is limited (both ways).
    But what happens if you buy a Call ATM or OTM - with a long expiry e.g. 1 year out and then sell short term Call(s) with e.g. 30 day expiry. If the short call you sold goes against you and expires above strike price, are you still protected by the long call you bought? Even with the time difference?

    • @ash24480
      @ash24480 3 месяца назад

      Yes. As long as you are still long your protected side, you're protected. You wouldn't want to sell a longer term one than the one you're long, because then once the long side expires, you no longer have protection.

    So you are paying 122 to make 128 max. That sounds kind of lousy. Why would I do that.

    • @fernando3061
      @fernando3061 Год назад +1

      It's just an example. I bought a couple F options for super cheap and made 24 bucks for instance. It's the idea of process over profit. If you stick to process, and that process has a much higher chance of profit then like day trading for example, then all you really have to do is stay smart, stick with your routine, and scale i.e invest more as you make more.

    • @TurnkeyTrading
      @TurnkeyTrading 8 месяцев назад +2

      the 122 isn't actually gone because you are holding something that has that value. So once you sell at full expiration then you will receive 128+122=250, so you will have actually made 128 profit plus you sell the 122.
      If you buy a car, is the $ actually gone? Not really since you are owning an asset of that value. If you gave away money to someone, then the money would be gone and you would have nothing to show for it.

    Thanks for the Video bro. With the bull call, do you set a stop loss to prevent your gains? Is there any downside to bull calls? Do you need that less amount to trade a bull call?

      This position doesn’t include stock.
      It is made out of two contracts a sell and buy(both of them calls)
      You are technically selling a call against your buy to reduce cost basis and mitigate theta decay.
      Your max loss is the debit you pay to enter the position. This is how you calculate the price of a debit spread(in this case a bull spread):
      Buy call - short call = price of the position

    If you don't buy calls or put is because you are not sure which way the trade will go so you're trying to be safe

  • @PTrading-rh7zv

    Volatility has ZERO effect on a spread. You are buying and selling the same volatility. Also, closing a spread early is ridiculous. You are negating the benefits of time decay on the sold option.

      Correct. The only time to exit is when you hit a target or your direction losing validity on the chart. I love ATM/ITM debit spreads surprise more people don’t use them especially when you are good at identifying pivot locations. My success rate is 73.8%.
