I have been using Tata Altroz XZ petrol(naturally aspirated engine), 12,600+ kms over...
1. Engine pickup: Initially Lenient & promising after 2000+ rpm
2. Mileage: City-13 to 15 & Highways/long drive- 17.5 to 21.5 (kmpl)
3. Stability: Great/Excellent
4. Dynamics: Excellent
5. Storage: Good compared to its competitors
6. Erganomics: Good
7. Stability: Excellent & cornering is too good
8. Braking & safety: Excellent (compared to its competitors)
9. Design: Both exterior & interior are great
10: AC: Excellent cooling
11. Service(Car & Customer service): Strongly has to be improved a lot lot lot...
12. Engine noise: NVMs are good upto speed 100 kmph...
13. Music system: Excellent
14. Seat capacity: 5 adults
Altroz is a great car to go... Petrol Engine(drivability should be like, go with the flow, gentle & lenient)... If you need a punchy engine go for Diesel one(4cyl + 1.5 ltr engine)...
agree with your points, but engine is totally sluggish after loaded with 5 people. you have to wait patiently to achieve 3 digit speed.

Detailed. Pros and cons explained clearly. Pity that Tata can’t build a refined turbo petrol. Had a chance to drive Rapid 1 ltr turbo auto. Excellent power delivery beyond 1400 rpm. No point in buying turbo if the engine makes such a nose. Might have problems in the long run.
There's this thing. If you change the company fitted spark plug to ngk's iridium spark plug,the idle vibrations are reduced drastically in altroz,tigor... Also mileage improves . There's a video on youtube,also with bs 6 phase 2 ,engines are getting more and more refined..
As u mentioned about the door unlocking from the rear, na mothala scross own panen athulayu ipdi open agum driving apa any body can open, ipa am owning a venue athula naama ena try panalu lock open agurathila driver eh open panalu running la agathu really i appreciate that feature kolanthaingaloda car la travel panum pothu romba secure a i feel. Every car manufacturer must implement this feature in all their cars, Only impact aana matum tha all doors will unlock itself.

The Door lock is same in freestyle also and I am facing this as a Negative.. My child is easily opening it while running and we wont be able to always look out for it when driving.. They should have given it in other way.

Dear MW Team, thank you for pointing out the door unlocking concern. Adults will be comfortable wearing seat belts but kids (especially 4 - 10 years) won't fit in size and it's practically impossible to monitor them throughout the journey. Playfully they might try to open the doors.. my son had done it several times but thankfully my car's doors (Hyundai i10) are locked centrally 😐😐😐

@@rajkumarp5133 Sir, the whole point is, centrally locked cars cannot be opened just by pulling the lever at first instance, but this car does. Unknowingly if someone pulls up the door will be opened which poses a life threat. Pls watch video again @17:40

Hi, I'm an altroz petrol owner and most ah highway driving na definite ah altroz petrol edukalam. Romba fast acceleration kidaikadhu but decent and very comfortable ride. Na 140 Vara otirken, so high speed stability pakka va iruku nu sollalam.
@MK, If you do frequent highway trips, try the Diesel. It will be more powerful and will deliver better fuel efficiency

Till date I am not sure about turbo? Does really a family car needs turbo engine?
Why don't companies not offering a better naturally aspirated engine?
What about the durability of turbo engines?
What about the maintenance/periodic change spares cost?
What about the real time mileage ( a big concern )?, Etc.,

First of all thanks for motowagan team for all knowledge sharing. This video came at right moment personally when I am looking for my car for my family. Altroz was first on my shorlist but due to long term reliability concerns of TC engine as you shared I rated it down. As alternative I don't want to go to baleno for safety concerns , so considering s-cross as an option. Jazz is third on list but concerned over its fuel efficiency. I am from Bangalore but I don't use my car for daily office commute. I will mostly use for other commute inside city, weekend outing and travel to native in tirunelveli. S-cross is top on list for now. Can we expect better reliability with Diesel engine?
If u prefer safety go for altroz, just enquire near by tata owners/drivers for good service center, if u are able to find one you are set with tata.. In Chennai from my personal experience Pokma tata Chennai and Gokulam tata Keelkattalai is doing good.. All the best for your new car 👍
Bro pls check the I 20 too it's great.. I have bought asta o 4 months ago even now I don't even regret my decision it's great with all round package with safety features like 6 airbags and so comfortable pls do check it....and in suzuki you can't expect for safety at alll...so pls consider all factors bro.. and take a good descion because you travel from baglore to tirunelveli which is long so safety must also be a great factor

One criticism. I don't get the color grading choice in the latest video. I understand that this is stylistic. But the car simply has no detail and looks like a white blob.

Dear Sir, I've planned to buy Altroz Petrol (MT) non-turbo. Did a test drive of both DCA and iTurbo. Not very satisfied with DCA due to lag during gear shifts. Also i feel , turbo is way ahead of my requirement as most of the time my usage is limited to city drive 80% with occasional long tours -may be once or twice a year. Is Altroz Petrol (MT) still a good pick for me ? Pls suggest.

I own an Altroz and I would rate it great for the highways than for a city drive for its stability, comfort, and braking. If you are a village road user or a city user go with punch.

Insurance amount 34000 approx , one year bumper to bumper plus 3 years third party.
Is comprehensive better ? Should I go for 3 years comprehensive insurance sir ?
Usually when I book in December, January la price hike achu na ex show room change agathu but Rto amount will change soluranga.

Comprehensive insurance is better. From April 2022 Registration and renewal fees increasing but registration fees is less only. Definetely ex showroom price will hike to minimum level. Already Maruti and tata, honda announced their pricke hike from jan itself.

@@dpkpraba no brother, the knowledge transfer isn’t that good as of I heard from my friends in Madurai itself and few from chennai as well.
And after market is so mean at times, way they respond and react itself makes u go for other brand.
I myself have first choose safety at most priority but then in practical situations there are few more points which makes u go for the brand it may be x y or z brand.

There's a video on youtube ,in which an altroz user from north changes his stock spark plug to ngk iridium spark plug and thus idle vibrations are reduced drastically,mileage also improved. There's another video of trying the same in tigor as well.. so if there's some one willing to try this on your tata,pls try and comment. This won't void your warranty and you can change it in service centre as well. Also not that costly,so
With turbo and without turbo models, what would be the mileage difference?
And you mentioned engine rumble noise, when you drive with music on, how is it? can you explain?

This is more of a psychological point than a real safety issue. Trust me, someone as naïve as pulling a door open latch in a moving car, can be trusted to play with the unlock button as well, removing any real benefit of a separate button.

I pray there are no such cars. Imagine a very realistic scenario of someone being abducted. What would that unfortunate person's reaction be, if he/she can't jump out of it while taking the risk, given the fate otherwise can be even worse. Just because the car won't allow opening doors.

Yes, you are right. Child lock knob is there for back doors for safety. If we engage it,doors can open from outside only.

Hi bro.. i took small test drive of Altroz, punch and Nexon.. could not do stretch drive due to km limitations from showroom.. booked Punch and cancelled now due to long waiting period.. also heard more body roll in punch..

Altroz - less body roll, if we compare with Nexon. But we can't compare both, since Nexon is SUV body type and altroz is a premium hatchback.
Simple - lesser the ground clearance, lesser the body roll.
I am owner of altroz 2 years old , Please don't waste your money on altroz, 1) poor performance 2) noise 3) vibration 4) engine performance even in 1st gear i couldn't manage sometimes in hills. 5) poor mileage 15 km.... So please go for alternative like maruti or hundai

Yes, it doesn't matter. Splash shields won't protect fully, it is just splash shield. Even if it is there it will tear off in our roads.At any point we should not water Wade in any family cars. It is more dangerous, you may loose the clutch because of wet.
