I agree with your resentment of the whole "keeping it close between everyone" mentality in this game. Between the items being distance-based as opposed to placement-based (like it has been ever since Mario Kart existed) and it even being possible for 2nd to equip more than 2 red shells is absolute bs. Normally when you're front-running in 1st, you can feel the euphoric pay-off, but now, it's just almost always guaranteed pain, torture, and broken dreams 😔

Troy as someone who has 25k VR my advice is to not trail your item IMMEDIATELY. Use the rear view camera first to see if someone has a red shell or not. Now with the chaotic nature of Mario kart there will be times where you can’t avoid a red shell unless you trail a banana/shell, but from my experience 8 times out of 10 you shouldn’t trail your item immediately

I'm with ya biddy buggy is still top tier. I've really been liking light and middle weights on wiggler now too. I never rode wiggler until after the rebalance but yoshi feels so good on it to me now. I don't like the ink striker's sounds and mini turbo animations so I'm glad other options feel good to me.
I have played Mario Kart for over 12 years now, almost always using Yoshi or in the games where they are available I used Birdo, it makes me so happy knowing that they are part of the very diverse meta, and that you represented them well even though the game screwed you over completely. I would love to see more of these very intense and action packed videos, keep up the good work!

Dropping a Bomb while drifting can actually get rid of a red without it hitting you MOST of the time. You don't have to straighten out, as I'd argue that has the same chance of failing if not more of a chance of failing due to the reduce speed and not getting out of the blast zone. Hope this can make it's way onto the "Good tips" lol.
You should've made the rules for the Ironman a bit more clear. You said the lower the placement you get is the more points. The goal is to get 150 points. Do you have to get exactly 150 points? My Mario Kart idea 1. Create 10 karts (and character combinations), 1 through 10. 1 being the best and progressively worse till you get to the 10th which is trash. 2. Pick a hard room (each time) 3. Start racing on kart 10 (worst) and every time you lose points you move to the next better kart in the list. Every time you gain points, you move to the next worst kart in the list 4. The goal? Have a net positive accumulation of points for the entire play session.
Challenge: You and a friend are team captains and must assemble a team to race against the others. 8 Races and totaled combined score of all players are totaled and the team with the highest score wins
The biggest tip I can give is to keep your items. You back them so much and I used to do that but it never really helps imo. If you hit someone with it then the person behind them just passed them and can hit you with a red shell. Exceptions are stuff like if you can really take out your main competitor or if you will get better items from a close double.
Sometimes it's actually better to trail your items for protection, when someone throws a red and is right at your tail, because you don't necessarily have the reaction time to react in that case, though it is useful to not trail your item in 1st when a blur shell hits you. This game is all about making smart plays, but more importantly the right play. Not trailing your item in 1st in case of blue ? Smart play, but when Second place has a red and is right at your tail you can trail your item to either hit them, or protect yourself from an unreactable red. That is the right play.
As an inkling player AND splatoon fan you should try to get 1st with every inkling color to test your true luck with them (And maybe only use the splatoon karts)

Each position gets you points equivalent. So 1st=1 and 12th=12. The goal is 150 or lower

Not a glitch, but on Choco Mountain you can get insane air by hitting the edge of the track after a hop. It doesn't do anything, but it's pretty cool.
