If I had to take a quess, it's because they figured out that it's not something that really happened, atleast not in their universe. Meaning that it wouldn't be that difficult to take precautions for something like this to not happen, hence why they were able to quickly calm down. Or maybe I am just looking too much into it, I do that often, afterall, trying to figure out the meaning and such.
As for before the lyrics, as Isabella had said, they concluded that Phineas was having a nightmare, nothing more, with this rationalised in their mind, they weren't as bothered by it.
