Only if you want the ride height of the seat to remain the same as the OEM Forester Seats. If you use the WRX rails, you'll sit much lower and I found it uncomfortable, but thats just me.
I'm looking at the same Coilovers, do you scream when you hit a bump/pot hole? Or are they comfortable for daily use? Aka will my wife complain when she drives lol
So, to answer your question, no it is very comfortable for daily use (The Preload should be 5mm), long answer my wife liked the ride so much she got upset when we got rid of the Foz because it rode so well and she is not a car person in the least bit. Wife Approved on my end.
Great to the point video. I would like to know how the height of the passenger seat was affected with this swap. I am trying to lower the front passenger seat in my 16 Forester as there is no height adjustment. It is too high. Cheers!
Hey man, great video! I’m curious… my ‘15 forester has oem power and heated seats. If I found WRX seats with heat and power could I theoretically swap the seat rails from the oem seats onto the WRX seats? Thanks!
I’m theory that should work, it would all depend on the connectors. Which I have a sneaking suspicion that they are the same. I’d definitely be curious about this myself.
@@2FIRacing WRX seats The base model foresters without auto seats have different seat modules and the weight sensor doesn't rear anything unless theirs weight in the seat
This might be a question out of left field, but is it possible to install manual seats into a Forester with power seats and retain the power seats functionality somehow? More specifically I have a 2014 Forester XT with a power driver seat. There are some tears in it that neither I nor the wife like so my plan was to just replace all the seats. I found some base STI seats that I liked but the base STI has manual seats for both front passenger and driver. I expect to jus straight up swap the rails for the passenger side, but is there a way to transfer over the motors and such or is there just no way? I imagine that the Forester seat itself would be way too different to simply swap over the base STI cushion supports and upholstery
Sooo, I asked my self this question when doing this. I took a look at the seats based and discovered there is a way. But, before you remove the foz seats from the car you need to be sure the seats are all the way up. There are some torq or however you call it, bolts under the seat and you should, in theory be able to attach the sti seats, if they use the same hole distance, which would make sense but, I don’t know for sure. That’s the best answer I can give. I had to do this swap in a parking lot because I did not have a garage at the time. If I had a garage I probably would have tried that.
@@2FIRacing thanks for the reply! I actually ended up buying a seat set from a limited WRX with a motorized driver seat. The seller had replaced them all with recaros pretty early on so the original seats are in amazing condition. I had originally really wanted to get the base sti seats because I wanted the red leather highlights and the alcantara, but the price and condition on the WRX seats were so good that I couldn't pass it up, lol. I guess I should be happy, the leather from the WRX is surprisingly nice compared to what my Forester has. The only challenge now is to figure out how to get the rear seats to fit...
I actually put the rear seats in but ended up taking it out. IIRC the bottom seat cushion fit, the upright section physically bolted in but was too short so I had a gap that was like 4 in of space in the crease of the seat.
@@2FIRacing so was the issue that the seat backs were actually too short? Someone had told me that it was advertising the seat cushions that were too short compared to the Forester's
Did you have any issues with Airbag light after the swap? It seems mine isn't reading the Passenger Occupancy sensor properly and the dealership said they're specific to the model and can't be reprogrammed. I tried to swap the old module in but the connections to the sensor in the seat is different between the 2015 WRX and the 2014 XT sensor
I didn't have any issues with the Airbag light. I swapped over the seat belt buckles and everything worked good for me. My XT was a 15' and the WRX was also a 15' maybe that's why?
@@2FIRacing Could be. I swapped over the buckles as well, but the systems definitely appear different on my end unfortunately. It works sporadically and the shop said when the light comes on it's coming up as a historic event so maybe the new module is malfunctioning as well. I've got some digging to do I guess. Thanks for your reply though!
Dear Tom. Where did you get your WRX seats + rails from? My problem in my 2015 Forester SJ is the height. It's still way too high in the lowest position. Also, the Forester seats have zero side support, which I hate as well.
Hey, so I ended finding them on FB marketplace of all places, I got the seats and rails for $200. Since you seem to be on the taller side just use the WRX seat rails. Hands down one of the best mods I did to my SJ.

Curious if the new '22 WRX seats can be swapped in the SJ Forester?
I'm not entirely sure, I haven't been able to see what the new WRX rails look like.
When are you going to make a new video??
Soon, I know it’s been a little while but I’ll keep making videos.
Would it fit on 2014 WRX?
I'm really not sure.

I’m not really sure to be honest, I’d imagine using the WRX rails would lower it more than the forester ones.
would you know if coilover suspension from a G3 WRX would go intoe a 2013+ SJ forester?
I don’t, I mean Subaru logic would say but, I’m not entirely sure
