I’ve been watching videos of the 8 series for so long, and it took me while to find the best video, and I think it’s safe to say this was the best review you can find on the 8 series.
Pranit thank you so much for such a nice comment. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Stay tuned for my Tesla model S Plaid review coming tomorrow morning! Thanks again
I think the 840 is more than enough. I don't intend to speed but rather to cruise and to have the executive sporty look. Am actually looking at the Gran coupe with 4 doors as it is for business
sweet review!!! May i ask how tall you are and if you had the seats all the way down? Im considering buying a 2020 cpo model with super low miles i had no idea they no sunroofs which is a plus for me cause i need the headroom.
The 840, for the price, is somewhat of a head scratcher. I got a 22 850 for just over a hundred and the twin turbo v8 is in another league. I went with the 850 Gran Coupe for it's styling, twin turbo v8, and the fact it's about 90% of an M8 at about 70% of the cost. It's a lot of folks out here talking about the 850 isn't a "real M car", but they only write comments while I write checks.
The n63 V8 used in the M850i is hugely problematic. Failures and litigation galore with this “hot V” design, tho they have made several attempts at improvements, hopefully successful. The 840 series uses the b58 straight 6, a solid power plant that even Toyota has decided to use in the Supra. I can’t bring myself to get the 50 series with the risk of that engine.
How comfortable is the m850i compared to an m8? I heard the m8 doesn’t have the softest ride even though I literally test drove an m8. It was a shitty test drive so I didn’t get a good feel for the car.
My reasonable dream car now is an used 840i cabrio, what an stunning car, and with the roof of is even more beautiful. The cabrio starts at 114.000 in spain 😖
I driven a 4 series coupe from Sixt car rental on my trip to Los Angeles and the issues mainly buying and driving luxury cars is price and maintenance. In Los Angeles, gas prices as high as $7.49/gallon on premium fuel, it's not a commuter car. Even if someone considered to buy a BMW, a pre-owned 2 to 3 year old is better cost wise with low mileage and extended warranty.
Can't compare the 840i with the M8, the latter is a hyper-performance car with a 2.5 sec 0-60 (C&D test), that's Bugatti territory -- the 840i clocks in a 4.7 sec 0-60 (C&D test) which is run-of-the-mill performance in today's market. Hence, the price differential.
We have had our convertable now for 3 months, love the car. I do wish they would have put the M4.0i engine with 382 HP in it, that would have made it a bit more sporty.
As the former owner of an M850i, and current owner of an 840i XDrive - I can assure you that you are exactly right !! I don't NEED 500+ HP. The 840i is quick i stock form - add a $500-600 tune, and you're at 400+ HP - more than enough + $15-20K left in the bank !!
You don’t even need the hpfp. Downpipe and tune and you can do stage 2 plus and get 500 horsepower. Combined they are like 1000 bucks. Debadge the 840, do the downpipe/tune, no one will be able to tell the difference
The M8 is waste of money unless you got it like that, the 840 is definitely a waste of money considering the price point for performance. The sweet spot in this lineup is the M850.
2:16 You can't stomach paying $ 170.000 for an M8,.... In the Netherlands a well equipped M8 comes up to about € 270.000 ($ 295.000). Even a well equipped 840i xDrive runs up to about € 180.000
Looks better than that 2021 BMW 4 Series with that ugly front grill. I’ll rather pay double the price and get a 8 Series. The C8 Corvette is outdated and ugly. GM needs a quick refresh. There is no way I will by a C8 with better looking sports cars in that price range🍷
Ordered an 850 GC. Went easy on the options for 105k. Carbon black with white/tan interior. The 840 is just not doing it for me.Great engine for a 5series but not The 8. If you can afford the 840 you probably can afford a lightly optioned 50.
rather have a 840I fully optioned than a V8 making you brake the law even quicker. We got the 840 with full options. Bowers & Wilkins, fully comfort and executive pack and it its such a beautiful place to be right now. But to each their own, if engine is really important to you I get it.
@@henricov6458 I hear you. But this is a dream car for me and probably the last expensive vehicle I buy in my life (about to retire in 5 years). Never had a 3.5 second car and thought "the hell with it". Besides, here where I live (Texas) the cops are really careful with who they pull over. High end cars scare them, could be an oil baron, a friend of Jerry Jones or a hot shot lawyer.; especially when you wear a suit. They focus on Hellcats and WRXs, lol.

Thank you for the support! Glad you liked it
I hear what your saying but the 840i has the b58 motor and with about $10k in mods you can get some good power out of the motor
Love that finger motion feature. 👍🏼🤌🏼🤏🏼
Love ya video , May i know how fast can this car do for the 0-200, i believe it's bit quicker than what internet shows

Hey Michael. I agree, I’ve driven one in the past prior to starting my RUclips channel. Maybe I’ll get my hands on one soon

I heard the 8 cylinder turbo set up is not ideal for longevity. 840 awd might be they sweet spot.

Alex, so looks like you’ve had your 840 for a year. Any thoughts? I’m looking at buying a 2020 840i soon.
You can always do a stage one tune on it mate and bring it up to 450 horse power it's never the end of the world
Considering as an upgrade from my 228i coupe. I know it won’t be that much faster because of how heavy it is but it’ll be a lot more reliable.

Yes, and enhanced greatly withe the BW stereo upgrade.

I think not too high
The Gesture sign needs to be made for left and right signals.Remember who said it 😉
I did not know the M8 was getting discontinued.. wow! 😢 I think it's a gorgeous car too.
It’s not discontinued
I would be willing to pay up for an M8. If a car looks sharp like that, it better have the turbo V8 but I already have the F90 M5 so I am good.
my dream car
Id say Mercedes Benz kills BMW interior wise. Not a single BMW owner has used that gesture feature in their life.
Duke Raf about to call his goon on me. Thank god I'm in heaven tho.
I think the feature will be improved over time but yes, at the moment I doubt anybody uses it
I use the sound up and down spin all the time..
In 5 years the Mercedes interior will look dated. BMW interior is timeless. Simple, classic, built as a tank.
Nope. New BMWs interior is better

A corvette stingray is NOT considered the faster car. A m8 traps around 130mph where as a c8 runs around 118 to 120.

Bigger version of 330i …
The 840 IMO is a waste of money. For a car as big as the 8 series it's either M850i or of course the M8.
Ur wrong it weights 80-100 pounds more than a m340i and has the same engine u can tune it to 700 whp with upgraded turbos same power as any m8
Don’t Waste Money 😁 did you seen how much M8 cost?
Lmao
I only can said one thing
In April 2024 they will deliver my new BMW 850I and I certainly wouldn't change it for an 840.
